About Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission

Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) is a constitutional body. The government of India established JKPSC under articles 128 and 133. The primary purpose of JKPSC is to conduct civil service exams to recruit candidates for the different government posts in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

It is an autonomous body. Hence, it selects the candidates based on a merit list and reservations rights. JKPSC aims to choose the most capable and worthy candidates for operating the civil services and posts. Moreover, candidates should perform other functions assigned to the Commission by the mandate of the Constitution.

The state-level governing body exercises utmost impartiality, objectivity, and efficiency in accomplishing its tasks. In addition,  it works in a time-bound manner and transparently, using technological innovations wherever feasible.

About JKPSC exam 2021

JKPSC conducts J & K Combined Services Competitive Examination (KAS) to recruit capable and deserving candidates. The exam takes place once a year in Jammu and Kashmir. The combined competitive exam recruits candidates in these departments:

  • Junior Scale of J&K Administrative Service
  • J&K Police (Gazetted) Service
  • J&K Accounts (Gazetted) Service.

All the information regarding the exam is published on the official website of JKPSC. In addition, the JKPSC conducts this exam once per year in offline mode.

Selection Process

The JKPSC conducts Combined competitive exams to three different posts, namely:

  • Junior Scale of J&K Administrative Service
  • J&K Police (Gazetted) Service
  • J&K Accounts (Gazetted) Service.

The recruitment drive consists of three major stages:

  • Preliminary exam
  • Mains exam
  • Interview round/Personality test

The selection of the candidates is based on their overall performance in written tests – Prelims and Mains, and interview round. The JKPSC will select the final candidates for the different posts only after the interview round. The authority will publish a list of all the qualifying candidates on their official website. Moreover, the prelim exam is objective-based, but the Mains exam is both objective and descriptive. Additionally, the preliminary exam is likely to be held on 24 October 2021.

JKPSC Application Fee

Candidates must pay the application fee on time. The application process will be successful only after the payment of the application fee.

JKPSC Eligibility criteria

Candidates must check eligibility criteria before they apply. JKPSC will not consider any ineligible candidate. Moreover, the authority has the right to cancel the candidature if found ineligible at any time of the recruitment process.

Domicile of Jammu and Kashmir

Must be a domicile of Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, they should also hold a domicile certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format of 12 April 2021.

Educational Qualification

  • Must be a Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university in India or a foreign university declared by the Government in consultation with the Commission to be equivalent to a recognized university degree.
  • Say if you have appeared for your Bachelor’s Degree examination in 2021. Then,  you must provide proof that you had fully appeared for the said examination on or before the last date of filling the JKPSC Application form 2021 for the Prelims. In addition, you should have also passed your Graduation when filling up the JKPSC Mains Application form.

Note:

The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions for admission to the Examination. However, suppose during any exam stage that they do not meet any of the eligibility conditions. In that case, JKPSC will cancel the candidature for the examination.

Earlier, JKPSC had announced 257 vacancies for accounts, police, and administrative service. However, they released another notification reducing the number of vacancies in the J & K Police Service department to 71. Thus, the total vacancy for 2021 is 187 vacancies.

JKPSC Salary

JKPSC has given the following pay structure for all the selected candidates:

  • The pay scale of a JKPSC KAS is Rs 9400/- to Rs 34800/-.
  • Grade pay Rs 4800/- which is allotted as per the 7th Pay Commission.
  • Along with a basic monthly salary, candidates also get extra allowances such as a dearness allowance.
  • The annual package for JKPSC KAS is around Rs 4,17,000/-.

Note: Pay structure varies depending upon candidates’ positions. Moreover, as they spend more years in their service, their pay scale increases.

  • Marks obtained in the qualifying paper (English) will not be considered for the ranking. 
  • The essay’ General Studies and Optional Subject paper will be considered only those candidates who obtain a minimum of 25% in English.

 

JKPSC Interview round

This is the final round of the recruitment process. After successfully qualifying for the interview round, the candidate will become eligible for a government post in Jammu and Kashmir. However, candidates must prepare themselves for this round as this is a significant round.

This round consists of 250 marks.

 

JKPSC Admit Card 2021

The JKPSC Prelim exam is going to be held on 24 October 2021. Thus, the admit card will be released in the second week of October 2021.

Candidates can download their admit cards from the official website of JKPSC. All the details of the Prelim exam will be present on their admit card.

Admit card is an essential document. Without it, the candidate will not be able to sit for the exam. Furthermore, no correction will be allowed once the admit card is issued. How to download the JKPSC admit card 2021?

JKPSC will release the admit card a week before the exam. Hence, follow these steps to download the JKPSC admit card 2021:

  • First, go to the official site of JKPSC – http://jkpsc.nic.in/
  • Then, click on the ‘What’s New’ section on the Homepage.
  • Go to the link that reads Download Admit Card.
  • Then a new page would open.
  • Then, enter your login credentials like Roll Number, Date of Birth, or anything else as asked.
  • After this, your JKPSC Admit Card would be displayed on the screen.
  • Finally, download and print it for the exam day.

 

JKPSC Result 2021

The JKPSC exam consists of three levels – Prelims, Mains, and Interview. After the prelims result, all the selected candidates will become eligible for the mains exam. Similarly, after the mains result, JKPSC releases the merit list of all the qualifying candidates. Hence, only the shortlisted candidate will be called for the interview round.

The interview round is the last stage in the JKPSC recruitment. Thus, as this round is completed, the JKPSC will announce the final list of selected candidates on their official website.

JKPSC prepares the merit list of all the qualifying candidates. After this, all the selected candidates are posted at different positions in Jammu and Kashmir. After that, the commission will decide on the allotment of services and do it as soon as possible once the result gets announced.

How to Check UPPCL JE Result 2021

JKPSC will release the result within a month of the exam. Hence, the candidates can follow these steps to check JKPSC result 2021:

  • First, go to the official website of JKPSC.
  • Then, click on the notifications tab.
  • Now, click on the “JKPSC Result 2021” Link.
  • Here, enter your examination roll number as on your admit card.
  • Next, fill in all the other details asked on the result page.

Cut-off Marks

The Cut-off list is the basis on which JKPSC selects candidates for the next stage. The candidate must score between 250-300 in the prelim exam. Only then will they be able to give the mains exam.

JKPSC declares the result in the form of a cut-off list. A separate cut-off list is published for the Prelims and Mains exam. Hence, this list is used to select candidates for the final round of recruitment, i.e., interview/personality test. Thus, candidates must score more or equal to the cut-off list to qualify for the interview round. The interview round is crucial. After qualifying the interview round, JKPSC will appoint the candidates at different posts in Jammu and Kashmir.
