JKSSB is a recruiting board established by the Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir. It aims to conduct exams for various departmental services or non-gazetted posts in Jammu & Kashmir. Also, J&K became two Union Territories of J&K under the Jammu & Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019.

Previously, many announcements are issued by the JKSSB which is one of the major recruitment bodies. The ads are under the Revenue Department, Administrative Department, Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Department, and Skill Development Department. But, The most recent are two advertisements for District/Divisional/UT Cadre posts of various Departments. It is under the provisions of the J&K Civil Services – Decentralization and Recruitment Act, 2010. Precisely, the vacancies are from various departments such as Animal/Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Forest, Ecology and Environment, General Administration Department. Even, some vacancies are from Health & Medical Education, and Department of Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

Therefore, candidates who are willing to apply must be aware of the qualifying criteria. Also, knowledge of selection process is beneficial. Therefore, one can read the this article to learn more about the JKSSB Recruitment.

The detailed notification has important information about the exam. For example, exam eligibility, reservation policy, and fee for the exam. In fact, total vacancies available, key dates in the exam process are also given in the notification.

Further, on the official portal of JKSSB, the release date of Advt. No. 03/ 2021 was 4th June 2021. Where as, Advt. No. 04/ 2021 was posted on 17th July 2021.



  • The JKSSB has been in the news since last year. The newly formed UTs posted a series of advertisements.  Announcements are for a number of vacancies in various sectors. The state’s recruitment board need candidates for a various posts. The board is usually in the news because of a notification of a large number of vacancies or an announcement of the dates for various selection processes.
  • July 31, 2021: last day of application for various positions named in advt. no. 03/2021 were extended to 3RD of August 2021.



The most recent tentative schedule of the Board’s recruitment process are for Notification No’s 01-07 of 2020. Exams for these advertisements were to take place from March 2021 to June 2021. But, these are expected to change due to:

  • The outcome of Court Orders.
  • Changes due to unavoidable situations. For example, worldwide pandemic due to coronavirus (COVID-19)

Candidates who are willing to apply for the various positions should be prepared in advance. The starting and the last date of the application process for both the advertisements are given in the table below:

  • The last date for submission for the advt. no. 03/2021 was extended two times. First, till 31st of July 2021. Further, it was extended to 3rd of August 2021.
  • The exam dates are yet to be revealed by the JKSSB for the advertisements stated above, The application process has started for the jobs advertised.
  • The Board announces the s date, time as well as syllabus for each of the advertised exams separately.



  • The application fee is INR 350 for all aspirants.
  • As there is no rule for fee payment through offline mode. Therefore, aspirants have to pay the fee through the online system only.
  • Fee can be paid by Net Banking, Credit, or Debit cards.
  • In fact, applications received without the application fee will be rejected. No objections to such rejection will be accepted. The fee will not be repaid under any case. It will neither be applied to any other exam or selection.
  • All issues related to the reimbursement of excess payment, if any, are resolved by the JKSSB. Candidates are advised to ask for a refund of any excess payment only through the official site www.ssbjk.org.in. No chargeback requests will be considered.



Individuals who are willing to apply for the JKSSB exams must know the nationality, age criteria, and educational qualifications to move ahead with the process. The candidates must fulfill these basic criteria. Failing which they will be considered to be ineligible.



  • The educational requirements will vary depending on the post you wish to apply for. Additionally, they will also differ within departments.
  • Applicants must have a 10th and 12th certificates for all positions advertised.
  • The maximum educational requirement varies by position. It might be a diploma, Graduation, degree, Post-Graduation, B.E/ B. Tech, M.E/ M. Tech, MBBS. In fact any other comparable degree from a recognized board/institute/university is also valid. It depends on the post applied for.

For selection by the JKSSB, graduate with 60% marks, and having a speed of 65 words per minute in shorthand and 35 words per minute in typewriting along with a 6-month certificate course in computer application.


2 Year’s Draftsman Training Course Certificate or Diploma with 60% marks in aggregate.

Field Inspector

3 year’s diploma in Civil or Electrical or Mechanical or Environmental Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate

Assistant Information Officer

Graduate and have a Degree/ Diploma in Mass Communication 60% marks in aggregate

Assistant Law officer

L.L.B with 3 years practice at Bar, preferably experience in Environmental laws

Research Assistant

Social Forestry Worker

1) Academic: Matric. Physical standard (Height: 163cms).

2) Fitness Test: 25 km of walk to be completed in 4 hours, Physical fitness certificate from CMO

Lab Assistant

12th  or equivalent with biology as one of the subject is required for this post of JKSSB

Driver (Grade-II)

Minimum 10th and Maximum 12th, having valid HGV/PS V Driving License.


