About IBPS & IBPS SO Exam

IBPS conducts recruitment examinations through a standard recruitment program (CRP) for all Public Sector Banks. IBPS completes the recruitment process for Specialist Officer for Law, HR, IT, Management, Marketing, and Agricultural Field Officer.

IBPS Specialist Officer comprises three stages of recruitment.

Preliminary Exam

Candidates need to qualify in the preliminary exam to reach the next level of selection.

Main Exam

After passing the preliminary exam, the candidate will be eligible to take the main exam.


Candidates who succeed in the main exam will be called for an interview.

Candidates who successfully clear the interview will be recruited as Specialist Officers in participating banks.

A candidate has to meet the age and education qualification criteria to apply for IBPS SO.

Nationality / Citizenship of Applicants:

A candidate must be an Indian citizen to apply for IBPS SO Examination.

Educational Qualification (As of 23.11.2020):

The candidate should hold a graduation degree in any discipline from an approved University.

Age (As of 01.11.2020):

  • Minimum: 20 years

How to Apply for IBPS SO?

The application form is available at ibps. in. The steps to fill the application form are explained below. The application can be filled only by online method.

Step 1: IBPS SO Registration

  • Visit the official website 
  • Click the link ‘New Registration’ on the home page of IBPS
  • Enter name, phone number, email id, and security code
  • a provisional registration number and password are generated after a successful registration
  • The provisional registration number and password are also sent to the registered email ID and password

Step 2: Upload Photo and Signature

  • Post-registration, candidates need to upload the photograph, signature, left thumb impression, and handwritten declaration.
  • Signature in capital letters will not be accepted.
  • The left thumb impression should be properly visible.
  • The handwritten declaration should be in English only.

Step 3: Fill the detailed application form

In this part, candidates need to fill in the category, nationality, personal information, select exam centers, date of birth, gender, father’s name or mother’s name, address, etc.

Step 4: Preview of IBPS SO application form
