Thus Bharathidasan University was established into being in the year 1982 The University’s motto, “We shall create a bold new world,” was inspired by Bharathidasan’s beautiful lines ” புதியதோர் உலகம் செய்வோம்.” The University strives to live up to this ambition by fostering a bold new world of academic innovation for social change in the region. It is also searching for and implementing new ways to boost the quality of higher education. With students from all over the state, the campus has a positive feel. Teachers with a lot of experience and training are highly encouraged to work with the students. It’s almost as if it’s second nature to us. The highly motivated students on campus are a source of daily pride.

Putting a strong focus on growth is also important. The ability to teach students with a broader scope is one of the college’s core concepts. To give students an opportunity to show off their skills. Departments of Social Work, Computer Science, the Centre for Remote Sensing, the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre (Formerly UGC-Academic Staff College), and others are located on the downtown campus. Aside from this, the Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM), a public sector project in Tiruverumbur, is home to the Bharathidasan Institute of Management (adjudged as one of the best business schools in the country).

There are four faculties, sixteen schools, 37 departments, and 29 specialised research centres at the university. The University has 263 faculty members who serve 2564 students and intellectuals. There are 151 programmes offered by the University Departments/Schools, including 40 PG programmes in M.A., M.Sc., and M.Tech. The following programmes are offered in semesters through the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS): 31 M.Phil., 33 Ph.D., 19 Postgraduate Diploma, 11 Diploma, and 10 Certificates. There are 457 members of the University’s support personnel.

In addition to the traditional teaching programmes in the Departments and Schools, the University offers 15 UG and 26 PG programmes through its Distance Education mode. All UG and PG programmes are offered in a non-semester format, while MCA and MBA programmes are offered in a semester format alongside conventional programmes. This form of delivery is particularly common for MCA and MBA programmes.

History of Bharathidasan University

  • Bharathidasan University established into in the year 1982.
  • As time progressed, the South Campus in Palkalaiperur donated to the newly established Anna University of Technology, along with the associated infrastructure. A piece of the land lately allocated to the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Tiruchirappalli. The University also has a downtown campus in Khajamalai, which previously housed the University of Madras’ Autonomous Post-Graduate Centre in Tiruchirappalli. In addition to the administrative building, which houses the Vice-Secretariat, Chancellor’s Registrar’s Office, Finance, and Examination offices, the main Palkalaiperur Campus has the majority of academic departments and research facilities.
  • Schools of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Geosciences, Social Sciences, Marine Sciences, and Languages are among the academic units of the Palkalaiperur Campus. The Central Library, University Informatics Centre, Hostels, Staff Quarters, Health Center, Canteen, and other facilities are also located on the Campus. Departments of Social Work, Computer Science, the Centre for Remote Sensing, the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre (Formerly UGC-Academic Staff College), and others are located on the downtown campus.
