Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IRAI) is often called Pusa Institute. It is because of the history of the Institute. In other words, the institute was earlier in Pusa Bihar and now in Pusa, Delhi. The institute from its formative days has developed and contributed to the development of the country by large. Moreover, the institute is now a premier learning center in the field of Agriculture it has now. It 20 divisions 5 multi-disciplinary Centres situated in Delhi, 8 regional stations, 2 off-season nurseries, 3 All India coordinated research projects with headquarters at IARI, and 10 national Centres functioning under the all-India coordinated research projects.

IARI is a catalyst and a bridge gaping the disabilities in the field of Agriculture. Therefore the institute’s mission is to revolutionize basic frontiers be it for quality or quantity of production or for infrastructure implementation in the fields. Furthermore, the institute finds its objectives to be a research-based driver in fostering and forming optimal methods of agriculture.
Furthermore, the university has many regional extension centers which are to serve as links between the institute and small village farmers. Additionally, the institute has a quite decorative list of notable alumni. To name a few Dr. M. S. Swaminathan (Padma Vibhushan), Dr. A. B. Joshi (Padma Shir), Dr. R. S. Paroda (Padma Bhushan) among others.
Campuses
The campus is located in Pusa Delhi, spreading over 1250 acres the campus houses not only the institute but also the Indian Agricultural Statistical institute which is a part of IARI. Moreover, the campus houses numerous facilities like spotting grounds, hostels, staff quarters, departmental, administrative, and academics blocks. The campus is located at Pusa New Delhi. Moreover, the campus is highly accessible as Pusa Delhi is adjacent to areas like Karol Bagh, Naraina, etc. Reaching the campus should not be a hassle as plenty of options are available both for regional locals and national students.
Courses and Programs
IARI offers courses in the Master (PG) and Doctoral (Ph.D.) levels only. The courses available at the master’s level are M.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering, M.Tech in Post food harvest technology, M.tech in Bioinformatics, M.Tech in Genetics, M.Tech in Water Science and Technology. Moreover, courses are available in M.Sc. and MCA. The M.Sc. program has 18 specializations on offer. Namely few are M.Sc in Biotechnology and M.Sc. in Horticulture. Furthermore, the Ph.D. degree has 26 specializations to choose from.
Placements
The institute has an active placement cell that takes care of placement activities. The placement invites companies to recruit students during the placement season. It furthermore, publishes brochures to inform visiting companies about students profile. In past, the students have secured placements in companies and organizations like Central Banks of India, Food Corporation of India, Indian Forest Service, Indian Economic Service, ITC, Mankind, and Growponics among many other companies.
