The information regarding specialist officers or SO exams are released by the bank only.  Bank of Baroda or BoB provides the details through the official website.  It is conducted every year by the IBPS. The recruitment of the specialist officer takes place in the Middle Management Grade/Scale-III and the Middle Management Grade Scale-II. The conducting agency is the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection or IBPS. It is a government-owned recruitment agency for the bank personnel. It comes under the authority of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. The aim behind the establishment of the IBPS is to uplift the placement and the job opportunities of the various undergraduates, postgraduates, and Ph.D. holders in the banking sector. The IBPS is responsible for conducting the examinations, the assessment, and the result processing.

IBPS

 IBPS came into existence after independence in 1975. The reason was to recruit the personnel to expand the banking sector after the nationalization of the banks. The head office of the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection is in Maharashtra, India. The current chairman is Mr. RajKiran Rai G, and the director is Shri Hareedish Kumar B. 

As a Specialist Officer, there is no specific task. The officers need to work in the field of their specialization in the banks. For instance, if someone is good in IT they will be the IT specialist officer and is responsible for looking into the technical aspect of the daily banking operations, whether it’s software or hardware. So there are different posts for the various specialized officers. Bank of Baroda is one of the leading public banks with headquarters in Vadodara, Gujrat, and a corporate office in Mumbai.

This bank came into existence in the year 1908, since then it is providing the service in the Banking and Finance sector. The post of BOB SO is a highly respectable position. Bank Of Baroda SO Exam Notification/News 

The Bank of Baroda conducts the SO exam every year. It takes place to recruit for the specialist positions in India. The notification for the exam releases every year. It releases on the official website according to availability. Last year, the details of the exams came out in November 2020. The news of the application of  Specialist Officer in security and the Fire department was made available on December 18, 2020. 

The exam for the Fire officers took place on 07.03.2021 (Sunday). Also, the result of the same was announced on 19th June 2021 and is available on the Bank of Baroda’s official website. Candidates can check their results from there. Also, the notification for the security officers’ screening process is available. Bank Of Baroda SO Exam Date

The necessary details for candidates are available under the sub-head- “current opportunities” of careers on the official site. It gives the details regarding SO exam dates, SO vacancies, centers for the exam, Fees, application procedure, Eligibility, SO syllabus, and all the general guidelines.

For 2021, the notification came out in 2020. The application process for the online examination was till  19th January 2021. According to it, the exam took place on 07.03.21.  The screening process is done for both fire officers and security officers. However, there is no notification on the portal regarding the SO exam for the other departments.

Bank Of Baroda SO Exam Application Fees

Candidates who are willing to take the Bank of Baroda SO exam can make the fee payment by online mode only. There is no option for offline submission of the application fees. To submit fees online, candidates can make the payment by credit/debit (Visa/ Mastercard/Mastro or Rupay card), IMPS, Cash Card, Monet wallet. The internet banking facility is also available for the candidates.

There is no relaxation for the women. They have to submit the fees according to their respective categories. 

 

Eligibility Criteria

To appear for the Bank Of Baroda SO exam, one had to pass the criteria set by the IBPS. Two standards are needed to fulfill,  Qualification and Experience. The lists have been mentioned below.

LEGAL MMG/S-II Bachelor degree in Law

 

At least experience of 3 years as a law officer in Legal Department of Scheduled Commercial Bank, central/state government or  PSU, Practicing at a bar or judicial service

 

Legal MMG/S-III Bachelor Degree in Law

 

Min 5-years experience as law officer in Legal Department of Scheduled Commercial Bank, central/state government or  PSU, Practicing at a bar or judicial services

 

Operations JMG/S-I-Wealth Management Service- 2 years degree in MBA or post-graduation degree or diploma with specialization in Sales/finance 5 years of experience in the Sales/ Distribution of Wealth/NBFCs/Mutual funds and Insurance
Sales MMG/S-II-Wealth Management Services 2 years degree in MBA or post-graduation degree or diploma with specialization in Sales/finance

Or

Graduated with one-year diploma/certification in banking/ finance before joining any private or public bank.

 

4 years of experience in the Sales/ Distribution of Wealth/NBFCs/Mutual funds and Insurance
Sales JMG/S-I-Wealth Management Services Graduation in any stream 2 years experience in Sales/    Distribution of Wealth/NBFCs/Mutual funds and Insurance

AGE CRITERIA

The minimum age is 25 years. The maximum is 35 years. It can be different as per the post requirement. The age mentioned above is for the General category, for the reserved category there has been some relaxation which is mentioned below:

The BOB SO exam takes place every year to fill the vacancies in prominent departments of the bank. In the year 2021, there is a total of 913 vacancies that need to fill. In these 913 posts, there are vacancies in legal MMG/S-III, MMG/S-II, in wealth management service saleMMG/S-II, in wealth management service- sale MMG/S-III, in Wealth management service- operations MMG/S-I and Wealth Management service- operations  JMG/S-1. However, the exact total number of vacancies is not released yet. These seats are according to the previous years’ statistics.

Salary

The SO are paid a handsome salary with good incentives. The list below has the details of the remunerations paid.

