Karnataka Power Transmission Corp. Ltd. (KPTCL) came into being in 1999. It is responsible for power transmission and distribution for the state of Karnataka. It is the only authority for power transmission and distribution for the state. Initially, the Karnataka Electricity Board used to control electricity transmission and distribution in the state. But eventually, Karnataka Electricity Board was broken up and KPTCL was formed. KPTCL has the duty to handle the power transmission and distribution unit for the state of Karnataka.

KPTCL holds recruitment for different posts in the Corp. and ESCOM. For the recruitment to the posts, KPTCL conducts an exam known as KPTCL Exam. It is basically to test the technical knowledge of candidates in their respective fields. The selection process is divided into two parts which are as follows:
Written Exam:
There is a written exam for the eligible candidates. The written exam is the first qualifying round of the KPTCL Exam.
Interview:
The Candidates who clear the written exam will sit for the interview round. Those candidates whose names are on the merit list after Written Exam will be eligible for the interview.
The KPTCL Exam is a state-level test. KPTCL conducts the exams along with ESCOM for vacancies in both KPTCL and ESCOM. There is an online Aptitude Test for few posts. The KPTCL Exam is conducted in authorized centers throughout the State of Karnataka. The Candidate is asked to choose from the Exam Centers according to their preference. KPTCL has announced the apprenticeship recruitment for the year 2021. The recruitment is conducted for two posts only. They are namely Graduate Apprentice Technician apprentice. The job location for both the post is Karnataka.
In 2019, KPTCL and other ESCOMs announced recruitment for the position of Assistant Executive Engineer, Junior Engineer, etc. The total number of vacancies released is 3469. The notification for the exam held in 2019 is available on their official website.

The application form is released on the official website of KPTCL and the ESCOM. The application forms are to be submitted through online mode only. The candidates should keep a constant check on the official website of KPTCL for any new notification of exams/vacancies.
The openings in the KPTCL are also advertised in the national and regional newspapers as well. As and when the notification is released the interested candidates shall apply online. The candidates should apply before the lapse of time.

The official notification for the KPTCL Exam 2021 is generally released at the start of the year. Usually every year the notification goes public in January/ February for that year’s exam. But due to the existing pandemic situations, there has been a default in practice. The unpredictable policies of governments about lockdown in the country have postponed the exams.

The candidates have to fill the online application form for various posts. The application form can be filled when KPTCL puts out a notification for receipt of the application. The candidates should upload the required documents when prompted on the website. The documents include a photo ID, signature, photograph, etc.
The payment of prescribed fees should be made in either of the following two ways:
1. to make the application fee payment online through the e-post office
2. To deposit the application fees physically in any of the post offices in the State of Karnataka.
The payment of fees through the post office may incur a service charge. The service charge should be paid by the candidate himself.

Relaxation in age criteria purely depends on the decision of the KPTCL. This was clearly mentioned in the notification which was released in 2019 by KPTCL. The age calculation date will be considered as 4th April 2019. Furthermore, this indicates that till 4th April 2019, a candidate should not exceed the upper age limit.
The age limit for apprentice recruitment is as per the Apprenticeship Rules. It comes under the category of Apprenticeship (Amendment) Act 1973.
The total number of vacancies is 200 for the KPTCL Apprentice recruitment 2021. Out of these 200 vacancies 125 vacancies are reserved for the Graduate Apprentice. The rest 75 vacancies are reserved for the post of Technician Apprentice.

The training period for the apprenticeship is for 1 year. This is according to the rules in the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Act 1973.

The KPTCL holds the KPTCL Exam for various vacant posts under it. There are two rounds of the qualifying exam. They are namely:

The detailed syllabus of the written exam has been given on the official website of the KPTCL. The candidates should well in advance go through the syllabus. According to the syllabus and marks distribution, an effective exam plan should be made. The main subject will correspond to the Post applied for. General knowledge though is a common paper for all the posts irrespective of their nature. However, the marks scheme may differ.
According to the posts, the subjects and marks distribution scheme is displayed online. The candidates should ensure that the whole syllabus is studied for the exam. After the answer key is published, within a short period the results of the KPTCL Exam results are also announced. The result can be checked on the official website of the KPTCL and ESCOM.
