RPF SI Exam Body and About Exam

Railway Protection Force Sub Inspector exam is conducted by the Ministry of Railways every year. For the year 2021, the exam has not been announced yet. This exam is conducted for Railway Protection Force or Railway Protection Special Force. Recruitment is open for both female and male candidates.

Indian railways are divided into various zones. The railway protection force has its members guarding and securing railways in each of these zones. RPF SI recruitment is done together for each of these zones. There are no separate exams for each zone. Once the recruitment process is done, candidates can be transferred to any of the zones.

About Exam

These exams are conducted by the Ministry of Railways. Railway recruitment boards fall under the Ministry of Railways. There are a total of 21 recruitment boards under different zones. There are many exams conducted by these boards that are specific to their zones and areas. Recruitment for Sub Inspector for Railway Protection Force is done nationally. The zones are grouped. There are a total of 6 groups for different zones.

This exam is conducted at the same time at different centers all across the country. Also, the candidates can choose from 15 different languages for these exams.

RPF SI Exam Notification and News

RPF SI exams conducted in three parts-

  • Computer-based test
  • Physical efficiency test
  • Physical measurement test

After these, all the documents submitted by the candidates will be verified.

Candidates who clear the computer efficiency test move ahead to the physical efficiency test and physical measurement test.

For 2021, the RPF SI exams have not been declared yet. These exams are expected to be announced soon. Following are the details for the RPF SI exams that candidates must be aware of-

The recruitment announcement of RPF SI for 2021 is yet to be announced. Exam announcement will be done online. Therefore, candidates must keep visiting the railway’s website for it. There will also be a physical exam and medical check-up for it. Hence, candidates must be in a good shape. Until exams are being announced, candidates must remain physically active and full fill all the requirements. For this exam, the physical requirements for male and female candidates are different.

In 2018, vacancies were different for male and female candidates as well.

RPF SI Exam Dates

As mentioned, the exam notification for RPF SI for 2021is not yet released. This is a vacancy-based exam therefore the number of vacancies is also different every year. Vacancies for men and women candidates are also different and are not equally divided.

RPF SI Application Fees

Following are the important things to remember about application forms and fees-

  • Application forms are available only on the official website of Indian railways.
  • Application is filled online but candidates can pay a fee both online and offline.
  • For online payment, candidates can use net banking or credit /Debit cards, or different UPI platforms.
  • Offline payment of fee is done through challan of SBI bank.
  • Candidates must remember to take the fee receipt or some form of proof of paying the fees.
  • The application fee is different for candidates of different categories.

RPF SI Eligibility Criteria

To appear in the recruitment exam of RPF SI, candidates need to fulfill few criteria. These are divided into the following categories-

  • Nationality

Nationality

To appear in these recruitment exams, candidates must be of Indian nationality.

Educational Qualification

  • Every candidate appearing for Railway Protection Force Sub Inspector exam must have completed their graduation from a state or center recognized university.
  • If they have done some other course, it must be recognized by the government as the equivalent of graduation.
  • Candidates, who have given their final exams of graduation and are awaiting results, must not apply.

Physical Measurement

Once the candidates clear their Computer Efficient Test, they would move on to physical tests. There are certain physical requirements that candidates need to fulfill. Following is the list of those requirements-

Age Limit

  • The minimum age of the candidates appearing for RPF SI is 20 and the maximum age is 25.
  • There are relaxations for the upper limit of the age bracket for different categories. These are –

  • There is age relaxation for the ex-servicemen too. This is based on their service in the armed forces and their category.
  • Age relaxation for widows and separated or divorced women is also applicable. This differs for a different category.

RPF SI Vacancies

Recruitment for the post of sub-inspector in Railway Protection Force is vacancy-based recruitment. These vacancies change every year. Following are the few points to remember about the vacancy for RPF SI-

  • All the vacancies are provisional and are subject to change.
  • There is a 10% reservation for ex-servicemen and female candidates across all zones. In case these vacancies are unfilled, they will be filled by suitable male candidates.
  • Various governments mandated reservations for different categories are applicable.

RPF SI Salary

Candidates will be eligible for scale 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission matrix after a successful recruitment process and training period. This will give candidates an initial pay of Rs 35,000 along with all the bonuses. This pay scale will be applicable across all the zones.

RPF SI Exam Pattern

Recruitment exam for railway protection force is conducted in three parts-

  • Computer-Based test
  • Physical Efficiency test
  • Physical Measurement test

After these tests, document verification and a medical exam are done.

