Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design, in brief, UCEED, is the entrance examination for design. Generally, IIT Bombay will conduct the UCEED examination under the Guidance of the Implementation Committee of UCEED- CEED. Once the candidates get passed in the UCEED Examination, they will get admission for Bachelor of Design (BDes) at colleges accepting these UCEED scores.

Generally, UCEED Examinations will be conducted every month of January. In addition, merely attending the UCEED Examination or scoring a spot in the UCEED rank list will not guarantee admission to BDes programs. Selected aspirants of UCEED have to put separate applications for admission as per the procedure given by IIT Bombay.

Generally, UCEET admission is done based on merit marks in each category. The merit list will be prepared based on the scores gained by candidates in the UCEED written entrance examination.

 

Examination latest news

As per the latest news from IIT, Bombay candidates can start applying for UCEED from September 09, 2021, without a late fee. Likewise, applying for UCEED with a late fee is from October 11, 2021, to October 17, 2021. Consequently admit card for UCEED will be Released from 08, January 2022.

Generally, the application fee for all category UCEED candidates is 2000 Rs. As per the official notification, The UCEED Examination will be held on 23, January 2022 between 9 AM to 12 PM. Once the UCEED examinations are finished you can get your result on March 10, 2022. About Exam and Conducting Authority

Generally, UCEED will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), with the guidance of the UCEED-CEED Implementation Committee (2022). UCEED 2022 is open to all national Candidates  (Indian/Foreign). Candidates who are seeking admission for the Bachelor Degree program in Design at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD), Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG), Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH), and Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing Jabalpur (IIITDMJ) should appear for UCEED 2022.

UCEED qualified candidates should apply separately for the BDes admissions process as prescribed in the notification.

Although UCEED 2022 will be held at different centres across the country yet the Indian Institute of
Technology Bombay (IIT) is the Organizing Institute and holds the overall responsibility of
conducting UCEED every year. In case of any problem in respect of UCEED 2022, it is clear that the High Court of Bombay alone shall have the right to take action against the disputes.

 

Basic Information about the UCEED examination

Generally, UCEED Examinations happen in online mode between 9 AM to 12 PM. As per the latest announcement the date of the examination is 23, January 2022 so, candidates should prepare accordingly. The fee for the upcoming UCEED examination is 2000 Rs for all the categories.

Exam Notification

Generally, exam notification for UCEED will be released by IIT Bombay on their official website. Likewise this year also IIT Bombay has come up with important notifications about the UCEED examination. As we all know UCEED examination has been conducting for the admission of BDes degree in recognized Universities like IIT. Once candidates clear the UCEED examination, according to the merit list they will get a sheet in BDes degree.

Eligibility Criteria

If a UCEED aspirant wants to clear the UCEED examination, he or she needs to have the following eligibility criteria to qualify appearing for the examination.

Age

Only candidates who were born from October 1, 1997, can attend the examination, which is for only General/ / EWS / OBC category candidates. In case of belonging to the SC, ST, or PwD category, the candidate should have been born on or before October 1, 1992. This age limit is an updated version from the official website, which means this will be applicable only for UCEED 2022. It will change every year. 

In addition, UCEED candidates can attend the examination only twice that also in consecutive years. Candidates should be aware and prepare well for the examination since the number of attempts is very few.

Education

Citizens of any nation can attend the examination which means foreign citizens can also appear for the examination under certain guidelines and regulations. Candidates outside India will come under the category of r PIO/OCI. Likewise only 10%of sheets will be allocated for Foreign Candidates in Bdes admission. They may get supernumerary seats, which will be known at the time allocation.

However foreign citizen also has to pass the UCEED to get admission in BDes.

Qualifying Examination

  • Final examination of the 10+2 system which is organized by a Central or State Board from recognized by Indian Universities.
  • Then, the aspirants must complete the Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination.
  • Also, Final two-year course examination of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
  • Then, the Senior Secondary School Examination which is organised by the National Institute of Open
    Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Also, Board or University examination in India or a foreign country is approved as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities.
  • Then, A diploma approved by the All India Council for Technical Education or a State Board of Technical Education for at least three years duration.
  • General Certificate Education examination from London, Sri Lanka or Cambridge at the Advanced level which means “A:” level
  • High School Certificate Examination organized at Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office at Geneva.
  • Moreover, candidates with completed Class XII or equivalent examination outside India or from a Board not specified above must get a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities
  • Finally, If the Class XII examination is not a public examination, the aspirant should have passed at least one public examination before appearing for UCEED 2022.

 

Registration Process

Once the candidates make sure of the educational qualification then, they can apply for the examination. the application will be cancelled if, at a later date, or it is found that the aspirants don’t have any of the three eligibility criteria. Likewise, the UCEED application fee cannot be refunded. Be aware while applying, because it cannot be changed once you submitted it. As mentioned earlier, the application process starts on September 09 and ending on October 17, 2021. Candidates must apply on or before the last date.

