IBPS Specialist Officer Exam Pattern 

IBPS SO Officer 2020 Exam pattern is divided into three parts, prelims, mains, and interview. Therefore, the exam pattern is different for different stages of selection.

Candidates who qualify for the prelims exam are called for the mains exam. Then, based on their mains exam’s score are called for an interview. The final selection of candidates is made based on their performance in the mains exam and interview.

IBPS SO exam pattern provides details regarding the overall structure of the exam, such as marking scheme, total marks, number of sections, and time duration.

Before beginning with the preparation for IBPS SO exam, it is advised that candidates must go through the exam pattern thoroughly to understand how they should utilize their time and secure a good ranking. IBPS sets the exam pattern for Specialist Officer Exam.

IBPS SO Exam Pattern 

Preliminary Examination

Post – Law Officer and Rajbhasha Adhikari 

The time duration for each exam is 40 minutes.

  • English Language: In English, a test of 50 questions and the maximum marks for the same is 25 marks.
  • Reasoning Ability: It contains an examination of 50 questions, and the maximum marks for the same are 50 marks.
  • General Awareness with Special Reference to Banking Industry: It also includes the same marking as Reasoning.

Post – IT Officer, HR/Personnel Officer, Agriculture Field Officer, and Marketing Officer 

The time duration for each exam is 40 minutes.

  • English Language: In English, a test of 50 questions and the maximum marks for the same is 25 marks.
  • Reasoning: It contains an examination of 50 questions, and the maximum marks for the same are 50 marks.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: It also includes the same marking as Reasoning.

Main Examination

Post – Law, IT, HR/Personnel Officer, Agriculture Field & Marketing Officer 

The time duration for each exam is 45 minutes.

  • Professional Knowledge – It contains only a paper of 60 questions, and the maximum marks are also the same.

Post – Rajbhasha Adhikari 

The time duration for each exam is 30 minutes.

  • Professional Knowledge (Objective) – It contains only a paper of 45 questions, and the maximum mark is 60.
  • Professional Knowledge (Descriptive) – It has only a paper of 2 questions, which is description-based.

In the Objective Tests, there will be a penalty for incorrect responses. If a question is left unanswered, it is referred to as a blank question.

A preliminary exam is a qualification exam. Candidates who qualify for prelims will be called for the main exam. On the basis of cut-off marks, candidates will be called for an interview. For final selection, weightage will be given to the main exam and interview.
