The NVS is an independent institution under the Ministry of Resource Development of the Government of India. It is in charge of recruiting teachers for JNVs around the country. NVS stands for Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, while JNV stands for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. NVS has released a recruitment notification for various posts along with the post of Post Graduate Teacher (PGT), Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT). Total number of vacancies is not confirmed yet.  Jobs are on a contractual basis. JNVs are needed in Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. List of all the posts revealed under latest notification is provided below:

The NVS selection process usually consists of a written test and an interview, but due to the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19), the written test has been cancelled. Candidates will be selected for the job based on their interview performance. This interview will be conducted virtually. Candidates will be hired based on their performance during the interview process.

NVS Recruitment Exam Notifications

The detailed notification has important information about the exam. For example, exam eligibility, reservation policy, and fee for the exam. In addition, total vacancies available, key dates in the exam process are given in it. Even, the region for which the selection process is done is also stated in the notification. Further, the NVS has posted the job notifications for 2021 on its official website, navodaya.gov.in. The online application process began on July 2, 2021. And, the last date for submission of application was 11th of July 2021.

The NVS has been in the news since the NVS recruitment body has decided to scrap the written test or CBT. It is done to follow the social distancing norms applied due to world-wide pandemic. The autonomous body posted an advt. in the starting of July. The recruitment board needs candidates for a various posts. For example, TGTs PGTs Creative Teachers, and FCSA. The Samiti is usually in the news because of a notification of a large number of vacancies or an announcement of the dates for various posts.

NVS Recruitment Exam Dates

Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has released NVS Recruitment 2022 notification for NVS Non-teaching posts on 12th January 2022. The online registration process has been started on 12th January & ends on 10th February 2022. Check all important dates from the below table.

For 2021- 

The selection process starts with the release of official notification. It is available on the official website of NVS. The deadline for application submission was 11th of July 2021. Admit card is usually released 15 to 20 days before the written exam.

Under normal situations the NVS conducts a written test or a computer based test (CBT). But due to outbreak of pandemic caused by coronavirus (COVID-19), the selection body decided to scrap the written test or CBT for this year. Therefore, this year selection will be purely based on the interview. Even, the interview will also be conducted virtually this year. Thus, the results of the selection process will solely depend upon how the candidate has performed in the virtual interview round.

NVS Recruitment Exam Application Fee

  • For PGT, TGT, Creative Teachers and Faculty Cum System Administrators (FCSA), the application fee is INR 1200 for aspirants.
  • But, candidates falling under SC/ST/PH category need not pay any application fee.
  • As there is no option for fee payment through offline mode. Therefore, aspirants have to pay the fee through the online system only.
  • Fee can be paid by Net Banking, Credit, or Debit cards.
  • In fact, applications received without the application fee will be rejected. No objections to such rejection will be accepted. The fee will not be repaid under any case. It will neither be applied to any other exam or selection.
  • All issues related to the reimbursement of excess payment, if any, are resolved by the NVS. Candidates are advised to ask for a refund of any excess payment only through the official site. No chargeback requests will be considered.

NVS Recruitment Exam Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

Candidates, who are citizens of India, are eligible for the selection process.

Age Limits

For NVS PGT positions, the upper age limit is 40 years, whereas for TGT positions, the maximum age limit is 35 years. Candidates are given certain leeway based on their categories. The following are the relaxations granted by the recruitment board to certain reserved groups:

  • SC and ST PwD candidates have a 15-year of extension (including women).
  • For OBC PwD candidates, the age limit is extended by 13 years (including women).
  • GEN PwD candidates will have 10 years of relaxations (including women).
  • An extension of 10 years is for women.
  •  The candidates of SC, ST categories and NVS employees have a 05 year relaxation given. Same applies to candidates who are residents of J&K (During 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989). Even, candidates with 03 years of continuous service in the central government in the same or related cadre post also gets 05 years of extension.
  • For Other Backward Classes, the age limit is pushed by 03 years (Non-Creamy layer)

Education Qualifications

To be eligible for the post of TGT, PGT, and FCSA, all candidates applying for the various NVS positions must meet their educational requirements. These jobs require different educational qualifications, which are listed in the table below:

