About This Role

Job Description

Engineering problems that are almost right can be catastrophic in practice. Chegg holds its AI to a higher standard than ‘close enough’, and we are looking for experienced Engineers to enforce it. Whether your background is electrical, mechanical, civil, or systems engineering, you will author rigorous evaluation tasks, produce authoritative reference solutions, and flag AI reasoning failures before they reach students. Fully remote, asynchronous, and open to engineers across all relevant disciplines.

Core Responsibilities

  • Author original engineering evaluation tasks grounded in real technical problems — including frequency response analysis, Bode diagrams, circuit design, structural mechanics, or control systems depending on your discipline
  • Write reference solutions where every calculation, unit, diagram label, and logical step meets the standard of professional engineering practice
  • Review AI-generated calculations, schematics, and technical explanations for correctness, safety, and compliance with recognised engineering standards (IEEE, IEC, ASME, or equivalent)
  • Apply structured quality checks to AI outputs and document reasoning errors, unsafe assumptions, or departures from engineering best practice precisely
  • Produce performance curves, annotated charts, and worked examples that serve as benchmarks for evaluating AI engineering reasoning

Key Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline — Master’s or PhD preferred
  • Working fluency in at least two technical sub-areas relevant to your degree: signals and systems, control theory, power systems, structural analysis, or communications engineering
  • Comfortable reading and producing engineering artefacts — schematics, performance charts, tolerance analyses, or structural reports
  • Clear technical writer who can articulate engineering reasoning step by step
  • Meticulous; reliable; comfortable with independent asynchronous work

Nice to Have

  • Professional Engineering licence or equivalent industry certification
  • Hands-on experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB, COMSOL, ANSYS, or LTspice
  • Background spanning multiple engineering sub-disciplines

Why Chegg

  • Fully remote and flexible
  • Task-based commitment — typically 10–40 hours per week
  • Meaningful contribution to AI engineering education worldwide
  • Potential for ongoing engagement

Key Skills

circuit analysis, structural mechanics, control systems, matlab, comsol, ansys, ieee standards, asme, autocad
