NIMCET Exam conducting Authority

NIMCET is a National Level Exam. It is conducted by NITs for admission to the MCA program. Also, this exam is for all the 11 NITs all over India. The candidate will get admission to NIT on the basis of NIMCET rank. The notification was released on 28th March, 2022. The application date is from 04th April to May 9th, 2022. Also, the total number of vacancies released was 951. However, the cutoff marks depend on the category of the candidates and test centers.

NIMCET 2022 Notification

The NIMCET 2022 notification was released on 28th March, 2022. It will be released on the official website. Also, the notification contains all the details about the exam. It contains the exam date, syllabus as well as exam pattern. So, the candidates are advised to check to always check the official notification. The official website is nimcet.in. Also, it contains all the important dates related to the exam. Thus, the candidate needs to check the official website regularly for updates. The notification is released by the NIT as it is the conducting body. Moreover, all the 11 NITs participate in the NIMCET exam.

NIMCET Eligibility

The candidate should check the NIMCET eligibility criteria of the exam before applying. The candidate can check the eligibility criteria on the website. Also, below are the eligibility criteria for the NIMCET Exam:

Age

There is no upper or lower age limit for applying for NIMCET Exam. Hence, this is good news for the candidates. Now, the candidates do not have to think about the age limit of the exam.

Education

• The candidate should have done B.Sc/B.Sc (Hons)/BCA/BIT/B.Tech/B.E from a recognized university with Statistics and Maths or equivalent. These are compulsory subjects. Also, the candidates who have done.Sc/B.Sc (Hons)/BCA/BIT/B.Tech/B.E from Open University can also apply. But, it should be approved by the distance education council of the Government of India UGC/AICTE.
• The candidate should obtain a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA. Also, it is 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST category.
• Also, the candidates applying in the last year of the exam can apply. However, they have to provide the passing certificate at the time of admission.

Nationality

The candidate should be a citizen of India.

NIMCET Registration – 2022 exam

The registration of the NIMCET exam is active from 04th April – 09th May, 2022. It was an online process. Moreover, the application form will be available on the official website. For participating in the exam candidates have to submit the form before the last date. Firstly, the candidate has to complete the registration process. Secondly, the candidate needs to fill in all the details in the form. Lastly, they have to upload the scanned documents and pay the fee. The candidate who has completed the application process can be able to get the admit card.

Also, there is a NIMCET application fee of Rs. 2500 for OPEN/OPEN-EWS/OBC Category. But, for SC/ST/PwD the application fee is Rs.1250. After registration candidate will get a password to log in. Moreover, after filling the form the candidate will get an application number. Also, the candidates have to take two copies of the application form and e-receipt for future reference.

• Firstly, the candidates have to click on the registration link on the official website
• A registration window will open.
• Then, register with help of their name, mobile number, and email ID.
• The candidate will get a link through mail to create a password.
• Now, the candidate needs to log in with the ID and password.

• Also, the candidate can choose a choice of three test centers.
• After that, the candidate has to upload the documents.
• Now, the candidate needs to pay the application fee through online mode. It can be through credit/debit card/net banking.

Mathematics Syllabus

 Algebra

Algebra contains fundamental operations in algebra, expansions.  Also, some topics like factorization, geometric and harmonic progressions are there. Moreover, linear/quadratic equations, logarithms, arithmetic is also there.

Set Theory

The set theory consists of the Concept of sets union, Intersection, Elementary counting. Also, it has some topics like permutation combinations and cardinality.

Probability and Statistics

This unit includes topics like Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, frequency distributions. Moreover, some topics like dependent and independent events and measures of central tendencies and dispersions are also there.

Coordinate Geometry

This chapter includes Rectangular Cartesian coordinates, equation of a line, pair of straight lines. Also, it has distance formulae equations of a circle, parabola, hyperbola, and ellipse.

Calculus

Calculus includes the limit of functions, tangents, and normals, simple examples of maxima and minima. Also, the topics like integration of functions by parts, substitutions, and partial fractions are there.

Trigonometry

This unit has topics like trigonometric equations, simple identities, solutions of triangles, general solutions of trigonometric equations, and heights and distances.