Minimum 10th and Maximum 12th, with a diploma in the relevant Trade.

Wild Life Guard

1)      Minimum 10th and Maximum 12th from recognized Institution with the following Physical Standards – 1. Male -163 cm height. 2. Female -150 cm height

2)      Physical Fitness Test: (Walk on foot) a) Male -25 km in 4 hours b) Female – 16 km in 4 hours.

Physical Fitness Certificate from Chief Medical Officer.

Junior Stenographer

1) Graduate having a typing speed of 65 and 35 words per minute in shorthand and typewriting respectively.

2) Six months certificate course in Computer Applications.

Junior Assistant

1) Graduate with speed not less than 35 words speed per minute.

2) Six months Certified Course in Computer Applications.

Junior Scale Stenographer

Graduate with minimum speed of 65 and 35 words per minute in shorthand and typewriting respectively

Junior Legal Assistant

Law Graduate.

Drug Control Officer

Degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Medicine with a specialty in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology.

Assistant Food Analyst

Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Dairy Chemistry, Food Technology, Food, and Nutrition, or a related field. Holds a Bachelor of Technology in Dairy/Oil or a degree in Veterinary Sciences, is an associate of the Institution of Chemists in India via examination in the section of Food Analyst conducted by the Institution of Chemists in India, or any other equivalent qualification authorized and notified by the Central Government for such purposes.



Individuals who wish to apply for the JKSSB exam must be:

  • Indian citizens.
  • Domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It should be as defined under Notifications issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India.

Additionally, the candidates must go through the guidelines very carefully. As some of the important details might have been altered after the reorganization of J&K in 2019.

A two-stage selection method is used by the JKSSB for recruitment. In order to get posted, candidates must clear both the written examination and the document verification. The candidate must pass a written test as part of the selection process. It is followed by a Document Verification, immediately. The exam format for the written test is as follows.

  • It is an OMR-based test. Objective Type Questions are asked.
  • For the post of Junior Assistant and Junior Stenographer, Skill Test exam/Computer Based Test (CBT) is required.
  • Before appearing in the JKSSB exam the candidate must check the official notification. Information on the exam pattern and marks will be given there as well.


Document Verification

In the end, the candidates who pass the written test will be called for document verification. For JKSSB document verification, the following documents must be presented-

  • 10th certificate
  • 12th certificate/ Diploma
  • Graduation certificate. For equivalent qualification, an order or letter is required, under which it was thus regarded.
  • Caste certificate
  • Domicile certificate
  • Physical disability certificate ( if the reservation is claimed under this category )



  • Candidates can get their admit cards for JKSSB 2021 from the official website.
  • The JKSSB Admit Card 2021 is required to enter the exam hall.
  • Admit cards are available for download at least 2 weeks before the exam. In fact, the candidates should check the official website regularly for any developments.
  • After downloading the Admit Card of JKSSB 2021, the candidates must verify the details given on the admit card. This done to avoid any misinformation.
  • Important information is provided in the admit card. For example, Name, Gender, Photographs, Sign, Roll No. etc.
  • Moreover, it is advisable to save a hard as well as a soft copy of admit card for the reference in future.



The JKSSB releases the written exam results as soon as possible on the JKSSB’s official site. Then, the students can check their exam results to know if they succeeded or failed. At the end, students’ written exam scores for the JKSSB will decide whether or not they are called in for document verification. Document Verification is the next and last step in the selection process

The JKSSB results include personal information. The candidate’s name, roll number, category is mentioned. Along with the personal information, marks received by the candidate in the written test is also mentioned.



Candidates should fill the application form as soon as possible. Also, they need to be sure that they are eligible for a certain exam. Surely, they can apply without any problems if they follow the directions below.

  • Firstly, Visit the official JKSSB’s recruitment website, i.e. jkssb.nic.in.
  • Then, in the top right corner of the page, click on the Applicants Registration link.
  • Next, the candidate provides your Name, Gender, Email ID, and Mobile Number, and even a Password of your choice.
  • Now, go to the Registration tab. An OTP will be sent, which will then be verified. This signals the end of the online registration process.
  • Aspirants should then log in, by entering their Email ID and Password. Then select the Login tab. Following that, complete advt. will be shown under the latest openings section.
  • Finally, aspirants should press the continue button. Fill out the application form with documents and personal, educational, and contact information, as well as any other information that is requested. Continue to the next level by clicking and saving.
  • Aspirants must now upload their signature and photo as specified. To illustrate, the softcopy of the photo and the signature should be at least 1 MB and must be in jpg format.
  • Before submitting the application form of JKSSB, recheck all of the information and documents.
  • In the end, pay the application fee. Also, print a copy of the completed application form for the next level.
