The first IIT in India was established in 1950 in Kharagpur West Bengal. The establishment leads to the forging path of establishing many more IITs which were deeply required to further the process of engineering and nation-building. Therefore the father architect behind IIT’s in India Sh. N.M Sircar leads to establishing a few more IITs after establishing IIT Kharagpur. Therefore in 1961 IITD was established at Hauz Khas. The Primary focus of IIITD was like any other IIT. Which was to educate and shape the unskilled labor into skilled and efficient labor and further turn them into skillful engineers. Thus from shaping labours to now shaping the nation IITD along with its counterparts has not only proven itself to India but also at the world stage. Therefore the institute was along with a handful of other universities awarded the tag of Institute of Emminence.
