KVPY which stands for Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahah Yojana is an initiative by the Indian government to inspire students who are studying science subjects at various levels. This is a scholarship program for science students which is organized by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. This national program aims to identify prospective students, to motivate the students to take up science subjects as their course of study, and move on to pursue research in the field of science.
After selecting the students, the KVPY program continues to promote meritorious students by providing financial support in the form of fellowship and grooming. By this, the student can be well prepared to step into the world of scientific research. KVPY exam conducts by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru, only Indian students can appear for any of three streams that are applicable for a particular student.
The main objective of the KVPY exam is to find out the students who have the talent and potential to take up science subjects and carry forward their studies to build a career as a scientific researcher. To achieve this objective, the KVPY program provides handsome fellowship and contingency grants along with top-class grooming to the qualify students. KVPY program continues to support the students up to pre Ph.D. level or 5 years whichever comes early to the particular student. KVPY also organizes summer camps for the students in well-known educational institutions and excellent research institutions to ensure that the students can get the best possible guidance and motivation to improve themselves to achieve new heights in their lives.
KVPY examination conducts by IISc Bengaluru once every year. This exam conducts in online mode and aspiring students have to sit for a three-hour examination that carries 100 marks in total. This year the online exam will contain questions only in the English language. There will be no interview round this year; the merit list will publish based on the performances in the aptitude test. The students have to go to the exam venue which will assign to them and only from there the students can appear for the KVPY exam. The students who are Indian nationals and wish to continue their studies in India can apply for this exam and further assistance.
The official notification for KVPY is released already on July 12th,2021. Candidates can see a link on the website which activates for registration. Candidates can start to register themselves and follow the processes present over there. After successfully submitting the application form and make the payment, candidates must download the application form and payment invoice for future requirements. Candidates, who aspire to continue their studies with the grooming and fellowship from the KVPY program, must fulfill the eligibility criteria which are mentioned by KVPY. Candidates need to fulfill both educational and general criteria to register themselves for the KVPY selection process. The required criteria for the KVPY selection process are given below.
Three separate streams in the KVPY exam is SA Stream, SX Stream, and SB Stream. The eligibility criteria are different for every stream. Details of required eligibility are given below.
SA Stream: Candidates who have passed Class X and have taken admission for Class XI can apply under this stream. Candidates must be a student of science subject to apply for this stream. If the candidate passes the aptitude test then they should produce a supportive document of their studentship in class XI. The candidate will get the fellowship only if they take up basic science subjects in their under graduation studies.
Also, in the Board examination of Class XII, the candidate needs to score a minimum of 60% marks (50% for reserved candidates that are SC, ST, and PWD) in aggregate of mathematics and basic science subjects. After getting selected for the fellowship, the candidate will get access to attend Vijyoshi, which is the national science camp. All the expenses of traveling and accommodation will be sponsored by the KVPY. This eligibility criterion is only applicable in the 2021 cycle due to the pandemic.
SX Stream: Students who are currently studying basic science in Class XII and wish to continue their studies in basic science subjects can apply under this stream of KVPY. Selected candidates will get the fellowship after they take admission in the following courses in the academic year 2022-2023. Even after getting selected for the fellowship, there are chances that the student will not receive the scholarship. To activate the fellowship, the candidate must score a minimum of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
As per need eligibility criteria, students need to score the required marks in the second year of their study.

SB Stream: Students who have passed Class XII or the second year of Cambridge International Examination Board, and have taken admission in any of the undergraduate courses that are mentioned above, can apply for this stream. After getting selected for fellowship the candidate must produce the document of their enrollment in undergraduate courses. The candidates also need to score 60% marks (50% for reserved candidates) in aggregate in the first year of under graduation. The fellowship of the candidate will stand canceled if the candidate does not achieve the required score.
KVPY also has taken some policies as Empowerment Initiative, to help underprivileged students. Some additional fellowships belong to SC and ST students who are studying the courses that are mentioned above. There are also added fellowships for students who are differently able (physically and visually). The PWD category will be operated especially to support these students.
Only online applications will accept for the KVPY 2021 examination. Candidates should submit the application form and complete the payment within the present time. The application form will not submit without the successful completion of payment. Payment can complete only through online transactions. The process for KVPY online registration and application is divided into three steps.

All the documents should scan and upload. There will be separate links for uploading separate documents. Candidates must check whether the document successfully uploads or not. The application form will not submit until the system successfully uploads and accept documents.
The KVPY fellowship will activate after the candidate achieves the last limit of marks in Board examinations and enroll themselves in the undergraduate courses that were present above. There are some steps to unlock the fellowship after fulfilling all the criteria.
All the students will get monthly scholarships along with an annual contingency grant up to five years or till enrollment for Ph.D. whichever comes earlier. The amount of fellowship for every stream is the same. During under graduation (B.Sc. /B.S. / Int M.Sc. / M.S. / B.Stat / B. Math) the students will get the fellowship of Rs. 5000 per month and the contingency grant of Rs.20000 per year. During post-graduation (M.Sc. /M.S. / Int M.Sc. / M.S. / M.Stat / M. Math) the amount of fellowship will be Rs. 7000 per month and the amount of contingency grant will be Rs. 28000 per year.
