CTET Exam Pattern 2025

The CTET 2025 Exam will be held in two parts:

1. All the questions will be objective type having 4 options with only 1 correct option.

2. Language 1 will focus on the candidate’s proficiency in the medium of instruction.

3. Language 2 will focus on the candidate’s proficiency in the elements of language, communication, and comprehension abilities.

4. Language 2 must be different from Language 1 and the candidates can choose any 2 languages for their choice of Language 1 and Language 2 from the available language options at the time of applying for the examination. The languages available for the candidates are mentioned in the table below.

CTET 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Paper 1

To be eligible for CTET Paper 1 (for teaching Classes 1 to 5), candidates must meet any one of the following criteria:

• Passed Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and have completed or are appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
• Passed Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with 45% marks and have completed or are appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), as per NCTE norms.
• Passed Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and have completed or are appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
• Passed Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and have completed or are appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree and have completed or are pursuing a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.).

Paper 2

To be eligible for CTET Paper 2 (for teaching Classes 6 to 8), candidates must meet any one of the following criteria:

• Hold a Graduation degree and have completed or are appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
• Hold a Graduation degree with at least 50% marks and have completed or are appearing in the final year of a B.Ed. program.
• Hold a Graduation degree with at least 40% marks and have completed or are appearing in the final year of B.Ed., by NCTE regulations.
• Passed Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and have completed or are appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
• Passed Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and have completed or are appearing in the final year of a 4-year B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed or B.A/B.Sc.Ed.
• Hold a Graduation degree with at least 50% marks and have completed or are appearing in a 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education) program.
