ICMR Recruitment Mains Examination

The ICMR JRF Recruitment process contains the computer-based exam. It does not have any Mains exam per se. However, one can consider the mains examination to consist of the Interview. The Council will conduct these exams once the candidates pass the initial application screening process.

Moreover, certain posts only require an application process. Any candidates who are interested in the ICMR examinations and also eligible can apply for it. The candidates can fill up the application form at the official website of the ICMR. The link will remain open until the 31 of July 2021. The link will be disabled after the given date.

The next step for such candidates will be the interview process.

The Council has organized specific criteria for different posts.

1. The ICMR Consultant candidates should have an MBBS with 3 years of experience. Moreover, they may have BAMS or BDS with 3 years of experience. However, candidates may have either of the two requirements.
2. The ICMR Project Assistant candidates need to be a Bio-informatics graduates with 3 years of experience. Moreover, they may have a post-graduation degree in Bio-informatics.
3. Scientist II (non-medical) candidates need to have PhDs in certain fields. For instance, the fields are Sciences/Biomedical Sciences/Molecular, Biology/Bioinformatics, etc. T However, they may also need to have 2 years of experience after a Ph.D.
4. Project Field Worker needs to have a graduation degree in certain fields. For instance, they are Nutrition, Sociology, etc. Moreover, they should also have knowledge of local languages.

ICMR Exam Pattern

The candidate should study the ICMR exam pattern thoroughly. Because each section of the examination consists of different types of questions. And each section carries a separate set of marks. We have provided the following information about the exam pattern. Thus, this will make it easy for the candidates to understand the pattern.

• There will only be a single paper that will carry 150 marks
• The questions will be objective type questions in the form of multiple-choice questions
• The paper will consist of 80 marks. Moreover, each question will carry around 0.80 marks
• The Council will provide candidates with 120 minutes or 2 hours to complete the entire examination
• However, there is negative marking in ICMR JRF exams. It will deduct a 0.25 mark for a wrong answer.
• The level of difficulty in the questions is given at the Graduation or higher secondary level
• The candidate can attempt the exam in only the English language
• The question will be a mix of two papers. For instance, they are Section A and Section B or C.
• Section A has 50 marks. It is a non-optional paper.
• Whereas, Section B or C has 100 marks.
• Moreover, Section B is for Life Sciences candidates. Whereas, Section C is for Social Sciences candidates.
• Lastly, the candidates can attempt only 75 questions in the second section.

All in all, the syllabus deals with Life Sciences, Social Sciences, and an Aptitude test. Subjects under Life Sciences include various topics.
