The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the prestigious Civil Services Examination (CSE). The examination takes place for selecting the right candidates for 24 vital posts in India. IRS 2022 Exam – the Indian Revenue Service examination is a category A governmental service. IRS is a Central Civil Service that belongs to the Union Ministry of Finance’s Department of Revenue. UPSC released the Civil Service Examination (CSE) notifications on 2nd February 2022. The application forms were available until 22nd February 2022. IRS 2022 Examination Date

On 2nd February 2022, UPSC published the notification of the 2022 IRS exam. The Commission has announced new exam dates for the 2022 IAS and IRS Mains examinations.

Application Fee for IRS Exam 2022

While applying for the UPSC CSE examination, the candidates coming under the category have to submit an application fee as mentioned below.

Candidates can pay the application fee both Offline or Online.

  • Applicants can use SBI Net Banking or a debit/credit/Rupay card to pay for their online options.
  • Candidates will get a pay slip during the registration process.

For Offline:

  • Applicants must pay the fee in any SBI branch for an offline way of payment.
  • Candidates paying cash should print the Pay-in-slip provided by the system.
  • The very next working day applicant must deposit cash at an SBI branch’s counter.
  • If the Candidate fails to pay the fee in cash by the deadline, although having a valid pay-in-slip, they must pay the charge online.

UPSC IRS Eligibility Criteria 2022

Candidates are eligible based on factors like nationality, education level, age and academic qualifications. The Indian Revenue Service exam has similar eligibility requirements as other UPSC exams. After passing the civil services exam, UPSC assigns candidates to the Indian Revenue Service based on their rank. Therefore, candidates must meet the criteria to pass the exam.

Educational Qualifications for IRS Exam

IRS aspirants must have any of the following qualifications to be eligible to apply for the examination.

  • A bachelor’s degree acquired through distance learning or correspondence education.
  • A Central, State, or Deemed University degree
  • Certificate from Open University
  • Any qualification acknowledged by the Indian Government is equivalent to all the above-given qualifications.

Candidates must provide proof of eligibility from a competent authority/institute/university at the time of the main examination; otherwise, they will not be permitted to take the exam.

  • Applicants who have passed their MBBS final exam but are yet to complete their internship.
  • Candidates who have passed the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI); ICSI; and ICWAI are eligible.
  • A Degree of Bachelors from any Private college or university.
  • Any degree from a foreign university under the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) is acceptable.

Nationality

  • An Indian citizen
  • A person of Indian descent who intends to permanently reside in India after migrating from Myanmar, Pakistan, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Zaire, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Zambia, Malawi, or Vietnam is eligible.

Age Limit

The age limit of the candidate must be at least 21 years and a maximum of up to 32 years for General category candidates. The mentioned below are the upper age limits:

  • 35 years – For OBC
  • Up to 37 years – SC/ST
  • Candidates under other exceptional categories, as well as physically challenged applicants, are granted an exemption.

Vacancies Under IRS

UPSC – Union Public Service Commission has stated that there will be 861 vacancies this year. The announcement follows the issuance of UPSC Notification 2022 on February 2nd, 2022.

Comparatively, in 2022, there are 149 more UPSC vacancies than in 2021. The number of UPSC vacancies varies depending on the needs of various ministries. After receiving a firm number of openings from Controlling Authorities, the final number of vacancies for the UPSC Exam 2022 may alter.

Whereas, there are 22 opportunities for persons with Benchmark Disability out of 861 UPSC posts for 2022. The following are the opening details:

  • 11 – openings for deaf and hard-of-hearing people

IRS Exam 2022 Syllabus

The UPSC CSE (Civil Service Exam) is in three phases:

  • Preliminary
  • Mains
  • Interview

Prelims/Preliminary Exam evaluates the aspirant’s knowledge and understanding of current events and skills in aptitude. The examination is like the base of the UPSC exam. Therefore, the examination has two different Papers.

PAPER I

1. National movement & Indian History
2. Indian Polity and Governance – Political System, Constitution, Public Policy, Rights Issues, Panchayati Raj, etc.;
3. Indian and World Geography- Indian Economic Geography, the World as well as Social;
4. General issues on Climate Change; Economic and Social Development – Social Sector Initiatives, Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, etc.;
5. Bio-diversity;
6. General Science;
7. Environmental ecology;
8. As well as, Current affairs of international & national interest;

PAPER-II

1. Comprehension;
2. Logical reasoning as well as analytical ability;
3. Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
4. General mental ability;
5. Solving problems and Decision planning
6. Basic Numerals (orders of magnitude, numbers and their relations, etc.) (Class X level), as well as, Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc. – Class X level).

The syllabus of the main examination is from the Subject selected by the candidate. Thus, Mains Exam consists of a total of 9 Papers.

UPSC IRS Exam Pattern

Aspirants who want to work in the revenue services must clear the UPSC Civil Services examination. By all means, only candidates with a bachelor’s degree are eligible to take the entrance exam. After passing the entrance exam, aspirants thus need to attend training at the National Academy of Direct Taxes. The hiring process will take place in the revenue services after completing the course.

Admit Card for UPSC Exam

Just like any other entrance exam, the admit card for this exam is one of the crucial documents to enter the UPSC examination Center. At least before 4 weeks of the examination date, UPSC releases the admit card. To clarify, candidates can only download Admit Card from the official website. Candidates will receive the admit card three-four weeks before the exam date. The official website, www.upsc.gov.in, provides admit cards for the Civil Services Main Exam and Preliminary Exams.

The candidate’s name, father’s name, DOB, photograph, signature, and address of the allotted Exam Centre, with other information, are available on the UPSC CSE admit card. Candidates must review and verify all of the information on the admission card after downloading it. You must report any discrepancies to the authorities by email to uscsp-upsc@nic.in.

Most importantly to enter the examination centre, you must have your admit card and ID evidence with you.

IRS Exam Result

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is in charge of conducting the country’s most prestigious entrance examinations. The examination takes place to shortlist candidates for various positions in the federal government.

After completing the IRS selection processes, surely, UPSC will release the result on the official website. The addition of both The UPSC Mains and the personal test marks will give the overall mark. All the shortlisted applicants’ names and roll numbers will appear on the final IAS exam merit list.

How to Apply for UPSC IRS?

Since 2015, the application method for the Civil Services Examination has changed. UPSC only accepts application online for any examination. No other application mode is permitted. Candidates must apply online for all UPSC exams at the following website: www.upsconline.nic.in. Now, go through the below steps to apply for the UPSC examination.

  • Apply for the UPSC IRS Exam on the official website www.upsconline.nic.in
  • If there is any requirement for more than one application, then, the applicant must ensure that the earlier application is complete in all aspects with the Registration ID.
  • Candidates already employed by the government, government-owned industrial ventures, or other comparable institutions or in the private sector can apply directly to the Commission.

Other information

  • Candidates currently working under Government must provide an agreement to inform the head of the Department/Office about the examination they are about to attend. If the applicants are working in a permanent or temporary role, as casual or daily rated employees, or working under public undertakings.
  • Candidates should be aware that a letter has been received from their application due to the Commission’s refusal to grant authorization to the candidates applying/appearing in the test. Thus, the authority will reject the application and also revoke the candidature.
