OTET is a single common examination across Odisha to recruit candidates for the vacant posts of teaching up to class 8th in the state of Odisha. Also, the OTET examination is conducted by the BSE (Board of Secondary Education), which works as the functional body of education in the state of Gujarat. Apart from conducting the examination, BSE is also handling all the pre and post-examination processes, like the commencement of the exam date, application form, the declaration of the result, answer key, merit list, etc.

About the Governing Body and the Examination

In addition, candidates will be selected under the marks secured in the examination. The selected candidates will also get a job in government,  Government Aided, Private unaided, and Private aided schools of Odisha. However, qualifying for the OTET exam is just an eligibility criterion for teacher recruitment. Likewise, only marks scored by the candidate will decide the selection process. Once the maximum mark you secure, you will have a high chance of getting shortlisted. 

Candidates with certain qualifications can attend the examination, which we will see in detail below. The Odisha Teaching Eligibility test will have two papers.

  • Firstly Category A (Paper I)
  • Then, Category B (Paper-II)

Generally, Candidates should attend both papers to get qualified for the examination. And also, It is mandatory to get the OTET qualified certificate to become a teacher for 1 to 8 standards in all schools in Odisha. To work for a private school also need an OTET certificate. News and Notification

In the mid of August, the Directorate Of Secondary Education has come up with important news about the OTET Examination. DSE has also released the official notification of the application process on August 15. Likewise, It has planned to recruit Contractual Hindi, Sanskrit, and Physical Education Teachers.  

Once OTET aspirants can start applying for the examination from August 23, 2021. The last date for submitting the application form is September 14, 2021. Meanwhile, the recruitment team has not released the exact date of the examination, but it says that examinations will be held in the first week of October. So, the OTET candidates should keep their eyes on the official website to get the exam updates earlier. The recruitment team will announce the examination date one week after the examination then, the selected candidates will get official information about the next process.

OTET Exam Date

Recently, the DSE has released some important dates about the examination, which says that the examination will be conducted in the first week of October. The exam result also will be declared after the examination. Once the result is declared, selected candidates will get official news about the next process.  Now, DSE has come up with information about the application process.

For 2021 –

The authorities said that candidates can start applying for the examination from August 23, 2021, to September 14, 2021. The last date of application is September 14, 2021. As I already said, the actual OTET examination date has not been released yet.  We will notify you once it is released on the official site. Meanwhile, you also try to check out the official website often to get the information quickly.

In addition, the candidates are asked to apply for the examination on or before the last date. Because you will not get any extension after that.

OTET Application Fee

Generally, the OTET application fee varies from one category to another so, candidates should know their application concerning their category.  For General candidates, the application fee is 600 Rs, likewise for SC/ST/PWD candidates application fee is 400 Rs. The payment should be made through online mode because no offline mode of application is acceptable. Candidates should pay the fee on or before the last date.

Educational Qualification

  • The OTET candidates should have passed HSC Examination or any equivalent with Odia as a First, Second, or Third language subject.
  • Then, the OTET aspirant must have passed +2 Higher Secondary Examination or any equivalent with Odia as  First, Second, or Third subject.
  • Also, OTET Candidates should have passed the Odia Examination of Matriculation/HSC standard conducted by BSE, Odisha.
  • In addition, the candidate must have passed Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test in the concerned category and subject of the applicant.
  • Also, candidates should be Graduated with 50% in required Bachelor degree, or 4 years Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EL.ED), or 4-year B.A. Ed/ B.SC Ed./ B.SC / B.A./ Or, B.ED (special education).
  • Moreover, the OTET Candidates should have completed B.Ed

Nationality

The aspirants should be a citizen of India, and also they should know to read and write Odia. So, any Indian citizen with the above-mentioned educational qualification who knows to read and write Odia can apply for the examination.

Age limit

Generally, candidates from 21 age to 32 can apply for the examination. Candidates who are below 21, likewise candidates who are above 32 are not eligible to attend the examination. And also some of the candidates will have age relaxation depends on their category, which I have mentioned in the table below.

OTET Salary

Since there is no official announcement about the salary range, but aspirants can expect 30,000 to 50,000 INR per month with some allowances. Also, the salary range will vary from one position to another as per the grade scale.

Generally, the selected candidates will have the following benefits under their position

Generally, admit card will be posted for downloading one or two weeks before the examination. Since the examination date has yet to announce, admit card date will also get announced before or with the examination date. Likewise, candidates can download their admit cards by following the instructions below. Candidates should download their admit cards on or before the examination date so that they will be able to attend the examination. Because admit card will have the important details of the examination. So once the admit cards get released try to download them as soon as possible.

OTET Result

Generally, OTET can get their result one or two weeks after the examination. Once the examination gets finished candidates can check their results on the official website. Likewise, you need to get the qualified results in all the stages to get the job. So, concentrate on all the exams equally in order to qualify in the examination. Once the result dates are announced we will notify you. You can also check your results directly from the official website.

How to Apply for OTET?

Once the application form of OTET is released on the official website, eligible candidates can start filling it on or before the due date. Likewise, as per the official notification candidates can start applying from august 23, 2021. So, OTET candidates should check from 23, august to apply for the examination.

  • Open the official website
  • Then click directly on the application link, which will be shown as “Online Application for OTET 2021”.
  • Where you need to click “Click Here for New Registration”
  • Then you need to enter your details like name, password, email ID, and mobile number.
  • After that, you will be directed to the payment page, where you need to pay your respective examination fee.
  • You will also have options to pay the fees. You can make payment through an SBI debit card, SBI net banking. Likewise, you can make payments offline by taking DD from SBI Bank.
  • Once you have paid your application fee, you need to wait for nearly 12 hours to fill up the application form
  • After 12 hours, Fill in the required details correctly
  • You will have to fill up the following information, personal details, then education qualification, then eligibility criteria, address, and also you need to tick the declaration form.
  • Then, there will be a submit button at the end, click on that. Once you submitted your application you cannot make any changes so, check before submitting.

Ans. The Board of Secondary Education, also called BSE, is the conducting body for the OTET exam. It is the State-level entrance examination conducted to recruit candidates for teaching in Odisha.

  • The candidates who have successfully passed HSC Examination or any equivalent exam with Odia as a First, Second, or Third language subject.
  • The applicant must have passed 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination with a minimum of 50% marks or any equivalent exam with Odia as the First, Second, or the Third subject.
  • OTET aspirants must appear in the Odia Examination of Matriculation/HSC standard organized by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha.
  • The candidate must have passed OSSTET in the concerned category or subject of the applicant.
  • The candidate with a three-year bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% or 4-year degree in Bachelor in Elementary Education, BA in Education, BSc in Education, BSc, BA, or BEd in special education is eligible for the OTET exam.
  • Candidates who belong to the reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC/SEBC/PWD get a relaxation of 5%.

Ans. OTET stands for Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test. It is a State-level eligibility test for the candidates who wish to apply for the teacher recruitment drive in Odisha. The candidate who successfully clears the OTET exam gets an eligibility certificate from the Board of Secondary Education. They can apply for the teacher recruitment drive for Classes I-VIII in Government and private schools across Odisha.
