Infrastructure Facilities at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad
Library
The institute has a library on its campus known as the Knowledge Management Centre. The library has a large collection of print, digital, audio-visual, and e-books. In addition to that, the University also has documentation, reports, research work, and projects. The campus has subscriptions to various newspapers, magazines, journals, and data. Moreover, NID, Ahmedabad, has e-books from the best colleges such as Oxford, Cambridge, Cengage, and so on. The students have a lot of exposure to gain knowledge from the best colleges and sources in the world.
Hostel
Accommodation is provided to students from this institute through its hostel facility. NID, Ahmedabad has two hostels on its campus, among which one is for boys, and the other is for girls. Local students do not get accommodation facilities on the campus. The hostel provides accommodation only for a year, and students have to re-apply every year. Additionally, each room is provided with basic facilities such as a bed, chair, desk, fan, and so on. Moreover, the students are also provided with mess facilities in the hostel.
Labs
In real life, practical learning is very important. Therefore, the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, offers various lab facilities to its students, such as the design lab, computer lab, skill development lab, and so on. Additionally, the institute also has a ceramics and glass lab as well as a printing lab. Moreover, the University also offers its students some unique facilities such as leather and plastics lab, innovation lab, industrial design lab, etc. These labs prove to be very useful for students during research.
Sports Complex
Sports are very important for maintaining fitness and for the overall development of the student. As a result, the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, has a basketball court within its campus. This gives students a ground to practice and helps them with maintaining good health. In addition to that, the college also provides its students with various opportunities to participate in inter-college and inter-departmental events by representing the college. This gives the student the additional extracurricular activities to stand out.
Gym
Not only does the National Institute of Design, but Ahmedabad also provides good education and learning to its students. But, it also provides extracurricular activities to its students, such as the gym. Having a gym on campus helps students to maintain their fitness and stay healthy. Due to this, students don’t have to travel far off in search of another gym. However, the gym is not open for the whole day, and the students have to follow the timing given.
Other facilities
National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad provides top-class infrastructural facilities to its students, such as a design studio, gym, Wi-Fi campus, and auditorium. In addition to that, the University also offers its students a textile design studio, apparel design studio, high-performance visualization, and a GRIDS studio. Moreover, there is also a seminar hall, design vision center with rapid prototyping, design gallery, medical facilities, and so on.
