Birla Institute of Technology – Established in 1955

The Birla Institute of Technology was founded by eminent philanthropist and industrialist, Late Shri BM Birla. At first, it was started with the department of Mechanical Engineering. Later on, different departments were introduced gradually. BIT, Mesra is the first technical institution particularly, to establish a Department of Space Engineering and Rocketry. Apart from that, it also offers PG programs in association with the Indian Space Research Organization. Moreover, in 1972, the University received autonomous status.

Accordingly, the Birla Institute of Technology offers many programs under UG, PG, and Ph.D. curriculum. Under the UG programs, it offers courses like B. Pharm, B.Tech in Biotechnology, B.Arch, B.Tech (ECE), B.Tech (EEE), and Bachelor of Hotel Management, etc. On the other hand, there are more than 30 PG programs and 6 Ph.D. programs offered at the University presently.

All the students, by all means, stay in the campus hostel during their studies. For this reason, the institute has 14 hostels which include 12 hostels for boys and 2 for girls. Vinoba Bhave University – Established in 1992

Vinoba Bhave University is funded by the agencies of the Government of India and Jharkhand state. Honorable Sri Ramesh bais, the Governor of Jharkhand is the Chancellor of the University. The university came into existence on 17 September 1992 as a result of the bifurcation of Ranchi University. Moreover, As per the MHRD NIRF ranking 2017, the university has ranked 149th among other institutes in India.
