  • The aptitude test, initially scheduled for 07 January 2022, has been postponed to a later date.
  • Questions from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology will be included in the aptitude test, irrespective of the Stream SA, SB, or SX.
  • The aptitude test is the same for all the Streams SA, SB, and SX.
  • Candidates who clear the aptitude test will be further invited for an interview.
  • During the interview, the candidate’s scientific knowledge and research abilities will be assessed.
  • The final list of selected candidates will be announced after the completion of the interview round.
  • The interview round is scheduled to take place between the 3rd week of January and February 2022. Students will be notified of their interview date, time, and venue via email or the KVPY website. The candidate’s performance in both the aptitude test and interview will be considered for the award of the KVPY scholarship.

KVPY Aptitude Test

The KVPY Aptitude Test comprises two parts, namely Part I and Part II, each consisting of four sections. Candidates are permitted to attempt any three sections of Part I and any two sections of Part II. Therefore, candidates need to prepare their strong subjects efficiently according to the topics covered in the KVPY Syllabus. Here are some additional details about the test:

  • The Aptitude Test is conducted in a pen-paper format.
  • The Aptitude Test aims to shortlist candidates for Stage II.
  • Stage I is a common test for all applicants.
  • The KVPY Aptitude Test assesses candidates’ knowledge of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology through a set of questions.

KVPY Interview 2024

The KVPY selection process includes a second stage called the KVPY interview process, which aims to assess a candidate’s research knowledge. The interview focuses on the candidate’s scientific expertise, determining their eligibility and worthiness for the scholarship. The scholarship grant is based on the candidate’s overall performance in both the KVPY test and interview.

Below are the documents that are required to be presented on the day of the KVPY Interview Process:

  • KVPY Application Form: A copy of the filled online KVPY Application form. The filled KVPY Application Form can be downloaded from the official web link using the ID and password.
  • KVPY Admit Card: The original KVPY admit card along with a copy of the same.
  • Original Marks List: Candidates must bring all the original marks sheets of class 10 and class 12 along with their photocopies for eligibility verification purposes.
  • Caste Certificate: The original and valid cast certificate must be produced. The OBC certificate must not be older than 6 months.
  • Medical Certificate: Candidates indicating physical or visual fitness issues must obtain a certificate indicating the degree of disturbance.
  • Self-Appraisal Form: Candidates must write down the good qualities that must be considered to award them with the scholarship.
  • Study Center Form: A form obtained from the last school indicating the completion of schooling, signed by the head of the school/Principal.

It also reduces the pressure of preparing for the 12th board or JEE/NEET. Qualifying for KVPY indicates that you are already qualified to study in Indian higher education institutions.

The KVPY exam is challenging, even more so than JEE Main. Achieving the status of a KVPY fellow (scholar) demonstrates a high level of talent and hard work. Additionally, KVPY scholars enjoy free entry to all national libraries in the country and can attend all science camps.

Regardless of whether you are selected for the KVPY fellowship or not, qualifying and appearing for interviews at a young age will prove beneficial in the future.

As a science enthusiast, clearing KVPY (SA) with a good rank in class 11th will provide an opportunity to gain admission to India’s premier institute, IISc. If you miss the KVPY exam in class 11th or want to improve your rank, you can attempt KVPY (SX) in class 12th and reapply for KVPY (SB) in the first year of your basic studies if necessary.
