Ministry of Railways every year announces exam dates for vacancies for SI posts in RPF and RPSF. These vacancies are usually announced in August or September. Ministry conducts these exams every year at various centers. Candidates who clear these exams are posted at different railway zones. Candidates who chose RPF are only posted with RPF i.e. railway protection force and candidates who chose RPSF are posted with RPSF i.e. railway protection special force only.
These vacancies are open for both men and women. All the candidates appear for the same computer-based test. However, there are different physical standards for candidates of different categories. The central recruitment committee is the final authority for selecting the candidates after all the exams are done.

As exams dates are not announced yet, candidates should use this time for preparation. They should prepare for the computer-based exam. They should also work on their physical performance for various tests. Candidates can also utilize this time to prepare their documents.
Ministry of Railways has a fixed physical measurement and physical efficiency requirement from the candidates such as height, chest expansion, etc. candidates who do not fully fill these requirements must not apply. Release of admit card and clearing computer-based test does not warrant that candidates will not get rejected during document verification. Increasing physical efficiency is possible. The applicant with low physical stamina must utilize the time to improve it.
