1. Nationality/Citizenship

The candidate must meet the following nationality criteria to satisfy the SSC CHSL exam eligibility:

  • Should be a citizen of India
  • Be a subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee came to India before January 1st, 1962, intending to live permanently in India.
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Burma, Vietnam, or East African Countries, namely Uganda, Malawi, Kenya, United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Zanzibar and Tanganyika), Zaire, and Ethiopia, to permanently settle in India.

2.  SSC CHSL Age Limit

As per official website of SSC, the candidate must have the following chsl age limit criteria to appear for the exam:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be at most 27 years of age

3. Educational Qualification

The candidate must meet the following educational qualification criteria to satisfy the SSC CHSL eligibility to appear for the exam:

  • For LDC/JSA Posts – The candidate appearing must be a 12th Graduate (or equivalent)
  • For PA/SA Posts – The candidate appearing must be a 12th Graduate (or equivalent)
  • For DEO Posts – The candidate appearing must be a 12th Graduate (or equivalent)
  • For DEO in Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG) – The candidate appearing must be a 12th Graduate in the Science stream with Mathematics as the main subject (or equivalent)

4. Physical Disability

The candidate will be given the following concessions if they are physically disabled. The type of concession will vary among different posts. Check the list below for further information:

What is the SSC CHSL age limit?

Is physical fitness required for SSC CHSL?

There is no physical fitness test for the SSC CHSL exam. Physical fitness is not of inherent requirement (excluding the minimum height and weight requirements). However, a medical certificate authorized and signed by a government hospital is required during enlistment. Additionally, a skill test is also conducted based on the exam type. This doesn’t mean that one shouldn’t focus on one’s physical fitness, as things like body posture are an important part of any work, irrespective of the type.

Are tattoos allowed in SSC?

Yes, tattoos are allowed in SSC (Public Sector), i.e. A person with a tattoo cannot be declared unfit to work. But with certain limitations/restrictions. A list of the same is given below: Location – The location where tattoos are permitted is the inner forearm. It should be placed between the elbow and wrist or on the back side of the palm. Content – Tattoos should not be related to any vulgar or objectionable things. Under such circumstances, the Comdt GREF or DDG (Pers) will have the authority to reject the candidate’s application.
