The CUET is a compulsory entrance test that will facilitate admissions to all the Central Universities of India. This common entrance test 2022 for central universities gets conducted by the NTA. This exam was earlier known as CUCET. Starting this year, the UGC changed it to CUET. The CUET 2022 score will be the only criteria for getting admitted to any central university in India. So, the marks scored by candidates in their class twelve will carry no weightage now.
The CUET score will get accepted by all the central universities, which will fill around 1.8 lakh seats in total. In addition to this, the exam will be completed in 2 shifts and held only once every year. But, the NTA is considering organizing the exam twice a year from the next academic session. The exam will get conducted in 13 abroad cities. Earlier, this CUCET was a paper-pen based mode exam. Then, last year, the NTA switched it to a computer-based mode online exam. Now, approximately 1-2 lakh candidates can take this national-level central universities common entrance test in 2022.
CUET 2022 application form got released on 6th April. The last date to fill it out is 6th May, till 5 pm. The students need to register themselves on the official website first. Next, they can fill out the application form with their personal details and academic qualifications. Then, the candidates need to pay the exam fee before 11:50 pm on 6th May. The CUET 2022 exam will get held in the first or second week of July.
The exam will be in 13 Languages for students from all parts of India. Also, this is an online CBT mode exam (Computer-Based Test). This year, 547 cities across India will conduct this common entrance test for central universities. In brief, the CUET 2022 will enable the candidates to apply to 54 Central Universities in India.

The CUET 2022 application form is online. The official website for the CUET exam is cucet.samarth.ac.in. Before filling out the exam form, the candidates need to register on this official website with their name, address and contact details. Subsequently, a login id gets generated with these earlier filled out credentials. Eventually, the students need to login with the same ID and fill out the actual application form for the exam.
Filling out the application form requires utmost accuracy. Here, the students fill out the rest of their details like educational qualifications, course choice and exam city preference in the online form. In addition to this, the students need to upload essential documents like a passport photograph and signature after filling out their details. After completing all these stages, the candidates need to pay the desired application fees to complete the whole process.
After filling out the form, the final stage is the payment of application fees. The last date to pay the CUET exam fee is 6th May. Moreover, the students have to pay the application fee depending on their category. Finally, the candidates can pay the application fee through diverse online modes. The eligibility criteria are a vital aspect of any exam. The candidates need to clear it before applying for the exam and filling out the application form. As a result, the Central Universities have set minimum eligibility criteria depending on the programme selected by the candidates. To appear in the CUET 2022, the students should clear these minimum requirements. The eligibility criteria are discussed below in a detailed manner:

The candidates should pass the 10+2 board examinations from a recognized university to take admissions. The students have to clear this exam in their respective streams. The General category students need to have atleast 50% aggregate in their class 12 exam. But, the SC/ST category of students only requires 45% marks to be eligible for the CUET 2022. |

The student must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university to get admitted to the master’s program of any central university in India. The candidates can apply for a degree in the same field as their bachelor’s degree or change it to a different subject. To be eligible for the CUET 2022, the general category students must have 55% marks in their bachelor’s program. In addition to this, the SC/ST candidates have to possess 50% marks to be eligible for the master’s program in any central university. |

1. Candidates clearing the UGC-CSIR JRF, GATE, NBHM, or qualified in any other national level exam do not have to appear in this CUET entrance exam. Such students will only have to register for CUET 2022. 2. To apply for a PhD program at Central University, candidates must have a master’s degree from a recognized university. It is essential to get a master’s degree from an institute for applying to a research programme. The General category students need to have a minimum of 55% marks in their master’s degree to be eligible for the PhD program. Furthermore, the OBC category requires 50% marks to apply for the program. Lastly, the SC/ST category has a 45% marks requirement in their master’s program to be eligible for the PhD Course. |
The process for admissions through the CUET 2022 entrance exam is straightforward. The entire process has been discussed below in an easy to understand manner:
The candidates fill out four cities as their preferred test centres in the application form. 547 cities in India and 13 cities abroad will feature test centres for the CUET 2022 entrance exam. In addition to this, the NTA tries its best to give every candidate a centre in their preferred cities. Also, when less than 100 students register for a test centre, that centre will be cancelled automatically, and a nearby test centre will get allotted.
The candidates will get notified of the allotted test centre on their admit cards. Moreover, once an exam centre gets assigned to an individual, that person will not be able to request any more changes. Lastly, the NTA has decided to add two more exam centres because of the prevailing covid-19 virus in the country:
The NTA has released the CUET 2022 syllabus along with the notification. Generally, the syllabus will consist of the topics related to one’s previous academic syllabus. As a result, the syllabus for the UG programs will consist of topics from the NCERT class 11 and 12 academic syllabi. Additionally, a subject-wise syllabus got released for the students, which would help them prepare efficiently. Lastly, the PG program syllabus consists of the academic syllabus of their related undergraduate course.

The CUET 2022 exam pattern has changed from last year. Some minor changes were made that vary from Slot I to Slot II. As a result, the exam will be a CBT mode online exam of 2.5 hours. In addition to this, the paper will consist of a multiple-choice question pattern. Namely, the exam will have three distinct sections called Section 1A and 1B, domain-specific and the general test section.
Section 1A is a mandatory section that gets set in 13 languages. The candidates will have the choice to select their preferred language. Next, section 1B is an optional section for the students who need to select a language that is not a part of section 1A. Then comes section 2, which consists of only domain-specific questions. Finally, section 3 is the general test comprising 60 MCQ questions. The topics for these questions are General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability and Quantitative Reasoning. To conclude, the time limit of Section 1 is 45 minutes, section 2 is 45 minutes, and section 3 is 60 minutes.
The tentative date for releasing the CUET admit card is the 4th week of June. It will get released online on the official website of the CUET. Also, the admit card will get sent to the candidate’s registered email Id. The students will have to download and take a printout of it. Furthermore, each individual must carry their admit card to the respective exam centres. Candidates must carry a valid photo ID proof and admit card to enter the examination centre.
The NTA plans to release the CUET 2022 result in the 1st week of August. In addition to this, the CUET results will get published online on the official website. So, the candidates will need to log in with their roll number and Date of Birth to check their performance in the entrance exam. CUET results will feature the overall score, section-wise score and percentile of the candidates. Finally, the students will have to download their result and print it for future reference.
The cut-off marks for the CUET 2022 exam will get published along with the result. The NTA shall release only the overall qualifying cut-off for the 2022 exam. But the participating universities and institutes will also issue their specific cut-offs for each program available on their campus. The cut-off mark is the minimum mark the candidates need to score to qualify for the entrance test. This score depends on the number of individuals taking the exam, seats available and the difficulty level of the exam.

Ans – No, the CUET is not for admission to engineering courses. The Central Universities use the engineering entrance exam, JEE mains, for this purpose. So, if a student is aiming for engineering, he does not have to appear for CUET. Candidates have to take the JEE mains entrance exam for this course.