Computer Awareness

Basics of Computer

This subject includes topics like the organization of computers, the structure of instructions in the CPU, and input/output devices. Also, backup devices and computer memory are there.

Data Representation

It has integers and fractions, representation of characters, and binary arithmetic additions. Moreover, it contains some more topics like arithmetic, Boolean algebra, and truth tables.

General English

General English contains Grammer, synonyms and antonyms, and Technical writing.

Reasoning

The reasoning has two topics Logical situation and Facts given in the passage.

NIMCET Marking Scheme

• The question paper consists of a total of 480 marks.
• Also, the candidate will get 4 marks for each question.
• Moreover, there will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer.
• There will be no deduction for un-attempted questions.

Documents to carry for exams

It is mandatory to take one ID proof in the NIMCET exam along with the admit card. Also, the candidate’s name should match with the id proof. Thus, below is the list of the ID proofs for the NIMCET exam:

• Driver License
• Passport
• PAN Card
• Voter ID Card
• Caste certificate for ST/SC candidates. Candidates have to bring original and photocopy
• Disability Certificate for Physically Disabled Candidates. Candidates have to bring original and photocopy.

Also, the candidate has to take the original ID proof as photocopies are not accepted. After the verification, the candidate will be allowed to give the exam. In maximum exams photo ID Proof is mandatory. So, always remember to bring any of the above-listed photo IDs with your admit card.

• Candidates should reach the exam center before the reporting time.
• Candidates have to bring admit card along with the photo ID proof to the exam.
• Also, candidates without ID proof will not be allowed in the examination hall.

2. Then, enter the email ID and password to login in Candidate login Portal.
3. Click on the “Log in” option on the website.
4. Now, the admit card of NIMCET will be displayed on the screen.
5. Lastly, download the admit card and also take its printout.

NIMCET Result

NIMCET result is in the form of a scorecard. Hence, the allotment of the candidate depends on the secured rank.  The qualified candidates will be called for counseling depending on their rank. Also, the rank list is declared few days after the exam. It is released in online mode. The cut-off will also be released by the authority. Generally, the cut-off is the minimum marks which the candidate has to obtain. Hence, the candidate has to obtain the minimum cut-off to qualify. After qualifying, the counseling process starts followed by seat allotment.

How to download exam results?

The official website releases the result. Below are the steps to check the NIMCET result:

• Now, the candidate has to log in with their email ID and password.
• It will display the rank.
• Next, the candidate has to download their rank card.

How to calculate the exam rank?

Counseling depends on the rank of the candidate. Hence, below is the process of calculating the NIMCET rank:

• The score of the candidate decides the rank.
• It can be calculated by multiplying the marks of Maths, Logical reasoning, Computer awareness, English, and Analytical Ability by the factor of 3, 1 1/2, 2, and 1.
• Also, the ranking will depend on the weighted marks of the candidate.
• The maximum weighted mark is 1000.
• Moreover, if there is a tie, then it can break by weighted marks.
• Also, if the tie is not resolved by weighted, then it can be resolved on the basis of the candidate’s age.

NIMCET Counseling

After the result, the qualified candidates will be called for counseling. However, the candidates will be called on the basis of their rank. The process of counseling includes filling of choice, allotment of seat, allotment letter downloading, reporting to the center, verification of the document, and fee payment. Also, all these steps are divided into multiple rounds. There will be three rounds of allotment. Moreover, the candidates will get the seats on the basis of their choice in these 3 rounds. Also, after the result declaration candidate will get a mail. It has a new mail id and password. Hence, with that ID and password, the candidate has to fill in their choices.

Next steps after Result

The next step will be counseling. The counseling consists of three stages:

Choice filling

Firstly, the candidate has to select the college and the course. Also, the candidate will get a new email id and password to select their choice. After login, the candidate has to fill in their choices.

Seat Allotment

The seat allotment is done in three rounds. Almost 50 % of seats get allotted in the first round. Then, the candidates who have not secured seats in the first round can go for the second round. Moreover, all the vacant seats are filled in the third round.
