About ICMR Recruitment

ICMR is short for the Indian Council of Medical Research. It is the apex body in India which conducts the ICMR Recruitment. It has various functions. For instance, they are:

Firstly, the formulation of biomedical research.

Secondly, the coordination of biomedical research.

Thirdly, the promotion of biomedical research.

IMCR is one of the oldest as well as largest medical research institutions in the world. The Government of India oversees its funding. They do this through the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health as well as Family Welfare. Also, the ICMR established the Clinical Trials Registry, India.

All in all, ICMR has 26 national institutes. Moreover, they address the research on specific health topics. For instance, they are tuberculosis, leprosy, cholera, and diarrhoeal diseases. Also, it researches viral diseases. Further, they research AIDS, malaria, kala-azar, vector control, nutrition, food & drug toxicology, reproduction, immuno-hematology, oncology, medical statistics, etc.

Table of Contents

Moreover, it has 6 regional medical research centers. They address themselves regional health problems. Also, they aim to either strengthen or generate research capabilities in different areas of the country.

Firstly, the Government of India found the Indian Research Fund Association or the IRFA. It had the specific objective of sponsoring medical research in the country. In addition, it also coordinated the research. After independence, the organization went through several important changes. Thus, the activities of the IRFA changed. Then, the Government redesignated it as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in 1949. So, it considerably expanded the ICMR’s scope of functions.

In all honesty, the pattern of the ICMR recruitment is very simple. The Board tests the candidates’ knowledge of a variety of subjects. All in all, the candidates will have to pass the screening test. In addition to that, they also have to pass the interview.

The screening test requires the candidates to pass through specified eligibility. Also, the candidates should apply on the official website. The board needs the candidate to submit their application by a stipulated time.

Firstly, the candidates need to pass the eligibility test and the interview. Then, the Council shall upload the list of the final candidates on the official website. Hundreds of candidates look forward to this event. Thus, the ICMR Recruitment is one of the most sought-after examinations in the state.
