The Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Aptitude Test (UPSC CSAT) 2022 is a part of the preliminary exam of the Civil Services Examination (CSE). The CSAT Exam is designed to judge the analytical ability, reasoning skills and aptitude of the candidates. More importantly, it is only a qualifying paper meaning that candidates only have to clear the 33% cutoff  to clear the CSAT exam. No rank list is prepared for this paper. So, all those candidates who clear the required cutoff move to the next stage.                   

For young graduates, the UPSC CSAT Exam presents itself as a great career opportunity. The official notification for the Exam was released on 2nd February 2022 by the Union Public Service Commission which provides all the necessary details about the exam. Further, the admit card for the preliminary exam was released on 10th May, 2022.

UPSC CSAT 2022 – Latest News

  • Candidates can apply for the UPSC CSAT prelims exam – 2022 online from 2nd February 2022 and the last date for receipt of applications will be notified as 22nd February 2022 till 18:00 (6 pm).
  • The UPSC Prelims exam will be on 5th June 2022, and both papers will be taken on the same day.
  • The first shift of the CSAT prelims exam will start at 9:30 am and will finish at 11:30 am, followed by the second shift which started at 2:30 pm and finished at 4:30 pm.
  • The UPSC Mains exam will be on 16th September 2022.

UPSC CSAT 2022 – Procedure to download the Admit Card

  1. Visit the official website of UPSC 
  2. The “Download UPSC CSAT Admit Card” option will be highlighted on the screen. Click on it.
  3. Enter your Registration ID and Roll number and click on “Submit”
  4. You will be directed to your UPSC CSAT 2022 Admit Card.
  5. Download the Admit Card in a .pdf format and take a hard copy of the same for future use.

Candidates should only download one admit card. If for any reason, candidates download two different admit cards, they should inform the UPSC immediately. They should also use only their admit card and hand over the other admit card at the center. They may receive different instructions. The candidate must follow them.

UPSC CSAT Admit Card – Important Points to Remember

  1. Candidates must keep their login details safe.
  2. At the time of exam registration, log-in details are generated. Candidates must not misplace these details.
  3. Candidates must download their admit cards and keep a hard copy of them.
  4. They should keep the admit cards safe and secure.
  5. Admit cards should not get dirty with stains.
  6. They should not be torn from any place too.

UPSC CSAT 2022 – Documents to carry with the Admit Card

Candidates need to make sure that they are in possession of the following documents on the day of the examination along with their Admit Card. Not being in possession will lead to disqualification from the exam.

  • Voter’s card
  • Driving license
  • Bank passbook

UPSC CSAT 2022 – Important thing to remember

  1. The photo ID proof should have a clear picture of the candidate and should mandatorily be issued by a gazetted officer or representative of the government.
  2. Candidates need to carefully check all the details mentioned in the admit card. If any disparity arises, candidates must quickly report it to the commission through mail at uscsp-upsc@nic.in.
  3. The candidate is mandated to have the Admit Card on their person on the day of the examination. Failing to have the admit card can lead to disqualification from the exam. Bring a black ballpoint pen as well in each day of the exam.
  4. Reach the exam center on time. The Examination Hall will be closed from entry 10 minutes before the commencement of the exam and no candidate will be allowed entry after that.

UPSC CSAT 2022 – Interview Call letter

There is no interview call letter for the UPSC CSAT exam. Candidates will appear for interviews only after they clear CSAT Preliminary Exam. The UPSC main and personal interview is the next step of the exam. After the result of UPSC CSE Prelims Examination, the Commission will declare the dates for UPSC Mains.

Q.1 Is UPSC CSAT admit card out?

Ans. The date of downloading Admit Card for Preliminary exam 2022 is 10th May 2022. The CSAT prelims exam will be held on 5th June 2022. The Admit Card is a mandatory document to be carried along with to the exam center along with any one of the photo identity cards such as Aadhar Card, PAN card, Voter Card, or Passport. 

The Admit card download link will appear on the official website of UPSC (www.upsc.gov.in) usually 4 weeks before the exam date. The candidates who have registered for the CSAT preliminary exam will receive a message to go to their official website to download and print the admit card for the exam.

Q.2 Is UPSC CSAT Prelims 2022 admit card released?

Ans. The tentative date of receiving a download link for admit card is around 15th May 2022. The download link will remain active till the date of the preliminary exam i.e. 5th June 2022, so that candidates can download and print the admit card by entering their login credentials like application number, password, and mobile or email. The admit card is a mandatory document to be carried along with at the exam center, as candidates without admit card will not be allowed to appear for the exam.

Q.3 Will UPSC CSAT 2022 be postponed?

Ans. No, The UPSC exam 2022 will not be postponed. 

There was a plea to postpone the UPSC exam since 2020 in the wake of COVID 19 pandemic to ensure safety of candidates appearing for the exam. The Supreme Court had rejected the plea to postpone the UPSC exam in 2020. Along the same lines, even the Delhi High Court in 2021 received a similar plea of postponement of the UPSC 2022 exam due to the third wave of COVID 19 pandemic. 

Q.4 Should I take a printout of my admit card?

Ans.  Admit card is a mandatory document required to carry along with a photo identity card at the exam center. Candidates will not be allowed admission in the exam center without their valid admit card  and proof of their identity as photo id with them. Candidates must take printout of their admit card and carry them along with them to exam center on the date of exam.

Q.5 Can I use the same admit card for the UPSC Mains?

Ans. No, candidates appearing for UPSC CSAT exam will have separate admit cards for CSAT preliminary exam and UPSC Mains exam. There are different dates of exam and admit card download for prelims and mains exam.

Q.6 What should I do in case my admit card is not uploaded?

Ans.  In case Candidate can not download the admit card, they should inform the exam authorities at UPSC immediately by sending an email address. In case candidate has forgotten registration ID of UPSC Admit card, they can visit the website, enter registered email id, date of birth, enter the captcha received, registration number will be displayed and then candidate can download UPSC Admit card.

Q.7 What should I do to get the exam center of my choice?

Ans. In order to get the exam center of their choice, candidate should fill in their application as soon as possible, as UPSC considers the application on first come first serve basis. Once the maximum number of candidates gets their exam seats allotted for particular UPSC exam center that center gets blocked and frozen, and No candidate can select that UPSC exam center after it has been completely filled in.

Q.8 If I had to fill up two forms due to a mistake, which registration number should I use?

Ans. Candidate should register their details online for CSAT exam 2022 on UPSC official website. The details filled in should be verified for each of the data inserted and should be submitted only when candidate is sure of the information to be correct and have been validated with the marksheets, date of appearing class X or XII, date of birth on the certificate, the spelling of their name etc. is as per their Aadhar card and PAN card. In case candidate had to fill the form again, the registration number should be same as received in their official email address as the personal details such as name, date of birth, marksheet information, selection of exam and center selected will be unique.