Medium Management Grade/Scale-II Approx. Rs 84,000/per month

The allowances and perks are provident funds, pensions, medical facilities, pass and privilege ticked orders, educational assistance, and gratuity. The salary for the MMG/S-II is 84000/- while for the MMG/S-I is 1,00,000/- per month.

 

Bank Of Baroda SO Exam Syllabus

The syllabus of the SO exam has six parts. The exam comprises General awareness, English language, reasoning subject, Numerical ability, and Computer Knowledge.

 

PAPER SYLLABUS
English Language English is split into grammar and writing sections.
Reasoning Subject The reasoning section includes the brain exercise questions like coding-decoding, vein diagram. 
Numerical Ability The basic maths is covered.
Computer Knowledge It includes the question related to MS Office, Internet, Data usage, etc.
General Awareness Current affairs and the stated facts-related questions are asked.

 

The detailed syllabus of the exam is specified by the concerned authorities before the exam in the detailed exam notification.

 

Exam Pattern

The BOB SO is conducted in 3 phases.

Firstly the online test. This exam is consists of 200 questions. There are 4 sections in the exam. These are Logical Reasoning, the English language, Quantitative aptitude, and Professional Knowledge. Each section is consists of 50 marks each. All the exams are required to be completed in 2 hrs.

Secondly- The Group Discussion

After the online test, there is the GD round. All the candidates who cleared the online test are called to appear for the GD round. Candidates who fail to clear the online test are disqualified for the GD also. The qualifying marks are 60% for the general category while 55% for the reserved category. Those who clear the GD  with these marks go further for the final selection.

 

Exam Admit Card

After registering for the Bank of Baroda SO  examination, candidates are required to download the admit card from the official website. There is no post facility available for the admit card, everyone is required to download it. The card is mandatory to sit in the examination. It contains your details like name of the examination, date, name of the candidates, roll no, father’s name, mother’s name, exam center, venue of the exam, timetable, and the general details for the candidate. The IBPS will release the admit card a few weeks before the date of commencement of the exam.

To download the admit card, candidates have to mention their registration on the portal. It is important to download the admit card otherwise the candidate will not be allowed to appear for the exam.

How to Download the Admit Card?

  1. Go to the website of the bank of Baroda and log in 
  2. The link for download is easily available there. Click on the link. 
  3. You will be redirected to the page where you are required to fill in the registration number, date of birth, username, password, etc.
  4. Click on submit button and the admit card will be available on the website only.
  5.  Download the admit card from there

If you forgot your registration or the roll number, click on the Forgot ID, then fill in the questions. You will be redirected to a page where you can see your registration id. After that, follow the normal process to access your admit card for the UPSC exam.

 

Exam Result

The SO examination results are announced by the bank of Baroda only. They are declared online. Results are not announced in any newspaper or any other job portals. The result is announced for the online test and the Group Discussion/Interview. To see the result

  1. Candidates need to go to the official website of the Bank of Baroda
  2. Fill in all the credentials.
  3. The result link will be visible, click on it
  4. Fill in all the details asked for on the portal
  5. Sumit and the result will be visible on the screen.
  6. To print out, click on the print option and candidates can keep it for future reference.

The result for the SO fire officers and the security officers in 2021 were declared 18 June 2021. The IDs of the qualified candidates and the waitlist candidates are attached in the pdf of the result which is posted later.

How to Apply?

To fill the application form for the SO exam, candidates have to be very careful. The slightest mistake can lead to the rejection of the form. Again, candidates can apply for the application form from the official website. There is one form for each candidate. 

The application forms for the online test and interview are different. Below is the process of application.

To fill the application form

  1. Visit the official website to register for the exam.
  2. Register with your phone number or the mail-ID. After the registration, a provisional registration number will be generated along with the password.
  3. Now fill in the required details with the registration number and the password. 
  4. Now upload all the documents such as photographs, signature in the required format, and the size.
  5. Go through all the details again. Candidates won’t be able to make any changes after submission. Therefore they should check all the details before final submission. 
  6. Click on the continue option, then click on the submit option.
  7. Now, pay the fees for the examination. The details regarding the fees are mentioned above.
  8. Enter the details regarding the fees and the preferred center for the exam. However, the location can be changed as per the number of seats at the center.
  9. The form will be submitted and it is advisable to take the printout of the generated e-receipt and the online application form and keep it safe for future

For the bank of Baroda SO exam, the reserved categories are SC/ST, OBC, riot-affected people, ex-servicemen, and physically disabled. There are relaxation in fees and the age limit for them. But there is no mention of reservation in the vacancies.

A. This exam has two phases. The first stage is of online exam. The second stage is group discussion and interview. Candidates should clear the first stage of the online exam. After that, they are called for the GD round. General Candidate is required to score 60%. Only after that, the document verification is done and selection is completed.

A. Yes, there is a training period for all new hires. There is also a probation period of 1 year. Bank pays the recruits during the probation period. During the training period, candidates are taught the rules and regulations of the department. The behavior, manners, and work ethics of candidates are observed during this period.
