The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the prestigious Civil Services Examination (CSE). The examination takes place for selecting the right candidates for 24 vital posts in India. Out of the 24 posts, the most sought-after posts of all are of the Indian Revenue Services (IRS), Indian Police Services (IPS), and Indian Administrative Service (IAS). The job of an IRS officer is multi-faceted and includes different roles like the collector, cabinet secretary, chief secretary, etc. Thus, IRS officers’ duties vary from implementing policies to dealing with the finance of the country.
On 02nd February 2022, the most awaited UPSC Notification of Civil Services Exam 2022 got out. The application forms were also released for the Civil service Examination. As per the schedule, the Prelim examination was held on 05th June 2022.
Candidates aspiring to enter the revenue department, that is, an IRS officer must appear in the same examination. The application remained open till 22nd February 2022.
IRS 2022 Exam – the Indian Revenue Service examination is a category A governmental service. IRS is a Central Civil Service that belongs to the Union Ministry of Finance’s Department of Revenue. And it is responsible for the collection and management of direct and indirect taxes that accrue to the Union Government.
IRS has two branches:
1. IRS (Customs and Central Excise).
2. IRS (Income Tax)

UPSC released the Civil Service Examination (CSE) notifications on 2nd February 2022. The application forms were available until 22nd February 2022. Aspirants can apply online via the UPSC Official website, without any hassle. Candidates aspiring to get into IRS (Indian Revenue Service) must apply for the UPSC exam. Candidates can pay the application fee both Offline or Online.

Candidates are eligible based on factors like nationality, education level, age and academic qualifications. The Indian Revenue Service exam has similar eligibility requirements as other UPSC exams. After passing the civil services exam, UPSC assigns candidates to the Indian Revenue Service based on their rank. Therefore, candidates must meet the criteria to pass the exam.

IRS aspirants must have any of the following qualifications to be eligible to apply for the examination.
Candidates must provide proof of eligibility from a competent authority/institute/university at the time of the main examination; otherwise, they will not be permitted to take the exam.

The age limit of the candidate must be at least 21 years and a maximum of up to 32 years for General category candidates. The mentioned below are the upper age limits:
UPSC – Union Public Service Commission has stated that there will be 861 vacancies this year. The announcement follows the issuance of UPSC Notification 2022 on February 2nd, 2022.
Comparatively, in 2022, there are 149 more UPSC vacancies than in 2021. The number of UPSC vacancies varies depending on the needs of various ministries. After receiving a firm number of openings from Controlling Authorities, the final number of vacancies for the UPSC Exam 2022 may alter.

The UPSC CSE (Civil Service Exam) is in three phases:
Prelims/Preliminary Exam evaluates the aspirant’s knowledge and understanding of current events and skills in aptitude. The examination is like the base of the UPSC exam. Therefore, the examination has two different Papers.

2. Indian Polity and Governance – Political System, Constitution, Public Policy, Rights Issues, Panchayati Raj, etc.;
3. Indian and World Geography- Indian Economic Geography, the World as well as Social;
4. General issues on Climate Change; Economic and Social Development – Social Sector Initiatives, Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, etc.;
5. Bio-diversity;
6. General Science;
7. Environmental ecology;
8. As well as, Current affairs of international & national interest;
1. Comprehension;
2. Logical reasoning as well as analytical ability;
3. Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
4. General mental ability;
5. Solving problems and Decision planning
6. Basic Numerals (orders of magnitude, numbers and their relations, etc.) (Class X level), as well as, Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc. – Class X level).
The syllabus of the main examination is from the Subject selected by the candidate. Thus, Mains Exam consists of a total of 9 Papers.

Aspirants who want to work in the revenue services must clear the UPSC Civil Services examination. By all means, only candidates with a bachelor’s degree are eligible to take the entrance exam. After passing the entrance exam, aspirants thus need to attend training at the National Academy of Direct Taxes. The hiring process will take place in the revenue services after completing the course.

Just like any other entrance exam, the admit card for this exam is one of the crucial documents to enter the UPSC examination Center. At least before 4 weeks of the examination date, UPSC releases the admit card. To clarify, candidates can only download Admit Card from the official website. Candidates will receive the admit card three-four weeks before the exam date. The official website, www.upsc.gov.in, provides admit cards for the Civil Services Main Exam and Preliminary Exams.
The candidate’s name, father’s name, DOB, photograph, signature, and address of the allotted Exam Centre, with other information, are available on the UPSC CSE admit card. Candidates must review and verify all of the information on the admission card after downloading it. You must report any discrepancies to the authorities by email to uscsp-upsc@nic.in.
Most importantly to enter the examination centre, you must have your admit card and ID evidence with you.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is in charge of conducting the country’s most prestigious entrance examinations. The examination takes place to shortlist candidates for various positions in the federal government.
