Job Description
Trusted data is the foundation of trustworthy AI — and building that trust requires the kind of structured, rigorous governance that only an experienced practitioner can recognise. Chegg is looking for Data Governance professionals to serve as Consultants who will assess AI outputs on governance frameworks, metadata standards, and data quality management, and deliver the precise feedback that closes quality gaps. Fully remote and asynchronous.
Core Responsibilities
- Evaluate AI-generated content on enterprise data governance frameworks, metadata management practices, master data management, and data stewardship responsibilities for accuracy and practical applicability
- Verify alignment between AI recommendations and recognised industry standards including DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM, and ISO 8000 data quality frameworks
- Identify oversimplifications, omissions, and misrepresentations in how AI handles data lineage, data cataloguing, and data ownership accountability
- Design realistic governance scenario tasks — policy gap analyses, metadata schema reviews, and stewardship workflow evaluations — with deterministic evaluation criteria
- Produce structured feedback with clear pass/fail criteria that the Chegg quality team can act on without interpretation
Key Qualifications
- Experience in enterprise data governance, data quality management, data stewardship, or master data management is a plus but not required
- Practical knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK or DCAM; familiarity with data cataloguing platforms and metadata management tools
- Experienced reviewing data quality policies, lineage documentation, and governance control frameworks across complex enterprise environments
- Analytical mindset; writes precisely; reliable on independent asynchronous tasks
Nice to Have
- CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) designation or equivalent
- Experience in regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, or pharmaceuticals where governance standards are strictly enforced
- Working knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and data privacy governance implications
Why Chegg
- Fully remote and flexible
- Task-based commitment — typically 10–40 hours per week
- Specialist, high-value work in a fast-growing AI domain
- Potential for ongoing project opportunities
