The UPSC Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) refers to the body of seven security forces in India under the Ministry of Home Affairs authorization. This CAPF AC exam is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). The seven security forces under CAPF are Assam Rifles (AR), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), National Security Guard (NSG), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Border Security Force (BSF).

Recruitment is conducted mainly in three modes

  1. Gazetted Officers: Officers in CAPFs are recruited by UPSC which was conducted through the Central Armed Police Forces AC Examination.
  2. Subordinate Officers: Sub Inspectors are recruited by the Staff Selection Commission which was conducted through competitive examination and they are referred to as DASO’s (Directly Appointed Subordinate Officers).

Constables: Constables are recruited by the Staff Selection Commission which was conducted through competitive examinations

  • The CAPF AC 2021 exam notification was released by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). This year UPSC released 159 vacancies for Assistant Commandants (AC) Posts in the Central Armed Police Forces.
  • The exam was conducted on 8TH August 2021, in accordance with the rules published by the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Gazette of India for the CAPF examination.

About CAPF Notification 2022

Union Public Service Commission will be releasing the CAPF Notification 2022 on 20th April 2022. The date of the CAPF (Central Armed Police Force) online exam is August 7th, 2022. Aspiring candidates can submit their CAPF application form by 10th May 2022. The candidates need to visit the official website of UPSC to fill the application form.

Besides, the application fee is INR 200. However, there is an exemption for female and SC/ST candidates. But, before filling the application form, the candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria. Further, the candidates are advised to keep updated with the selection process for the CAPF AC exam.

The UPSC on 14th July has released the Admit Card for CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) AC Examination, 2021. Candidates appearing for the exam on August 8th, 2021 can download the UPSC CAPF Admit Card 2021 from the link provided here (UPSC CAPF E-ADMIT CARD). The candidates are requested to download their admit cards and take a hard copy of it. CAPF Application Fee

All eligible candidates should pay the application fee prescribed by the UPSC. The application fee is INR 200, which can be deposited in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using the net banking facility of the State Bank of India, or by using Visa/Master/RuPay/Credit/Debit Card. The candidates who belong to reserved categories such as SC/ST are exempted from paying the application fee. One should note that there is no application fee for female candidates.

For application fee payment by cash, the candidate should select the option “Pay by cash” and should print the system-generated Pay-in-Slip during Part-II of registration for UPSC CAPF AC 2021 and deposit the application fee at any of the Stank Branch as soon as possible.


About CAPF AC Eligibility Criteria

CAPF AC 2021 Eligibility Criteria for Assistant Commandant exam is based on factors like Nationality, Gender, Education qualification, Age, Physical standards, and the number of attempts. The factors of UPSC CAPF AC 2021 Eligibility Criteria are mentioned below:


Firstly, the candidate must be either:

  • A citizen of India
  • A subject of Bhutan
  • A subject of Nepal
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st Jan 1962 to permanently settle in India.
  • A person of Indian origin who migrated from Myanmar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, East African countries to permanently settle in India.


  • Male and female candidates are eligible for applying to the post of Assistant Commandants.

Educational Qualification

Here are some educational qualifications that the applicants must go through to be eligible for CAPF:

  • As part of UPSC CAPF AC Eligibility Criteria, the applicant must hold a degree from any government-recognized university. The University should be incorporated by the Central or State Legislature in India.
  • Other educational institutions established by Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section-3 of the UGC (University Grants Commission) Act, 1956 are also acceptable.
  • The candidates, who are in their final year of the degree and have yet to get their results, can also apply for the CAPF AC post. But the candidates should know that the admission would be provisional until the candidate submits the proof of passing the examination after qualifying for the entrance test of CAPF.
  • A candidate must have a degree in any discipline or equivalent government-recognized University.
  • The applicants appearing in the final year of their graduation can also apply, provided they will have to produce their final result at the time of filling the Detailed Application Form (DAF).

Age Limit

  • The applicants should have a minimum age limit of 20 years. The maximum age should be 25 years. However, there is a relaxation of up to a maximum of 5 years for the candidates who belong to the SC/ST category.
  • Up to a maximum of 3 years for the candidates who belong to Other Backward Classes can be relaxed.
  • The candidate who wants to apply for CAPF 2021 should be an Indian national. Female and male candidates can apply for the CAPF AC exam. There are different physical & medical standards for both men and women set by UPSC to apply for the desired post through UPSC CAPF 2021.
  • The candidates who are already been selected on the basis of the CAPF AC exam earlier are not allowed to apply for the exam.

About CAPF Syllabus & Exam Pattern

CAPF Admit Card

The applicants will be able to download the UPSC CAPF AC 2021 Admit Card from UPSC HOME  by logging in with their Registration ID and Password or date of birth. Moreover, it has been released on July 14, 2021.

The applicants must bring the admit card to the exam center. CAPF Result

The UPSC released 2 files related to CAPF AC 2021 Result, one specifies only the roll numbers of qualified applicants, and another specifies roll numbers and names of the qualified candidates.

The CAPF AC 2021 Merit List will be prepared on basis of the marks obtained by the candidates in the Online Examination Personality Test, and Interview.

The CAPF AC cut-off marks will be depending upon various factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, the number of candidates appeared, the number of vacancies, and other mischievous facts.

CAPF Application Procedure (How to apply)

  • Interested candidates who clear the eligibility conditions set by the Commission can apply online for the Assistant Commandant post through the website UPSC Active Examinations.
  • The online application process comprises two stages.
  • Candidates are advised to scan their photographs and signature prior to filling up the application form.
  • The signature & photograph should be in the .jpg format. Most importantly, the file should not be greater than 40 KB and should not be less than 3 KB in size for the photograph, and should not be less than 1 KB for the signature.
  • Aspirants should avoid multiple applications.
  • Candidates are advised to apply online as soon as possible without waiting for the last date for submission of Online Applications.

1) Written Paper
Paper-I includes Mental & General Ability, it is for 250 marks and the time duration for this section is 2 hours.
Paper-II includes General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension, it is for 200 marks and the time duration for this section is 3 hours.
2) Physical Test
100 meters race – The time limit for men and women is 16 seconds and 18 seconds respectively.
800 meters race – The time limit for men and women is 3 minutes 45 seconds and 4 minutes 45 seconds respectively.
Long jump – The qualifying distances for men and women are 3.5 meters and 3 meters respectively.
Shot put – The qualifying distance for men is 4.5 meters.
3) Interview
This round is for 150 marks.
