OUCET stands for Osmania University Common Entrance Test. It is a university-level entrance examination conducted every year by Osmania University. OUCET (CPGET) 2022 Application Form will be released from the 1st week of June 2022 through online mode.

The OUCET exam now has been replaced with the CPGET (Common Post Graduation Entrance Test). The examination will be conducted for the candidates seeking admission in various offered courses at Osmania University. The full form of OUCET is Osmania University Common Entrance Test. As evident in the name, OUCET is an entrance exam for admission to Osmania University. So, if you want to pursue your post-graduation (PG) at this university, you have to clear this exam.

Also, the exam name has officially been changed from OUCET to CPGET in April 2021. However, people still commonly refer to it as OUCET out of habit.

One can be admitted in any of the PG, PG Diploma, and integrated courses of 5 years at Osmania, Palamuru, Mahatma Gandhi, Telangana, Kakatiya, Satavahana Universities, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, and their affiliated colleges in the state of Telangana through OUCET. Some of the degree programs offered are M.A, M.Com, M.Sc., BLISc, MLISc, MCJ, MSW, M.P.Ed, M.Ed, etc.

Osmania University (OU) is located in Hyderabad, Telangana. It is a public state university named after the founder, Mir Osman Ali Khan, who was the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad. He founded OU in 1918. It is one of the oldest universities in South India.

OUCET Exam’s Basic Information

If you are interested in this exam, the first thing you should know is the OUCET eligibility criteria. To be able to appear for the exam, you must have a Bachelor’s Degree in the same or related subject with a minimum aggregate mark of 40%. For more detailed information on this, scroll down.

The exam will be online computer-based. You have to answer 100 multiple choice questions of 1 mark each within 90 minutes. There is no official age limit for attempting OUCET.  Also, it happens only once a year. So, you can take as many attempts to qualify OUCET as you want. There is no problem with that. But of course, wasting year after year for this exam is neither worth it nor practical.

If you apply for only one subject, you have to pay Rs. 800/- if you belong to the General or OBC category, and Rs. 600/- if you belong to SC, ST, or PH category. You can apply for multiple subjects. In that case, for every additional subject, Rs. 450/- have to be paid.

As you already know by now, the exam conducting authority is Osmania University (OU); and the participating institutions are in Osmania, Palamuru, Mahatma Gandhi, Telangana, Kakatiya, Satavahana Universities, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, and their affiliated colleges in the state of Telangana. The degree programs you can apply for through OUCET are M.A, M.Com, M.Sc., BLISc, MLISc, MCJ, MSW, M.P.Ed, M.Ed, etc.

 

Additional information:

  • For some courses— like Sc. in Biochemistry, Genetics, Environmental Science, Forensic Science, Biotechnology, and Microbiology— the paper will consist of two sections. Part-A will have 40 questions from Chemistry, and Part-B will have 60 questions to check on your B.Sc. level knowledge on any of the following subjects: Botany, Zoology, Physics, Microbiology, Genetics, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry. This exam is called BCESFSG&M. It is designed in this way because to study post-graduation in any of the subjects mentioned in the first line of this paragraph, a sound knowledge of Chemistry is a must.
  • For M.A in Kannada, Marathi, and Persian, no entrance exam will be held.

For 2021:

OUCET registration started on 30th July 2021, just a day after the official notification was released. The last date to apply for OUCET is 28th August 2021. Yet, you can apply till 6th September 2021 with a late fee of Rs. 500/- in addition to the OUCET application fees. Also, if you are ready to pay a late fee of Rs. 2000/-, the closing date for you is 12th September 2021. This is a great opportunity if you have missed out on the notification before.  The exam will start on 18th September 2021 and end on 27th September 2021.

Osmania University hasn’t released the official notification for OUCET, also known as CPGET, the common PG entrance test conducted by them.

OUCET Eligibility Criteria

 

Age:

  • There is no age limit in OUCET for self-financed courses.
  • The maximum age for fee reimbursement for SC/ST/BC is 34 years.
  • The upper age limit for PwD/EBC/Minorities is 30 years.

 

Nationality:

  • Of course, the candidate must be a citizen of India and have a valid proof of the same, i.e. a Central Government approved photo ID.
  • Candidates should be residents of Telangana state.
  • 5% seats in each course in the main campus and affiliated colleges of universities reserved for the candidates from states other than Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. This is called National Integration Quota (NIQ). Only those who have completed their education up to graduation from states other than Telangana and Andhra Pradesh can apply under NIQ.

 

Education:

  • To apply for the exam, you must have a Bachelor’s Degree in the same or related subject with minimum aggregate marks of 40% or equivalent CGPA in the qualifying exam.
  • Com graduates are not eligible for M.A. Economics. This course requires B.A. with economics combination as a prerequisite.
  • Students from B.E., B. Tech., B. Pharm. etc. backgrounds cannot apply to M.A. in language courses.
  • Pharm/B.Tech/B.E./LLB(5 years)/B.C.A. candidates are suggested to go through the eligibility criteria for the specific post graduations they are opting for before applying. Because they vary from course to course for these streams, unlike most of the B.A./B.Com/B.Sc. courses.
  • Pharm. / B.Sc. (Nursing)/ B.Sc. (MLT)/ B.Sc. (Ag) / B.E./ B.Tech. / B.Sc. (Home Science) Graduates are not accepted in OUCET M.Sc. courses. However, B.E./B.Tech graduates may apply for M.Sc. Geo-Informatics and Food Science & Technology.

