The University of Mysore is a government university. In fact, it was established as early as 1916. Above all, NAAC has given it an A Grade and UGC has also recognized it. It offers many UG, PG, and Doctoral programs in various streams. For instance, some of the streams that university offers are Commerce, Science, and Technology, Law, Arts, Education, etc. Besides, it has some distance learning programs as well.
At present, the university administers constituent colleges, affiliated colleges, Research centers that are 8, 180, and 8 respectively. Moreover, UOM has 1,20,000+ students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs.

Bachelors: University offers many courses at the undergraduate level in various streams. For instance, the streams which the university offers are, etc. Namely, BA, BBA, B.com, BCA, B.Sc, etc are available in many specializations as well.
Masters: The University offers many post-graduate courses. For instance, M.A. is available in twenty-seven specializations; Women Studies, linguistic studies, Journalism and Mass Communication, Economics, English, Linguistics, Rural Development, etc. Besides, there are many other Postgraduate courses namely, M.Sc. Genetics, M.Tech Urban and Regional Planning, M.com, MBA, M.Sc. in Zoology, M.Ed., LLM, MBA Agribusiness, etc., and many more are options to choose from.
Ph.D.: Finally, for the Ph.D. courses, the candidate has to get his Master’s degree from a reputed University. Moreover, he/she should have a minimum of 55%/ 50% marks. The University offers a Doctorate in Ancient History and Archeology, Anthropology, Women Studies, Commerce, Law, etc.

One of the Oldest Universities in India, the University of Mysore was established in 1916. Above all, it was the first university that never came under the rule of Britishers. In fact, it was the result of the efforts put in by Maharaja Wadiyar-4th. The university got its autonomy in 1956 when UGC recognized it. furthermore, adding to the list of firsts, it was also the first university to which was accredited by NAAC. Now, it holds the rank of 27 in India.

UOM has four campuses. All four are bedecked with lakes as well as trees. For instance, the main campus is called Manasagangotri; a perennial stream of mind. Moreover, It has a beautiful kukkarahalli lake and green trees. Besides, the other campuses are in Tubinakere, Mandya, and Chamarajangara.
Furthermore, there are more than 80 departments, 200+ affiliated colleges, and 30+ research centers.
The library is the soul of an institution. It gives space for reading as well as research. In fact, the central library has a total number of 800.000 books. In fact, the University started functioning in 1918. Moreover, the library is in Manasgangotri Campus. Above all, the then President, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
Taking care of the health of students is also the responsibility of the university. So, UOM provides medical facilities not only to its students but its Employees as well. Besides, it has a Pharmacy as well as a drug store.
The auditoriums are the venue for many events organized on the campus. Hence, UOM has many state-of-art auditoriums. For instance, name of some of them is Senate Bhavan, Crawford Hall, Einstein Auditorium, Vijnana Bhavan, etc. Besides, there is an open-air amphitheater as well.
Playing sports is a necessary activity to increase concentration and decrease stress levels. Basically, sports bring out the best in a person. Hence, UOM lays a lot of emphasis on extra-curricular activities. For instance, to promote engagement in sports, the University has a Swimming pool, Gymnasium with Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Weight lifting facilities, Cricket ground, cinder tracks, etc. Besides, there are handball courts, Hockey fields, Kho-kho fields, football fields as well.
