Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q.1 How is the merit list prepared for the exam?

A. AP SLPRB prepares the merit list according to the marks scored by the student. The more marks one gets, the higher their rank will be. If two students get similar grades, then their date of birth will be considered. The older student will get more preference.

Q.2 What are the qualifying marks for constable and sub-inspector posts?

A. General students need to secure 40%. OBC candidates need 35%. SC/ST students need to get 30% in the preliminary exam in both papers to qualify for mains. If students fail in one exam and pass in the other, then they will be disqualified for that turn.

The preliminary round will be of qualifying nature. AP SLPRB will only consider the mains’ marks and interviews’ marks. In 2020, the expected qualifying marks for the police exams were 140+ (out of 200) for the general category. It was 135+ for OBCs, 130+ for SCs and 125+ for STs.

Q.3 Is the Cut off the same every year?

A. No. It varies every year depending on the number of students applying, the number of vacancies available (including the backlog vacancies), and the exam paper difficulty. External conditions like COVID-19 may also have an effect.

Q.4 Where can I check the merit list?

A. One can check it on AP SLPRB’s official website: www.appolice.gov.in or http://slprb.ap.gov.in/.

Q.5 For how many times can I attempt this exam?

A. There is no specified number of attempts. However, there is an age limit. The minimum age limit to attempt any APSLPRB exams is 18 years. The maximum age limit is 30. (Varies by the exam)

Q.6 What are backlog vacancies?
