The Indian Council of Medical Research invites applicants to apply for various posts at the ICMR Recruitment. Every year, the ICMR provides the selected candidates with the job they applied for. Here, we have gathered the ICMR Recruitment Syllabus.
For this, candidates need to sit for a computer-based examination. Then, they follow this up with a physical test. Moreover, candidates should also prepare for an interview.
The computer-based examination is based on a variety of subjects. The ICMR has prepared specific questions to test the mental ability of the candidates. Thus, the syllabus includes subjects such as General knowledge, common statistics, along common scientific phenomena. The candidates should prepare for each of these subjects before appearing for the examination.
Further, the Council has divided each subject into different topics which the candidates will need to prepare. For instance, the candidates need to be well prepared when it comes to Common Statistics. It will involve questions aimed at testing the critical thinking power of the candidates. Also, the general knowledge questions test the knowledge of the candidate about nuclear science among other topics. It also intends to test the candidate on the knowledge of synthetic materials and measurements. Moreover, the Scientific Phenomenon aims to test the candidates on the knowledge about the natural occurrence. Thus, the Council will set the questions to test the knowledge of the candidates across all these spheres.

The ICMR JRF Recruitment process contains the computer-based exam. It does not have any Mains exam per se. However, one can consider the mains examination to consist of the Interview. The Council will conduct these exams once the candidates pass the initial application screening process.
Moreover, certain posts only require an application process. Any candidates who are interested in the ICMR examinations and also eligible can apply for it. The candidates can fill up the application form at the official website of the ICMR. The link will remain open until the 31 of July 2021. The link will be disabled after the given date.
The next step for such candidates will be the interview process.
The Council has organized specific criteria for different posts.
The candidate should study the ICMR exam pattern thoroughly. Because each section of the examination consists of different types of questions. And each section carries a separate set of marks. First of all, the ICMR Recruitment Exam tests the mental power of the candidates. Moreover, it also tests their physical abilities. Every year there happens to be hundreds of students who sit for the examination for very limited vacancies. For instance, the Council has estimated the total number of vacancies for this year at 150. Thus, the candidates need to be properly prepared for the ICMR Recruitment examination.
In fact, the candidates who sit for the exam belong to states from all over the country. Thus, this makes the examination more competitive. The posts of JRF as well as others are respectful positions within the Department. Hence, there lies strong competition to sit for this exam.
Firstly, aspirants should be well prepared before appearing for this exam. Because the syllabus for the exam covers a lot of subjects. In fact, the entire duration for the 150-mark paper is only 2 hours. Thus, they should practice the papers accordingly. Also, the ICMR interview is the final stage for the ICMR recruitment. Thus, candidates should try their hardest to appear more confident. They can do so in many ways. For instance. All in all, the syllabus deals with Life Sciences, Social Sciences, and an Aptitude test. Subjects under Life Sciences include various topics. For instance, they are microbiology, physiology, molecular biology, genetics, and human biology. Also, candidates have to prepare for biotechnology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, immunology, biophysics, and pharmacology. Moreover, other topics are nursing, zoology, environmental sciences, botany, and veterinary sciences.
On the other hand, Life Sciences has several topics. For instance, they are psychology, sociology, anthropology, social work, Home Sciences, and statistics. Lastly, the candidates will also be tested on Public health/Health economics.
All in all, the exam can be generally divided into three stages. The first stage is the application process. The second stage consists of the computer-based examination. And the final step consists of the interview of the selected candidates.
The ICMR provides a total of 150 questions to the candidates. Furthermore, candidates need to solve these questions within a span of 120 mins. However, candidates can attempt only 75 questions in Section B or C. Moreover, there is a negative marking for the wrong answer to the questions. The ICMR deducts the 0.25 mark.
Some of the posts in the ICMR require only the interview. In other words. They don’t require a written exam to qualify. Thus, the ICMR will include them in the final merit list.
The minimum qualifying marks for the ICMR Recruitment process is no lesser than 55% for General candidates. Whereas, the minimum qualification for SC/ST and PwBD candidates is 50%.
