Banaras Hindu University Campus

On the banks of the holy river, Ganges is the main campus of Banaras Hindu University. In particular, the campus is located on the southern edge of Varanasi. The campus is semi-circular in shape. Banaras Hindu University: Rajiv Gandhi South Campus

The South Campus of BHU got established afterward. It was in 1979 whereof Bharat Mandal Trust leased the campus to the University. Incidentally, BHU’s south campus is southwest of the main campus. Furthermore, it is about 60 km from the main campus. There is an Agriculture Science Centre here. Therefore, it focuses on research in agricultural techniques. History of the Banaras Hindu University

Central Hindu College was the former name of Banaras Hindu University. Consequently, BHU was established in the year 1916. Maharaja Rameshwar Singh of Darbhanga, Madan Mohan Malaviya, Sunderlal, and Annie Besant jointly established the University. The Banaras Hindu University Bill was passed in October 1915. Inputs from Indian educationalists and nationalists were used to develop the University.

The main campus of BHU has over 62 hostels. In the first place, 21 hostels are for female students. It is in addition to 41 for male students. Especially, there are four hostels for international students alone. Therefore in all about 12000 students can stay here. Above all, there are student hostels on the south campus as well. Also, you have wifi facility in the hostel. Besides that, you have amenities like a recreation room, water purifiers, and a surveillance system.


BHU provides excellent resources to its students. Therefore, they provide a fully-equipped and functional computer lab. Also, there are other high-standard labs in BHU. It is for physics, chemistry, and Zoology. There is a biotechnology lab as well. Also, you have a separate CAD-CAM lab.
