The IBPS PO Prelims Exam Pattern 2025 will have three sections: Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and English. IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern 2025

  • Descriptive Paper Introduction: Similar to the SBI PO Exam, IBPS has introduced a Descriptive Paper in the Mains Exam to assess candidates’ writing skills. It includes an essay and a letter, carrying a total of 25 marks, to be completed within 30 minutes.
  • Revised Time Allocation: The time assigned for each section has been modified.
  • Computer Applications Integration: There will be no separate Computer Applications paper. Instead, the Reasoning section is now combined with Computer Aptitude, comprising 45 questions worth 60 marks.
  • Negative Marking: A penalty of 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer in the Objective Tests.
  • Updated Exam Duration: The IBPS PO 2025 Mains Objective Exam duration has been increased from 140 minutes to 180 minutes, with an additional 30 minutes for the Descriptive Test. The total exam duration is now 3 hours and 30 minutes.
  • Sectional Division: The Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, English Language, and Data Analysis & Interpretation sections are split into Section A and Section B. All questions in both sections are mandatory, with some carrying 2 marks and others 1 mark.

IBPS PO Interview 

The interview process for IBPS PO 2025 is conducted for candidates who qualify for the Mains Exam. It carries a total of 100 marks, with a minimum qualifying score of 40% for general candidates and 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories.

A penalty of 0.25 marks is applied for each incorrect answer in both the Preliminary and Mains Exams. However, no marks are deducted for unanswered questions.

Final selection is based on the combined scores of the Mains Exam and the Interview, with a weightage ratio of 80:20. A merit list is prepared, and candidates who make it to the list receive a joining letter from their assigned bank. The individual interview will carry 100 marks, and the aspirant’s score must reach 40% to be on the merit list. Once the interview is done, IBPS will release its merit list on the official website.
