English Sense:

This section tests the candidate’s ability to comprehend English. The topics covered in this section include grammar and glossary. Sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms. Grasp, and writing ability.

Computer Knowledge:

This section tests the knowledge of computer applications and software. The topics covered in this section include computer hardware and software. Operating systems, MS Office, internet, and email.

ESIC UDC Syllabus: Exam Pattern

Phase I is an online initial exam having multiple-choice questions. The exam lasts one hour and comprises three sections.

Candidates who clear Phase I become eligible for Phase II. It is an online main exam consisting of multiple-choice questions. Testing the candidates’ knowledge in various subjects.

Prelims Exam 2024

The ESIC conducts an exam for the post of Upper Division Clerk (UDC). To select candidates for ESIC offices across India. The ESIC UDC exam pattern occurs in two phases – Phase I and Phase II. The Prelims exam, known as Phase I, is an online basic exam. That comprises multiple-choice questions. The exam occurs for a duration of one hour. It consists of three sections. English Language, Reasoning Ability, and Quantitative Aptitude. The Prelims exam serves as a screening test. To filter out candidates who are not eligible for the main exam.

The Prelims exam consists of a total of 100 multiple-choice questions. Each question carries one mark. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer. The Prelims exam happens in both English and Hindi languages. Candidates who qualify for the Prelims exam can appear for mains exam.

Mains Exam 2024

The Mains exam is an online exam for candidates who have cleared the Prelims.

The ESIC UDC Mains exam pattern consists of four sections. General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness. Quantitative Aptitude and English Grasp. The exam is for two hours. And consists of 200 multiple-choice questions, with each question carrying one mark. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer. The Mains exam is in both English and Hindi languages.

Computer Skill Test 2024

After clearing the Prelims and Mains stages of the ESIC UDC exam. Candidates have to appear for the Computer Skill Test. The Test assesses the candidates’ skills in computer operations. Such as typing speed, data entry, and use of basic computer software.

The Computer Skill Test is for 30 minutes. Candidates have to perform tasks such as typing a given passage. Preparing a table or slide, and data entry. The test is in the English language only. Candidates must score a least 17 marks out of 50. To qualify for the UDC post.