PGT1) The aspirant must have a two-year integrated postgraduate degree in related topics with at least 50% of the marks from the college, NCERT, or any other colleges recognized by NCTE. 2) A B. Ed degree is not required for applicants who have completed a four-year integrated degree program from any NCTE-accredited college or a Master’s degree from a recognized college with at least 50% marks in the courses for which you are applying.
TGT1) Candidates must have completed a two-year integrated post-graduate program in the relevant topic from a college, NCERT, or other NCTE-recognized college with at least 50% aggregate marks. 2) Or a Bachelor’s Honors Degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% in the relevant courses. 3) Alternatively, a Bachelors Honors Degree from a government-recognized college with at least 50% grades in the relevant subjects.
FCSA1) A Diploma holder in Computer Application from a recognized institution or an “A” level certificate from DOEACC 2) A BCA from a recognized University / Institution or a B. Tech / B.E in Computer Science / in Information Technology or in Information Science from a recognized University is required. 3) Candidates with experience at a Govt. /Govt. Aided Residential School and who have passed the CBSE CTET will be given special consideration for selection.
CREATIVE TEACHERS1) A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is required. 2) To teach in both Hindi and English, you must be fluent in both languages. 3) Teaching experience in a residential school in a comparable position. 4) Computer Application Knowledge

Other Important Points

When applying for the NVS position, candidates must KEEO the following points in mind.

  • Candidates applying for TGT positions must have a CTET certificate.
  • Working experience in a residential school is a desirable qualification.
  • Knowledge of all computer applications is a desired qualification.
  • The NVS states that candidates with no prior experience are eligible for applying for the post of NVS. But, candidates with some experience in certain cases may have an upper hand.

NVS Recruitment Vacancies

Navodaya Vidyalayas are schools in India. The Samiti recruits people for various positions in JNV, Regional Offices, and Headquarter offices. In addition to a fixed salary, successful candidates will receive free boarding and lodging on campus, but only if and when the JNVs are established.

NVS Recruitment Exam Syllabus

The NVS Syllabus is according to the job specifications. The syllabus for TGT will be similar to that of the graduate program needed for the position. PGTs, on the other hand, must prepare the NVS syllabus for their post-graduate degree before applying. To illustrate, following are the subjects a candidate must prepare for the NVS exam:

  • Concerned Subjects (Like Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Math, Geography, Economics)
  • General awareness
  • General English
  • Logics & Reasoning.

NVS Recruitment Exam Pattern

The NVS selection process consist of 2 stages. First written test/ skill test/ CBT. Second and the last stage is personal interview. The performance of candidates in the written test or CBT is very important in the NVS selection process. It is followed by a Personal Interaction/ Interview. The result is on basis of the performance in both the parts of selection process. This does not, however, apply to all positions. Furthermore, the NVS sets the CBT and interview cut-off marks independently. Despite the fact that the NVS takes a written exam for PGT TGT and other posts, it has been scrapped for the NVS recruitment 2021 in Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal due tp pandemic.

  • One paper with 180 marks makes up the written test.
  • Multiple choice questions (MCQs) will be objective type in the exam.
  • 1st to 3rd part of the written exam/ CBT will be common for all PGTs, TGTs, and Misc. Teachers, but part 4 will be subjected specific.
  • The difficulty level of question papers for PGTs will be post-graduate standards. It will be of graduate level for TGTs and other Miscellaneous Teachers.
  • The exam is taken in both Hindi and English Language. TGTs and Misc. Category Teachers, on the other hand, will have their regional language paper written in the language chosen by the applicant.
  • The entire test time is 3 hours, or 180 minutes. There is no time limit for each part within the test.
  • There is no negative marking in this test.

NVS Recruitment Exam Admit Card

The applicants must download the NVS Teacher admit card for the written exam from the official website. To generate a Hall Ticket from the official website, you’ll need your registration number and password. The board gives no travel allowance (TA) or any other compensation for appearing in the written test or interview. Candidates can not enter the exam hall unless they have a valid Admit Card. The Admit Card printout is only valid if the candidate’s photo and signature are legibly present on it. The admit card has important information concerning the candidate. For example name, roll no. category, date and time of exam along with certain other details. Those willing to take the exam should check the NVS Exam Center, which is also present on their admit card.

The candidates can download the admission card from the official NVS website. Then, the candidates must check if the information provided in the admit card is free of errors. Furthermore, the authority is not liable if a candidate looses any emails as a result of the candidate providing an invalid or incorrect email address.

Result for NVS Recruitment Exam

The board provides NVS results and combined merit list on the official website by roll number. There will be no separate correspondence regarding the results. Furthermore, the authority will not accept any additional inquiries.

The list of candidates for personal interview, or skill test will only be available on the board’s website. The applicant’s name, roll number, category, date of birth, and other information is present in the result. On the result page, the application sequence number is also visible. Applicants who appear in this test must check the official website to stay up to date on information about the results announcement.

NVS Recruitment: How to Apply?

Candidates should go to www.navodaya.gov.in to apply for a specific vacancy. The candidates can not submit the application in any other way. To complete up the application form, make sure you have a valid personal email id. If you don’t have an email already, make a new one. Fill in all of the needed details, pay the application fee, submit the form, and print it out.
