Tamil Nadu Teachers Eligibility Test (TNTET) is the state-level exam for recruiting teachers in Tamil Nadu. The exam for TNTET is conducted by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB). The candidate who clears the exam shall be eligible for the teacher post in Tami Nadu. The motive of this exam is to appoint skilled teachers at the elementary and primary levels in Tamil Nadu.

The TNTET exam is conducted once a year and the exam mode is offline mode. Therefore, candidates shall be given a center on which they must appear and give the exam. Candidates can register for the exam on the official website of TRB and check the result and hall ticket. The candidates who will clear the exam will be awarded a certificate valid for a lifetime.

The TNTET exam consists of two papers:

  1. Paper 1: for classes 1-5 (Primary Stage)
  2. Paper 2: for classes 6-12 (Elementary Stage)

Once the eligible candidate registers, he/ she will be allotted the admit card before the exam. A candidate must reach the center with the required documents. TNTET 2023 Application Form

The application procedure for the TNTET 2023 exam is not started. All aspirants willing to take this exam must follow the official website for regular updates related to the TNTET 2023 exam.

How to apply for TNTET 2023?

The Teachers Recruitment Board has not declared any official notification yet. Hence, the application window is not open yet for 2023. As soon as the application window opens, candidates need to follow the steps below. The registration can be done online mode only.

  1. First, candidates need to visit the official portal of the TNTET 2023 exam.
  2. The candidate must choose the exam category he wants to appear. A  candidate can appear for paper-1, paper-2, or both exams.
  3. After that, candidates need to enter the required details, which involve personal details, academic details, and other details.

Application Fee

After registering for the exam, the candidate must pay the fees as the last step. The applicants must follow each step for the registration, which involves the fees for appearing in the exam. The application fee varies as per the reservation. The details of the same are mentioned below:

  1. It must be noted that the fees, once paid, shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
  2.  The fees must be paid online mode only. There is no way of depositing gees offline.
  3. Candidates who want to be the applicant for both papers must pay the fees for both exams separately.

TNTET Eligibility Criteria

The aspirant must fulfill the eligibility criteria for appearing in the TNTET exam 2023. The Teachers Recruitment Board, Tamil Nadu, sets up certain eligibility standards. The candidate should go through the eligibility standards before applying for the exam. All the eligibility standards required for this exam are given below.

Age

To appear in the Tami Nadu Teachers eligibility Exam, the applicant’s age must not be under 18 years. There is no upper limit or maximum age to appear for the exam. Although, the aspirants should check the age limit mentioned by the Teachers Recruitment Board, Tamil Nadu.

Educational Qualification

Required educational qualifications for Paper – 1 and Paper – 2 exams are different. Here are the detailed education qualification required to be eligible to take the TNTET 2023 exam.

Paper- 1

  • All the aspirants must hold a diploma in Teacher Education from a recognized institution.
  • Candidates must have secured at least 50 % marks in Higher Secondary (or equivalent). Apart from that, a candidate must complete a 2-year Diploma course in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). Candidates in the final year of this 2-year diploma are eligible to apply.
  • Or, a candidate must be passed the Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45 % marks and can take this exam. Candidates in the final year of a two-year Diploma course in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) are eligible to apply.
  • Or, a candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent with at least 50 % marks and can take this exam. Candidates in the final year of a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) can take this exam.
  • Or, a candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent standard with at least 50 % marks and can take this exam. Aspirants who are appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma course in Education can take part in this exam.
  • Or candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree with at least 50 % marks and are appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma program in Elementary Education(D.El.Ed) are eligible to apply.
  • Or, candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree with at least 50 % marks and are appearing in the final year of a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) program can take this exam.

Paper-2

  • Candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree in the subjects such as Chemistry, Math, English, Geography, Physics, Botany, and History can take this exam. Apart from that, the candidate must hold a Diploma or B.ED in Elementary Education to be eligible for this test.
  • Or, a candidate who is in the final year of his/ her B.ED degree can take the TNTET examination in 2023.
  • Or, candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree with at least 50 % marks and are appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma program in Elementary Education(D.El.Ed) are eligible to apply.
  • Or, candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree with at least 50 % marks and are appearing in the final year of a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) program can take this exam.
  • Or, a candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent standard with at least 50 % marks and can take this exam. Aspirants who are appearing in the final year or passed a four-year B.A/ B.Sc. Ed/ B.A. Ed./B.Sc. Ed. program is eligible to take this test.
  • Or, candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree with at least 50 % marks and are appearing in the final year of a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) program can take this exam.

Nationality / Citizenship

A candidate who is an Indian citizen can take this exam.

TNTET Admit Card

TNTET 2023 Admit Card will be released around a week before the exam by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) of Tamil Nadu. TRB is the authority that conducts the exam and also the issuing authority for the admit card of TNTET 2023. All the eligible applicants who have completed the registration process can download the admit card from the official website of TRB, Tamil Nadu.

TNTET Exam Pattern 2023

The Tamil Nadu Teachers Eligibility Test consists of two papers. The aspirant can choose to appear for either one or both exams. The exam mode for the aspirants is offline-based (pen and paper-based). Each candidate will be allotted the OMR sheet on which they have to mark the answers. There will be multiple-choice questions in both papers. The aspirant must select the appropriate answer from the choices provided in the question paper. Paper-1 will have five sections, and Paper-2 will have four sections. The applicant must attempt all of the sections carefully.

Exam Pattern for Paper- 1

Paper- 1 is for the aspirants who want to teach from classes 1 to 5. The paper has 150 questions in total and the duration for completing the exam is three hours for Paper- 1. It has five different sections. The details of Paper- 1 are given below:

Exam Pattern for Paper- 2

Paper-2 differs from Paper-1 in subjects. It is for aspirants who want to teach classes 6 to 8. There are four sections in total. There is a choice of opting for the fourth section.  As the fourth subject, the candidates must choose between science, social, science, and mathematics. Candidates have to answer a total of 150 questions to answer and the duration will be 3 hours. The details of Paper- 2 are given below:

Tamil Nadu Teachers Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2023 Cutoffs

As per the norms set up by the authority, the candidate who has scored 60% or above marks in the exam is qualified. However, there is a relaxation of 5% for the candidates who are in the reserved category. Hence, the cut-off is 60% for the general candidates, while for the reserve candidates, it is 55%.
