OPSC Eligibility Criteria

OPSC has released several vacancies for different posts in the Advertisement No. 08 of 2023 – 24. To be eligible for the post, candidates must fulfill certain eligibility requirements. Candidates fulfilling those eligibility requirements will be eligible to take the 2024 exam.

OPSC Age Limit

The OPSC Government exam appearing candidates must fulfill the age requirement mentioned below. The appearing candidates for the OPSC exam must have reached 21 years of age and must be less than 32 years of age. The required age must be attained as of 1st January 2023 i.e., the aspirant must not be born before 2nd January 1985 and not after 1st January 2002.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must qualify for the educational qualification essentials to be eligible for the role. The requirement for Academic Qualification is stated below:

  • The aspirant needs to have a Bachelor’s Degree. The candidate should have received an undergraduate degree from any UGC or State recognized University.
  • The Bachelor’s degree must have at least one of the following subjects – Chemistry, Geology, Botany, Mathematics, Physics, Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Statistics, or a degree in Forestry, Agriculture, Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.

Apart from the above-mentioned eligibility conditions, OPSC also has other eligibility conditions:

  • The aspirants must be well-versed in writing, speaking, and reading in the regional language Odia, or
  • The aspirants need to complete Class VII education from a school or organization that must have recognition by the Government of Odisha, or
  • The aspirants must have passed Odia language subject in Middle school, or
  • The aspirants must have cleared HC or Equivalent exam in Odia as the medium of examination, or
  • The aspirant must have passed Class X or equivalent with Odia as a subject.

Candidates who fail to qualify in the physical standards and physical endurance test or are unable to fulfill any provision shall be disqualified from the purpose of the appointment.

OPSC Application

Online applications are accepted for the position. Candidates can submit their applications through the OPSC website. Candidates must ensure they have all necessary identification documents, a working phone number, and an email address before applying. The steps below should be followed by applicants.

Application fees

As per Advertisement Number 08 of 2023 – 24, there will be no examination fee for any category as per the GA & PG Department Notification number – 9897, released on 11th April 2022.

How To Apply For OPSC Application?

The application process for the recruitment process will start on 17th January 2024. The application process will end on 16th February 2024. When completing the application form, keep the following procedures in mind: On the official website, select the link for the most recent notifications.

  • Begin the registration procedure by logging in to the official website.
  • Generate user id and password by registering in the portal.

The admit card for the position of Assistant Horticulture Officer, Geologist, Assistant Agriculture Officer, Post Graduate Teacher, Civil Judge, Odisha Judiciary Service, and Veterinary Assistant Surgeon has been made available on the OPSC website. How to Download OPSC Admit Card 2024:

  • Visit the Odisha Public Service Commission.
  • Candidates will find the “Download Admission Certificate” popup link on the home page.

OPSC Exam Pattern

The exam pattern of the OPSC exam is disclosed by the commission along with the syllabus. OPSC conducts the written exam to filter the candidates for the further selection procedure. But before going for the preparation for the exam, aspirants make sure they have gone through the detailed OPSC exam pattern. The Exam Conducting Body sets question papers for all the exams in the English language only. The OPSC Commission provides the candidates with a choice of writing their answers in English or Odia only.  OPSC asks the aspirants to specify their preferred optional subjects in the online form itself. Therefore, when the candidates are selecting their respective languages, they must choose only one language.  More than one language will not be allowed in the exam. OPSC conducts the exam in three stages that are:

OPSC Prelims Exam Pattern:

The OPSC preliminary examination comprises General Studies Paper -I, and General Studies Paper II. General Studies papers contain the objective type of questions. OPSC Mains Exam Pattern

The OPSC Mains examination comprises five mandatory papers and four optional papers. All the candidates have to select two optional subjects along with the compulsory papers. The mains exam covers nine subjects comprising mandatory papers and optional exam papers. So, here is the exam pattern for the mains exam. Check the table given below:

OPSC Interview

Candidates who meet the cutoff for the main exam will receive an invitation to a personality test (interview). The personality test carries a maximum score of 200.

OPSC Result and Cutoffs

The Odisha Public Service Commission will announce the results of the OPSC Examination on its website. Candidates can simply check their results by going to the official website. The OPSC examination cut-off will be announced in three stages: Preliminary, Main, and Interview. Only once candidates pass the minimal cut-off requirements will they be shortlisted for the positions.

To get the scorecard of the result, candidates will need their Login ID and password. After that, the aspirant will be able to see their scores. As per the general timeline of OPSC, after the exams, the candidate can expect the OPSC Result to be out in one or two months.
