The KSET (Karnataka State Eligibility Test) is conducted by the University of Mysore (recognized by UGC). Candidates that qualify for the KSET exam are eligible for the post of Lecturers / Assistant Professors of Universities / Colleges / Institutions (Government / Aided / Private) of Karnataka State.
The Karnataka SET application process is expected to begin in March 2023. A candidate who has a Master’s degree or he/ she is in the final year of any Master’s degree course can apply for the exam. The KSET Exam 2023 will be conducted in offline mode. The exam consists of two papers with multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

Candidates should check the KSET eligibility criteria before registering for the KSET 2023 exam. The eligibility criteria involve academic qualification, age limit, age relaxation as reservation, and many more. There is no higher age limit for the candidates to apply for the KSET Exam 2023. Therefore, candidates who are 21 years or older can apply for the KSET exam 2023.
Candidates should have secured a minimum of 55% of marks (For the general category) and 50% for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Disability (PWD), OBCs [Cat-I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, and IIIB] in master’s degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by the UGC New Delhi, in the subjects opted for KSET.
Important Points to Remember:
Candidates pursuing their master’s degree or equivalent course or have appeared for their master’s degree (Final Year) examination and waiting for results may also apply for the exam.
So candidates are admitted with qualifications, and for these, which clear the KSET. Eligibility certificates are issued individually on the production of proof of having passed the master’s degree. Or similar examination securing a minimum of 55% marks (50% in case of SC, ST, OBC, and PWD candidates) within 2 years from the date of KSET result, failing. They’re going to be treated as disqualified.
Candidates should solely appear for the KSET exam within the relevant subject of their post-graduation. Just in case the candidates can’t find the subject of their post-graduation within the list of KSET subjects. Then they’ll appear within the UGC-NET/ UGC-CSIR NET held twice a year.
Candidates from the OBCs (SC, ST & alternative Backward Classes) category and from states other than Karnataka shall apply under the General Merit (GM) category solely.
Candidates who became eligible in the previous KSETs don’t allow to apply again within the same subject. If any candidate is found eligible for earlier KSET tests and reappears for the same subject within the current KSET, the candidature will be canceled, and the previous eligibility is withdrawn through de-notification.
Ph.D. degree candidates whose master’s examination had been completed by September 19, 1991, are eligible for a relaxation of 5% in their aggregate score.
A candidate must meet the Nationality/ Citizenship criteria to be eligible to take the KSET exam 2023. A candidate willing to apply for the KSET exam 2023 must be an Indian Citizen. Apart from Indian Citizens, candidates from different countries cannot register for the exam.
There are some exemptions to the KSET eligibility that candidates should go through. KSET eligibility remains the minimum eligibility for recruiting and appointing Assistant Professors in Universities/Colleges/Institutions of upper education (Govt./Aided/Private) in Karnataka State.
The candidates who have passed the UGC-NET/CSIR JRF examination before 1989 are exempted from the KSET examination.
For SET Candidates: The candidates who have cleared the States Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Assistant Professor held before June 1, 2002, are exempted from appearing within the KSET. Being eligible to apply for Assistant Professor anyplace in India. For SET held from June 1, 2002, onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor solely within the Universities/Colleges situated within the state from wherever they have cleared their SET.

Note:
The admit card should be carried by the candidate to the examination hall on the day of the examination without fail. Otherwise, the candidate will not be allowed to attend the examination.

Candidates should carry a printout of the admit card with a valid photo identity proof to the exam center. The photo identity will be Aadhar Card, PAN card, Passport, Voter ID, driver’s license, etc.
The KSET 2023 Exam shall be conducted in 11 different test centers across Karnataka. Candidates shall select anyone test center from the given choices while filling out the application form. The test center after selection is final and can’t be modified by the candidate under any circumstances.

Per the directions on the KSET Admit card, candidates shall be present at the examination hall at 9 AM for the primary KSET session and at 1 PM for the second KSET session. No candidates are allowed to the examination hall/room after 10 AM for the primary session and 2 PM for the second session.
KSET exam pattern 2023 is such that the test contains two papers- Paper I and II. Each KSET paper is conducted in a different combined session on a similar day. Candidates need to appear in either paper to qualify for the exam. Each paper comprises multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Paper I contains 50 MCQs, and Paper 2 contains 100 MCQs. The syllabus for the KSET 2023 is not declared yet by the University of Mysore. However, here is a reference to the KSET syllabus from previous years. The KSET syllabus is divided into 2 sections: Paper I and Paper II. KSET Paper I syllabus includes topics from General Knowledge and Aptitude. Candidates selected for the post of Lecturer/ Assistant Professor through the exam are eligible for a salary as per the pay scale. A salary consists of several benefits and allowances. The basic pay range of the Lecturers and Assistant Professors selected through the KSET Exam 2023 is from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 40,000. A candidate will get the desired compensation during the probation period.
After passing the KSET Recruitment 2023 exam and getting hired, candidates are eligible for basic pay as determined by the 7th Pay Commission. The salary ranges may be subject to change and can be as follows: 9300 – 34800, 5200 – 20200, 67000 – 79000, 15600 – 39100, 75500 – 80000, 37400 – 67000, 90000, 80000, based on the 7th pay commission.