Computer-based test

  • The syllabus is divided into three parts-
  1. General Awareness
  2. Numeric ability or Arithmetic
  3. Reasoning Ability
  • This exam is for 90 min.
  • There is only one paper.
  • Candidates can opt from the list of languages for their papers. these languages are-

  • Each question will be of 1 mark. There is also negative marking for wrong answers.
  • Candidates are required to score 35% marks to clear the exam.
  • Cut-off marks for students of the SC/ST category are 30%.

Physical Efficiency Test 

In physical efficiency test, there are the following tests-

  • High Jump- 3 feet 9 inches for male candidates.
  • High Jump -3 feet for female candidates.
  • Long Jump- for male candidates.
  • Long Jump- for female candidates.
  • 1600m run- for male candidates (allotted time -6 min 30 sec).
  • 800 m run- for female candidates (allotted time-4 min).

Ex-servicemen, who appear for these exams, shall be exempted from the physical efficiency test. However, they have to appear for a physical measurement test.

Physical Measurement Test

Candidates who do not clear the physical measurement test or PMT are disqualified for this minimum height and chest measurement (expended and unexpended) is measured.

  • Chest measurement is done only for male candidates.
  • Male candidates who do not fulfill the minimum height requirement are disqualified. Their PET results are then not considered.
  • It should be noted that PET and PMT are qualifying tests. There are no marks given for these tests.
  • Candidates should qualify for both these exams.

Points to remember

  • In case there are vacant seats from the quota of female candidates and ex-servicemen, vacancies will then be filled by eligible male candidates.
  • If there are two candidates with similar ranking with respect to marks, candidates who are older in age will get a higher ranking on the list.

After, PET and PMT, document verification is done. Candidates should keep the following documents prepared-

  • 10th or matriculation mark sheet and certificate. This is needed for age proof.
  • Graduation certificate to confirm educational eligibility. Therefore, candidates who are appearing for their final year will not be able to appear for the RPF SI exam.
  • Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC) as prescribed by the govt. for employment purposes. Candidates would need this certificate if they want to avail the reservation.
  • Ex-servicemen would need to produce their discharge documents.
  • Two copies of self-attested photographs. It is suggested that all candidates should keep the same picture that they used to fill the application form. This would avoid any confusion.
  • Serving Government employees need to present a no-objection certificate from their current employer.
  • Domicile certificate.

RPF SI Admit Card

The admit card or hall ticket for the RPF SI Exam will be uploaded by the exam authorities on the website of the Ministry of Railways. Candidates must remember the following points-

  • Admit cards will be uploaded 10-15 days before the exams.
  • Candidates can verify their eligibility status from the website. The filling of the form does not ensure that all candidates will receive admit cards.
  • The exam authority will send an SMS and an e-mail regarding the upload of admit card. Therefore, candidates must make sure that their contact information is correct.
  • No, admit card or hall letter will be sent by post.
  • Candidates must follow all the instructions given on the admit card very carefully.
  • Candidates must carry their valid photo id and admit card to the exam center. In case they don’t have valid photo proof, they will not be allowed to sit for the exam.

RPF SI Result

The Ministry of Railways has not announced Railway protection force sub-inspector exams for the year 2021 yet. They will announce the date of the exam and result subsequently.

  • After the result for CBT (computer-based exam) is declared, candidates will be further informed about their physical tests and measurement.
  • Candidates who clear both the Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Measurement Test will then move on to the medical exam and document verification.

How to Apply?

Ministry of Railways announces the exams online. all the applicants will also fill the application form online only. there is no offline option for filling out the form. They should take the following steps when filling the form-

  • The candidate must go to the website and click on the link for the recruitment of Sub Inspector in RPF.
  • Candidates must read the instruction carefully.
  • Now fill the registration form with the correct information.
  • Candidates should not fill two different forms using different details. If caught, they will be disqualified.
  • After the successful registration, applicants will submit the forms. this generates a registration number and password. Candidates will also receive an OTP. Exam authorities send all this information by email or SMS.
  • With this registration number and password, candidates can fill their application form.
  • Candidates will submit the fees after completely filling up the application form. They can pay the fees online or offline mode.
  • For online submission of fees, candidates need to use net banking or debit or credit cards. UPI platforms may be available for fee submission.
  • For offline mode, candidates need to pay the fee using the SBI challan form.
  • The candidate needs to upload a scanned copy of a recent colored photo. They must keep at least 15 copies of this photo for further use.
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST category should upload a scanned copy of the SC/ST certificate to get the travel benefits.
  • After filling the form if candidates wish to make minor changes, they can get it done by paying Rs 250/-. This correction is non-refundable. Also, candidates cannot change state, phone number, or email id after registration.
