The Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Aptitude Test (UPSC CSAT) 2022 is a part of the preliminary exam of the Civil Services Examination (CSE). The CSAT Exam is designed to judge the analytical ability, reasoning skills and aptitude of the candidates. More importantly, it is only a qualifying paper meaning that candidates only have to clear the 33% cutoff to clear the CSAT exam. No rank list is prepared for this paper. So, all those candidates who clear the required cutoff move to the next stage. The official notification for the CSAT Exam was released on 2nd February 2022 by the Union Public Service Commission which provides all the necessary details about the exam. The UPSC CSAT Exam is a great career opportunity for Engineering, Medical Science, and Law students and for students holding a bachelor’s degree. Candidates who qualify for the Preliminary Examination move forward to the Mains Examination. Thereafter, candidates who ultimately qualify for the Mains Examination along with the Personal Interview stage are selected for the Civil Service Posts all over India.

The application procedure began on 2nd February 2022 up till 22nd February 2022. The application process was online, and the form was accessible from their official website. Admit Cards for the Prelims examination were released a week before the paper i.e. in the last week of May 2022. On 5th June 2022, the Prelims examination was held in offline mode at all the respective exam centers. The result s soon expected to be announced by the commission after which eligible candidates will appear for the Mains examination from 16th September onwards.

Candidates who have filled in the application form to appear in the Civil Service Exam 2022 should remember the application number and password and should check their emails at regular intervals as UPSC can publish the download link of admit card (e-hall ticket). UPSC preliminary exam Admit Card can be downloaded from 10th May 2022.
UPSC CSAT Preliminary exam 2022 will be taken on 5th June 2022, and the UPSC CSE Mains exam 2022 will be taken on 16th September 2022.

There has been no change in the exam pattern for the year 2022, candidates appearing for the CSAT exam should be a minimum of 21 years of age and a maximum of 32 years of age.

Ans. The CSAT prelims exam 2022 will be conducted on 5th June 2022. Civil Services preliminary examination conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) consists of two papers. While Paper I is on General Studies and Paper II is on Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). So, the first shift of CSAT prelim exam Paper I will start at 9:30 am and get finished at 11:30 am, followed by second shift paper II, that will start at 2:30 pm and get finished at 4:30 pm.
The CSAT Mains exam 2022 will be conducted on 16th September 2022 onwards, there will be nine (9) papers for CSAT mains exam.
Ans. The judgement from the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India against the plea for the postponement of the Union Public Service Examination in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, the CSAT exam 2020 was scheduled for 4th October 2020. While the Delhi High Court have continued hearing plea seeking postponement of UPSC CSAT Mains exam 2021 scheduled between 7th January 2022 and 16th January 2022 in the view of third wave of Covid-19 pandemic.
The union public service commission had postponed civil services preliminary exam scheduled to be held on 27th June 2021 to 10th October 2021. Now, the plea has been finally rejected by Delhi High Court. Therefore, looking into the scenario the CSAT exam date for prelims and Mains for the year 2022 will not get postponed in wake of COVID 19.
Ans. The first stage of evaluation by union public service commission is by preliminary exam called as Civil services aptitude test (CSAT prelims exam 2022). There are further two stages CSAT mains exam and personal interview.
CSAT preliminary exam has two papers:
General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II (CSAT). The nature of exam is such that the scores Paper I will determine if you qualify for cut off for prelims exam. The candidates will need only 33% or 66 marks to appear in order to qualify in Paper I. Paper II cut-off marks depends on number of students appearing for prelims exam, previous cut-off scores, how students performed in the exam etc. Paper I will have 100 questions and Paper II will have 80 questions, both papers will be of 200 marks each.

Ans. CSAT preliminary exam has two papers General Studies I having 100 questions and General Studies II having 80 questions. In total, each of these papers are of total 200 marks, the candidates appearing these papers have to appear offline on two separate session in a single day. In order to qualify candidates have to score at least 66 marks out of 200 marks. As for the preliminary exam, it is conducted to evaluate analytical skills, aptitude, personality, mindset, logic and knowledge of a candidate. This is the first step of exam followed by 9 papers of CSAT mains and personal interview. CSAT exam has not been removed from UPSC and will continue as preliminary exam required for candidate in order to appear first stage of exam.
