Established in 1956 Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya sits in the Khairagarh town of Chhattisgarh State of India. It is a public university with differences that aims to impart higher education in music, dance, fine arts, and theatre. As a matter of fact, IKSV is a shrine for musicians. Further, the institution was the first musical University on the Asian Continent.

Besides that, IKSV is the first University of Chhattisgarh. The university focuses on the promotion and growth of Indian culture. Considering the importance of IKSV, the government showcased it as their State Tableau. It became the first and only university in India to represent the state at the Republic Day Parade. Apart from that, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) recognizes IKSV.

Courses Offered at Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya
Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh offers multiple courses in the field of music. Moreover, IKSV designed the syllabus of the course to encourage creativity among students. Besides that, the college has a division of five-section, namely, music, dance, visual arts, and arts. Further, IKSV offers two modes of examination, namely, Semester basis, and Choice Based Credit System (C.B.C.S). As a result, students can choose from a wide range of subjects.

Bachelor’s Course: At the undergraduate level, Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya offers 3 programs. To clarify, these courses are BPA (Music/Dance/Folk Music), BFA, and B. Voc. But, each student must give an aptitude cum entrance test to enroll for the Bachelor’s courses. Generally, the Entrance Test has Elementary questions related to the concerned subjects.
Master’s Courses: IKSV offers a total of 20 postgraduate courses. As a matter of fact, it is compulsory for the candidates to appear in the aptitude examination. Based on the performance of students, the administration releases an admission list. But, the candidate must satisfy the upper limit.
PhD./M.Phil Courses: Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya offers research programs under 2 categories. An aptitude test is compulsory for admission to research programs. However, there is an upper limit for certain courses.