 

Additional notes:

  • If you have completed your degree in open or distance education mode, you cannot apply for OUCET.
  • Final year UG students can apply for CPGET/ OUCET 2021, but they should be able to produce their final mark sheet during admission.
  • One cannot opt for the same course that he/she has already completed either from any recognized university/institute. In such a case, it does not matter if the course was done in regular or distance mode. Also, this stands true even if the said course was completed with a different specialization.
  • Candidates who have already have a PG degree and applying for another post-graduation program will not be eligible for hostel accommodation or any scholarship.

OUCET Registration Process

The OUCET application process can be completed in 3 major steps.

 

Step 1: Registration & Payment

  • Visit the official website http://www.tscpget.com
  • Click on the “Apply Online” option. A new webpage will open.
  • Click on “New Registration” and provide basic details like name, DoB, valid mobile number, valid email id, number of tests to be taken, etc.
  • At this point, you have to complete the payment.
  • You can make your payment through Net Banking/ Debit or Credit Card/ UPI. Only online payment will be accepted.
  • Only after payment, the registration will be complete and you will receive an SMS and an email with your registration id. You will require this id to log in to your profile and proceed further in the application process.

Step 2: Application Form

  • Only after successful registration and payment, you can fill up the main application form of OUCET (CPGET).
  • Click on the “Online application form” link on the left side.
  • Enter your registration id to log in to your profile.
  • Fill out all the necessary information perfectly.
  • Check once if everything is as it should be, and submit.

 

Step 3: Document Uploading

A scanned recent passport-sized photograph and signature of the candidate are required for all the applicants. Also, caste certificate has to be uploaded by the applicants belonging to reserved categories and opting for reservation.

 

The sizes of the documents should be as follows—

  • Photograph <40kb
  • Signature <30kb
  • Caste certificate <1mb
  • PH certificate <1mb

After all these steps are completed, you have to finally submit your application. Before hitting the button, please go through the form to make sure you have done everything right. After final submission, download the application form and take several colored print-outs of it.

 

OUCET Syllabus

Like most other PG entrance examinations, the OUCET syllabus for all the subjects in the syllabus of your degree course. In this section, we are mentioning the syllabus and marks distribution for some of the interdisciplinary subjects and diploma programs that allow students not only to graduate with that subject but also from various other backgrounds. Needless to say, the standard of the questions from any of the topics in the papers will be of UG level, except in Integrated Programmes of 5 years. For those, you will have to follow the +2 or Intermediate level syllabus.

OUCET Exam Pattern

OUCET exams pattern in all the subjects will consist of 100 multiple choice questions of 1 mark each. Each of the papers has to be solved within 90 minutes, except for the Integrated MA in Applied Economics, which has a duration of 2 hours with the same number of questions and the same total marks. There is no need to worry about negative marking in any of the exams in OUCET because there aren’t any.

The papers will contain any 3 or 4 varieties of items such as analogy, matching, classification, comprehension of a research experiment/study/ theoretical point of view, etc. The questions will adhere to the syllabus and difficulty level specified by the conducting body for that topic.

For some courses— like M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Genetics, Environmental Science, Forensic Science, Biotechnology, and Microbiology— the paper will consist of two sections. OUCET Admit Card

The OUCET admit card will be released on their website. You have to download the admit card by logging in to your profile on the official website. Remember the registration id and password— even better, save it in the browser. You will also require to carry valid proof such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or Driving License along with the admit card to the exam hall.

 

These are the steps to download the admit card, once it is released:

  1. Open your browser and go to the official website of OUCET/CPGET, which is http://tscpget.com/CPGET/CPGET_HomePage.aspx
  2. On the Home page, there will be a link to the OUCET 2021 Admit Card.
  3. Open the link and log in with your registration id and password.
  4. In your profile, you will see the admit card ready to be downloaded.

Go through the details carefully. Inform the authority right away in case of any discrepancy. Download the hall ticket and take several printouts of it.

 

In addition to the hall ticket, candidates have to carry the following documents to the exam center:-

  • Recent passport size color photographs X 2 (at least)
  • Original copy of valid Photo ID proof. Make sure it shows the same Date of Birth as printed on the admit card. The Photo ID proof can be any of the following:
    • PAN Card
    • Aadhaar Card
    • Voter Card
    • School/ College ID Card
    • Driving License
    • Passport
    • Any other photo ID issued by the State/ Central Govt.

OUCET Result

No official notification regarding the OUCET Results 2022 has been declared.

 

For 2021:

The result of CPGET/ OUCET 2021 wwas tentatively declared in October 2021. You have to download your rank card or scorecard by logging in to your profile on the website. The process is almost the same as downloading the admit card.

Both your score(s) and rank(s) in the merit list will be mentioned in your result. Download this result, take several printouts and keep it safely, because the scorecard is highly important for counseling. If you cannot show the result during counseling your candidature will be canceled.

You need to preserve the result throughout the entire admission process. So, preserve it carefully. Do not just forget about it right after your counseling is completed.