The following step by step process for the UCEED application will give you a clear idea. Totally five stages in the UCEED application process to finish the application form.

Step 1: Filling registration form

First candidates must visit the UCEED official website then look for the related icons for the application process.  Once you find the link create login credentials, then you will get a message from the IIT Bombay team.  The message will have your application number and password, which will be also sent to your mobile number.

Step 2: Filling application form

Once the registration number and password are generated login again into the official website. Then, provide your user name and password in the given space, which is generated earlier. Now the application form for UCEED will pop up in front of you which has certain details to be filled in. I will mention in the following paragraph the details which need to be filled in.

Just general information like parents names as well as gender, nationality etc.

Step 3: Selecting cities for examination

Once finished with application details you have to choose the cities which is comfortable for you to attend the examination. You also have options while choosing, so choose three cities near you. You will get one of three cities that you preferred during this process.

Step 4: Upload Documents

Once you selected the cities then move to the upload document section. Where upload your required documents which are mentioned below

  • First Recent colour photograph, then scanned copy of your signature.
  • Qualifying examination certificate, in case, asked.  Then, Provisional certificate (in case asked), Category certificate (in case asked)
  • Request letter for an availing scribe or compensatory time (in case you needed)

Step 5: Application fee

Once you have completed all process which mentioned above, move to pay a fee. Candidates have to pay the required fees according to their category. Generally, The application fee for female candidates, SC/ST and also PwD candidates is 1750. Likewise for other candidates 3500 Rs.

 

Exam Syllabus

Part A

  • Visualization and spatial ability: Diagrammatic questions and Pictorial to know the understanding of transformation and manipulation of 2D and 3D objects and their spatial relationships, everyday mechanical and knowledge of practical and scientific concepts.
  • Then, Observation and design sensitivity: Ability to detect concealed properties in people, situations, ordinary things, and events, and critical thinking about them. Applying attention to, analysing, classifying inferring reasoning, and predicting. Able to discern subtle differences in aesthetic outcomes and properties of visual.
  • Also, Environmental and social awareness: General awareness of environmental factors like climate, pollution, population, natural resources, water, vegetation, weather, etc., and their implications on the design of products, infrastructure and environment. Awareness of culture and social connection with the history, design artefact, and socially responsible, environmentally sustainable design responses. History of art, literature and sculpture. 
  • Then, Analytical and logical reasoning: Ability to look at information, be it quantitative or qualitative in nature and also discern patterns within the information. Ability to argue, weigh opinions or solutions against appropriate criteria. Ability to check for hidden bias and whether argument or evidence support conclusions. Use logic and structured thinking to deduce short passages, which of several statements is the most accurate response to a posed question. Brainteasers, Data interpretation and patterns.
  • Likewise, Language and creativity: Ability to understand and use Reading comprehension, Standard English. knowledge of English grammar. Able to think creatively in terms of alternatives, ability to distinguish innovative options and thinking out-of-the-box.
  • Finally, Design thinking and problem-solving: Ability to use metaphors, signs, visual analogies, and symbols. Ability to identify problems, understand complexity, evaluate options, generate alternatives, and select solutions.

 

Part B

Drawing: Ability to draw like people, products, or scene proportion with good line quality, proportion, composition, Shading and perspective.

Generally, the Exam pattern for UCEED will be updated every year on the official website. This year also IIT Bombay has released the examination syllabus on the UCEED official website. Exam Admit card

    • Generally, Candidates whose registration is completed in all aspects can be able to download the Admit Card from the UCEED registration portal (www.succeed.iitb.ac.in).
    • The Admit Card will have the following details of the aspirants: Name, UCEED Registration ID, Roll Number for UCEED 2022, Date of Birth, Category, photograph, signature, examination schedule, examination centre details and instructions to candidates.
    • Candidates must carefully examine all the details in the Admit Card and the case of any discrepancy, contact the IIT Bombay office before the last date through the designated email address (uceed@iitb.ac.in).
    • In case the Admit Card is not available for downloading, the candidate must contact the UCEED Office at IIT Bombay immediately via email or phone]. Then, a printed copy of the downloaded Admit Card should be produced at the time of examination.

Exam Result

UCEED Results is declaring on March 10, 2022.

  • Firstly, UCEED results will be available only on the official website (www.uceed.iitb.ac.in). Aspirants need to use the user login and password  which is created during the registration process for viewing the results on the webpage
  • Then, All aspirants who take part in the UCEED 2022 can download their Score Card from March 14, 2022, to June 14, 2022.
  • Then, Shortlisted candidates of UCEED will get a common merit rank after the result. Shortlisted candidates will be considered as qualified candidates of  UCEED 2022.
  • In addition, just appearing for the UCEED Examination or scoring qualified marks in the UCEED rank list will not guarantee admission to BDes programs. aspirants who qualify for the UCEED exam need to put separate applications for admission as per the procedure given by IIT Bombay.
