About This Role

Job Description

Public health decisions affect entire populations — and the AI systems that inform those decisions must meet an exceptional standard of accuracy and scientific integrity. Chegg is seeking experienced public health professionals to serve as Consultants, recreating realistic public health workflows, designing rigorous evaluation tasks, and reviewing AI outputs for accuracy, policy soundness, and ethical appropriateness. Fully remote and asynchronous.

Core Responsibilities

  • Recreate realistic public health digital workspaces — including surveillance summaries, grant applications, outbreak investigation memos, health assessment reports, and policy briefs — that serve as grounded evaluation environments
  • Design multi-step public health tasks grounded in real epidemiological workflows, requiring AI to navigate programme data, stakeholder communications, and population health analytics simultaneously
  • Evaluate AI-generated public health content — disease surveillance outputs, intervention recommendations, epidemiological analyses — for scientific accuracy, methodological integrity, and ethical soundness
  • Apply expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, and health policy to verify that AI reasoning reflects established public health standards and guidelines
  • Collaborate asynchronously with the Chegg research team to refine evaluation criteria and improve AI quality in population health contexts

Key Qualifications

  • Professional experience at a federal health agency, state or county health department, or R1 school of public health is a plus but not required
  • Deep expertise in at least two of: epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy analysis, programme evaluation, or environmental health
  • MPH, DrPH, or PhD preferred; strong quantitative and analytical background
  • Fluent in tools used in public health practice — ArcGIS, SAS, MATLAB, or equivalent statistical and GIS platforms
  • Clear, precise written communicator who can explain findings without overstating certainty

Nice to Have

  • Grant writing or federal reporting experience with NIH, CDC, or similar agencies
  • Background in global health equity, health communications, or infectious disease surveillance
  • Familiarity with Socrata open-data portals or public health data warehouses

Why Chegg

  • Fully remote and asynchronous
  • Task-based commitment — typically 10–40 hours per week
  • High-impact contribution to AI that informs population-level health decisions
  • Ongoing engagement as the programme expands

Key Skills

epidemiology, biostatistics, r, sas, stata, cdc guidelines, who frameworks, health policy, outbreak modelling
