IBPS RRB PO Exam Pattern 

The preliminary exams, mains exams, and interviews are part of the IBPS RRB PO exam pattern. The exam pattern varies depending on the stage of selection—first, candidates who pass the prelims exam advance to the mains exam. Then, based on their performance on the mains exam, candidates are invited for an interview.

Candidates are chosen based on their score in the mains exam and interview. The IBPS RRB PO exam pattern details the overall structure of the exam, including the marking scheme, total marks, number of sections, and time duration.

Before beginning preparation for the IBPS RRB PO exam, candidates should thoroughly review the exam pattern to understand how they should allocate their time to achieve a high ranking.

Preliminary Examination (Objective) 

The time duration for each exam is 40 minutes.

  • Quantitative Aptitude – In this, a test of 40 questions and the maximum marks for the same is 45 marks.
  • Reasoning Ability – It contains an examination of 40 questions, and the maximum marks for the same are 40 marks.

Candidates must qualify for each of the two tests by achieving the minimum cut-off marks set by IBPS. Then, as determined by IBPS based on the requirements, many selected candidates in each category will qualify for the Online mains examination.

Mains Exam Pattern 

  • In IBPS RRB PO mains exam has 200 multiple-choice questions. 
  • The candidate needs to qualify in each section of the exam as per the minimum cut-off list. 

The total maximum mark for the exam is 200. And the total time duration is 2 hours or 120 minutes.

  • English Language/Hindi Language: In this test, the total number of questions is 40, and the maximum marks for the same are 40 marks.
  • Reasoning: It contains an examination of 40 questions, and the maximum marks are 50 marks.
  • Computer Knowledge: In this paper, the total number of questions is 40, and the marks are 20.
  • General Awareness: In this paper, the total number of questions is 40, and the marks are the same as 40.
  • Numerical Ability: In this paper, the total number of questions is 40, and the marks are the same as 50.

Candidates can choose either Hindi or English language.

For incorrectly marked Objective Test answers, there will be a penalty. However, there will be no penalty if a question is left blank, i.e., if the candidate does not mark an answer.
