APSET Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

All candidates who meet the required educational qualifications are eligible to take the APSET 2025 exam for the Assistant Professor position, regardless of their age. There is no upper age limit for applicants.

Educational Criteria

• To apply for the APSET exam, applicants must have obtained a minimum of 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s degree or equivalent examination from a UGC-recognized university/institution. However, candidates from reserved categories (Backward Classes (BC)/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Transgender/persons with disability (PwD)) must have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s degree or equivalent examination.
• Candidates who are awaiting the results of their final year examination or whose qualifying exams have been postponed are eligible to apply for the exam, but their admission will be provisional until they provide their mark sheet within a specified period. Failure to produce the mark sheet within the given time will result in disqualification.
• Applicants who hold a PhD degree and whose Master’s degree was completed by September 1991 (regardless of the result announcement date) are eligible for a 5% relaxation in the aggregate marks to be eligible for the exam.
• Transgender candidates will receive the same relaxation regarding fees, age, and qualifying criteria as those available to candidates in the SC/ST/PwD categories.
• Candidates are only permitted to take the exam in the subject of their Master’s degree. However, if a candidate’s post-graduation subject is not listed among the APSET subjects, they may take the exam in a related subject.
• Candidates who have obtained a postgraduate diploma or certificate from an Indian or Foreign University/Institute have to verify the equivalence of their qualifications with a Master’s degree from a recognized Indian University. This verification should be done through the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

To register for the APSET exam, the candidate must hold Indian nationality.

How to apply for APSET 2025?

To avoid rejection of their application, candidates must ensure they correctly and thoroughly complete the Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test exam application form. The following steps can be followed to fill out the application form:

• Go to the official website and select the registration link.
• Enter all necessary information in the registration form, including the candidate’s name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth, gender, category, contact details, and password.
• Verify all entered details before clicking “submit” to complete the registration process.
• Upon successful registration, candidates will receive an email containing their email ID and password at their registered email address.
• Log in to the official website using the provided email ID and password to access the application form using the registration ID and password.
• Fill in personal information, educational qualifications, and preferred exam centre on the application form.
• Upload scanned images of signature, passport-sized photograph, and any required certificates (such as category or PwD certificate).
• Review the application form for accuracy and make any necessary corrections.
• Finally, pay the application fee through online mode (credit/debit card or net banking) to successfully submit the form.

Photograph and Signature

• The candidates must upload a scanned photograph for the APSET exam, in JPEG/JPG format. The desired file size is 15Kb-50Kb.
• Moreover, candidates must also upload a scanned signature. The format is similar to the photograph. The only difference is in the size of the file. The desired file size for a signature is 5Kb-20Kb.
• APSET does not accept photographs or signatures below the given sizes.

APSET Admit Card

The admit card is a crucial document that candidates must carry with them to the examination centre. It contains important details such as the candidate’s name, roll number, photograph, examination venue, date and time of the examination, and instructions for the exam day. To download the Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test admit card, candidates need to visit the official website and log in with their registration number and password. The admit card will be available for download a few days before the examination.

APSET Exam Pattern

The examination is composed of two papers, namely Paper 1 and Paper 2, both of which are comprised of multiple-choice questions. Paper 1 contains 50 multiple-choice questions, each worth two marks. The weightage of each question in Paper 2 depends on the candidate’s preferred subject. Paper 2 includes 100 compulsory objective-type questions worth 100 marks. SELECTION PROCESS FOR APSET 2025

The selection process for APSET 2025 is composed of two main components. Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements regarding APSET qualification and age limit must familiarize themselves with the selection process. The selection is purely based on merit, and the following stages are involved:

1. Marks obtained in the written examination (Paper I & Paper II).
2. Verification of documents.

APSET Result

Once the APSET examination is concluded and the answer key is released, the official website will publish the APSET exam results. The results will include the scorecard and cut-off marks. The APSET result will be presented in the form of a scorecard that will indicate candidates’ scores and percentages, as well as their eligibility for the exam. The total scores and percentages for each paper will be publicly available. Candidates who score equal to or higher than the minimum qualifying marks will be considered qualified.

CUT-OFF FOR PREVIOUS YEAR APSET CUT-OFF 2024

The Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test 2024 cut-off scores will be released by category, paper, and subject for all 30 subjects. The cut-off will be made public along with the scorecard and result by the authorities. The category-wise cut-off is the minimum score required to pass the exam in a particular category. Several factors, including the exam’s difficulty level, can influence the APSET cut-off.

• General category candidates must have appeared in both papers and obtained at least 40% aggregate marks in both papers combined to qualify for the exam.
• Applicants belonging to backward categories, SC/ST/PwD categories, must receive at least 35% aggregate marks in both papers combined to be eligible for the exam.

Selection Criteria

APSET has set selection criteria for the candidates appearing in their exams. The points below will help it understand how this process works.

• Firstly, out of all the appearing candidates, only 6% of them will qualify exam. Therefore, only this percentage of candidates are eligible for the positions of Lecturers and Assistant Professors.
• Secondly, out of this 6% of candidates, their distribution will take place. In simple words, this 6% of qualified candidates includes all the candidates from every category, like general, SC, or ST. The distribution is as follows: BC-A (7%), BC-B(10%), BC-C (1%), BC-D (7%), BC-E (4%), SC (15%,) and ST (6%).
