Selection Criteria for Field Duty Medical Officer

  • The following breakdown of 10 marks will be taken into account for higher qualification:
  • a) A post-graduate (PG) degree (such as an MD or MS) will receive five marks.
    An extra 5 marks can be earned for PG qualifications in the following fields: anesthesiology; dermatology; dermatology, venemalogy, and leprosy; family medicine; general medicine; pediatrics; palliative medicine; pathology; psychiatry; radiodiagnosis; radiology; tuberculosis and respiratory diseases; emergency and critical care; otorhinolaryngology; ear, nose, and throat; general surgery; ophthalmology; orthopedics; obstetrics and gynecology; pulmonary and sleep disorders; traumatology & surgery; and etc.
    An additional five marks will not be awarded for any other qualifications, such as a postgraduate degree in biology, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, or forensic medicine.
    b) A post-master’s degree in the pertinent discipline will receive an extra five marks.
  • The requirements that determine whether to award extra points must be met; for instance, an MBA in hospital administration will not be taken into consideration.
