NIACL AO Application Form 2023

How To Apply for NIACL AO?

Applying for NIACL-AO is the initial step in the entire journey. Most importantly, the key is not to miss out on any requirements asked during the form fill-up process. The entire application process can be broadly divided into three steps :

  1. Application Registration
  2. Payment of Fees
  3. Scanning and Uploading

Application Registration

  • Open the official website of NIACL, Then click on the “Apply Online” option.
  • Next, choose the tab “Click here for New Registration” and fill in the details of your Name, Contact details, and Email-id.
  • After the final check of the details is done, proceed to save your application by clicking the “Validate your details” and then on the “Save & Next buttons.”
  • After Validation, candidates can scan and upload all the specified documents, i.e., Passport photograph, Signature, left thumb impression, and a handwritten declaration.
  • Now, click on the Preview Tab and check the completed application form.
  • Subsequently, candidates verify the details supplied, as no changes are entertained after clicking the “Final Submit.”
  • After “Final Submit,” click on the “Payment” tab.
  • Finally, any online method can be used to complete the transaction. (Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, Mobile Wallets)

NIACL AO Application Fees

The timeline for completing the application is generally around two weeks, post which there is no late fee window. Below are the fee details.

All candidates other than SC / ST / PwBDRs. 750 (Application fee including intimation charges)
  • The application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.
  • The transaction charge, if applicable, is to be borne by the candidate.

NIACL AO Eligibility Criteria

To be an eligible candidate for the NIACL AO examination, the candidate has to match certain criteria. Here are the details of the conditions laid down by NIACL.


The candidate applying for recruitment in the Company must be either-

(a) a citizen of India, (b) a subject of Nepal, (c) a subject of Bhutan, or (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or (e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d), and (e) shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India

Educational Qualification

A candidate must possess the minimum qualification of a graduate/postgraduate in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government with at least 60% marks in either of the degree examination for General candidates and at least 55% marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates. Candidate should possess a certificate as proof of passing the qualifying examination.

Those who are in the Final Year/ Semester of their Graduation may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if called for an interview, they will have to produce proof of having passed the qualifying examination.

Important Points to consider:

  • Educational qualifications should be from a University/ Institution/ Board recognized by Govt. Of India/ approved by Govt. Regulatory Bodies and the result should have been declared.
  • Proper document from the Board / University for having declared the result has to be submitted at the time of the interview.
  • The candidate must possess a valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate of the necessary qualification
  • The percentage marks shall be arrived at by dividing the total marks obtained by the candidate in all the subjects in all semester(s)/year(s) by aggregate maximum marks in all the subjects irrespective of honors
    / optional/additional optional subject if any. This will apply to universities where Class / Grade is decided based on Honours marks only. The fraction of percentage so arrived will be ignored i.e., 59.99% will be treated as less than 60%.
  • Where CGPA / OGPA is awarded, the candidate will have to produce a certificate issued by the appropriate authority inter alia stating the norms of the University regarding the conversion of grades into percentages and the percentage of marks scored by the candidate in terms of norms.

Age Limit

The minimum age set by the NIACL to appear for Assistant Officer on the exam is 21 years, and the maximum age is 30 years. However, a few relaxations have also been granted to candidates under reserved categories concerning the Upper Age Limit:

The pay scale at New India Assurance Co. Ltd. is very respectable and covers all significant employee benefits. The Basic NIACL AO Salary is Rs. 32,795/- On the scale of Rs. 32795-1610(14)-55335-1745(4)- 62315, whereas other admissible allowances as applicable. Overall emoluments will be approximately Rs.60,000/- p.m. in Metropolitan Centers. Apart from that, other benefits include coverage under the National Pension System governed by PFRDA, Gratuity, LTS, Medical Benefits, Group Personal Accident Insurance, etc., which shall be as per the rules. Officers are also entitled to Company’s / leased accommodation as per norms.

NIACL AO Syllabus

NIACL AO examination syllabus tests speed, accuracy, thinking ability, problem-solving skills, and general awareness. The subjects included in the exam are Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, General Awareness, and Subject Matter Expertise.

English Language

This segment is essential for the Prelims and Mains. Moreover, Prelims comprise just objective questions, while Mains comprises objectives and descriptive questions. Questions are based on topics such as Reading Comprehension, Active and Passive Voice, Articles, Tenses, Subject-Verb Agreement, Reading Comprehension, Error-Spotting, Sentence Correction, Para Jumbles, Error Spotting, and so forth.  

Quantitative Aptitude

Some important topics from this segment are Average, Percentage, Speed, Time and Distance, Simplification and Approximation, Time and Work, Percentage and Probability, Partnership, Mensuration and Geometry, Trigonometry, Profit and Loss, Simple and Compound Interest, and so forth.  

General Awareness

This section contains general information, current undertakings (both public and global), and general ideas identified with finance, promotion, and banking.

Aspirants can read magazines, diaries, and papers identified with money and news and follow TV and online media for the most recent information. Therefore, construct your general information by perusing essential books and materials. 

Reasoning Ability

Also, some significant subjects of this part are Coding-Decoding, Syllogisms, Direction and Distance, Numeric/Alpha-numeric series, Data Sufficiency, Puzzles, and Seating Arrangement. Time and Speed are significant for this segment.

NIACL AO Exam Pattern 2023

To finally work with NIACL, candidates are tested via online examination and interview. The entire examination process of the NIACL AO happens in three phases –

  1. Preliminary
  2. Mains
  3. Personal Interview

Phase I: NIACL AO Prelims

The preliminary exam is an objective-based online test consisting of three subjects, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. The entire test duration is 60 mins, where each section is allotted a specific 20 mins. The maximum mark for the whole exam is 100, split up into 35 for both Quantitative and Reasoning and 30 for English.

Candidates must ensure passing marks in each section to proceed to the Mains. For the Mains exam, approximately 15 times the number of vacancies are shortlisted from Prelims out of each category as decided by the Company.

Phase II: NIACL Mains

Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 30 marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online. Candidates will have to answer the Descriptive Test by typing on the computer. Immediately after completion of the Objective Test, the Descriptive Test will be administered.

Descriptive Test:

The Descriptive Test is 30 minutes long, and the entire test will be a Test of the English Language, bifurcated into Letter Writing-10 marks & Essay Writing -20 marks.


Apart from that, descriptive answer scripts will only be evaluated for those candidates who qualify for the Objective Tests.

Phase III: Personal Interview

Candidates who qualify for the Mains Exam will be further shortlisted and subsequently called for an Interview. Interviews for final selection will be conducted at select centers finalized by NIACL. The interview score carries a weightage of 20% in the overall score rest, 80% is from the Mains Exam.

NIACL AO Admit Card

Download the admit card for Phase-I and Phase II; it will be done separately. Candidates will also be updated through SMS on their registered Mobile Number and through e-mail on their registered email id with NIACL. Once the candidate lands on the above link, they will download the soft copy version of the admit card by accessing the official website. The following details should be with the candidate while downloading the admit card:

  • Registration Number/Roll Number
  • Password/Date Of Birth

For a candidate appearing NIACL AO exam, the following three combined documents will be required while entering the exam center:

  1. Printed admit card with a passport photo attached
  2. Original Photo Identity Proof.
  3. Photocopy of the Original Photo Identity


NIACL has not issued any official notification related to the NIACL AO Results. However, once released, candidates can check their results by following the given steps on the official website of NIACL.

  • Now, select the List of Roll Numbers of Provisionally Shortlisted Candidates for Phase I.
  • Then enter your login details, login ID, and password.
