Later in the 4th century BC, the Sakia emerged in Kush Kingdom. Similarly, in 7th century BC the bloomeries and blast furnaces were started in Meroe. The Kushite Sundials applied the concepts of advanced Trigonometry (mathematics). Likewise, mechanical engineering has become a part of many countries and cultures all over the world.

Later, in the 17th century many important foundations in this field were developed in England. In 1657, the pendulum clock was introduced by the Dutch mathematician and Physicist Christiaan Huygens. In the 19th century when Industrial revolution was at its peak, many machine products were introduced in England, Germany and Scotland. This is when the field of mechanical engineering has emerged and the first British professional society was formed. The society was likewise, formed in 1847 which was known as the Institution of Mechanical engineers.

In 1880, another society named American Society of mechanical engineers was formed in US. United States Military academy has firstly started the engineering schools in United states. In ancient times, mechanical engineering was mostly concerned with mathematics and science.
