More people than before are choosing traditional and indigenous medical systems to allopathy. Especially after several kinds of research and awareness programs by the government. Consequently, now the professionals have started to rise in these fields. So, AIAPGET means All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance Test. It is an entrance exam. And, this exam is for aspirants who wish to pursue postgraduate courses in Ayush. AYUSH is the abbreviation for Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy. The AIAPGET exam falls once a year.
So, National Testing Agency or the NTA is the organization responsible for conducting the exams. Basically, NTA conducts several types of entrance exams for different fields in India. And these include undergraduate and postgraduate courses in medical, engineering, management, teaching, etc. Important to note, the NTA is established by the Government of India as an autonomous and independent organization. So, AIAPGET is a national-level examination. And over 250 colleges accept the scores of AIAPGET for admission into the postgraduate streams in these institutes. Therefore, candidates aspiring to pursue Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Surgery (MS), and Post Graduate (PG) Diploma in Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy need to appear for this exam.
This year, the AIAPGET 2021 exam was on the 18th of September 2021. In this article, we provide you all the important details about it. So everything about AIAPGET, the exam schedule, exam fees, pattern, syllabus, and important updates, everything are discussed in detail.
Earlier, the AIAPGET exam was about to take place on 7th June 2021. However, due to rapidly increasing Covid 19 cases, the government and the NTA later had to postpone the exam. And it was delayed for three months. Consequently, the exam forms were available in August 2021. The online applications were open from 1st August 2021 to 24th August 2021 (up to 5 P.M). Also, the correction window was available from 25th August 2021 to 27th August 2021 (up to 5 P.M). The admit cards were out on 13th September 2021. And the exam took place on 18th September 2021.
The AIAPGET exam takes place to fill the seats for post-graduation courses in AYUSH. It is conducted once a year. So the exam requires a bachelor’s degree in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, or Homeopathy. Thus, people possessing degrees BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine, and Surgery)/BUMS (Bachelor in Unani Medicine and Surgery)/BSMS (Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery)/BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) can appear for the exam to go for further studies. It is an online exam. After the exam, counseling takes place to fill the seats. Thereafter, according to the performance in the online exam, and reservation applicable, the successful candidates get admitted to over 250 Colleges across the country offering courses in AYUSH.
National Testing Agency or NTA is an organization established by the Ministry of Education (earlier Ministry of Human Resources Development), Government of India. It is an autonomous, independent, and self-sustained organization under the Societies Registration Act (1860) for conducting various entrance and qualification exams. Also, the ambit of NTA contains almost all the fields from engineering, medical, teaching, management, and so on. It conducts transparent and efficient examinations to test the competency of candidates for entry into prominent higher education institutions.
Since 2019, NTA has been organizing the AIAPGET exam, on behalf of the Ministry of Ayush and the approval of the Ministry of Education.
The All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance Test or AIAPGET exam takes place to fill the seats for postgraduate level across India. To appear for the AIAPGET exam, it is necessary to be a graduate in either Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, or Homeopathy. So, those people possessing BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, or BHMS are eligible to appear for the exam. The courses offered are such as MD, MS, or PG Diploma in Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, or Homeopathy. AIAPGET Exam is conducted once a year. This examination is conducted by the National Testing Agency, which is an autonomous exam conducting organization under the Ministry of Education.
It is an online computer-based exam with two hours of duration. Each question carries four marks. Also, the exam carries negative markings. Accordingly, one mark for each wrong answer is deducted. The total number of questions is 120. No mark is deducted for an un-attempted question though. There are two shifts. Shift one is from 10 A.M to 12 P.M (for Ayurveda). And, shift two is from 3 P.M to 5 P.M (for Homeopathy, Siddha, Unani). The online application forms were available from 01/08/2021 to 24/08/2021 (till 5 P.M). Admit cards were out on 13/09/2021. And the examination for 2021 took place on 18/09/2021. Notably, the number of attempts for the AIAPGET Exam is unlimited. Thus, candidates can appear for this exam any number of times provided they are otherwise eligible.
The exam fee for AIAPGET 2021 is different for different categories of candidates. Thus, for General Category (Unreserved/OBC Non-Creamy Layer), the exam fee is Rs. 2700. For candidates belonging to the General (Economically Weaker Sections) category, the exam fee is Rs. 2450. The candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/PwD categories have to pay an exam fee of Rs. 1800. Also, for the third gender, the exam fee is Rs. 1800. Additionally, the candidates have to bear the applicable service charges, or processing fees, and GST over the examination fees. Initially, the AIAPGET 2021 exam was scheduled for 07/06/2021. But, due to the continuously rising Covid 19 cases, it was postponed. So, according to the revised schedule, the exam took place on 18/09/2021. The exam was online. It was of two hours duration. And admit cards for the same were available on 13/09/2021. The AIAPGET Exam was earlier postponed for three months, Finally, the notification for the same was out on 01/08/2021. Therefore, the candidates should read the notification very carefully for all the clarity related to AIAPGET Exam 2021. The scheme of examination and the pattern is clearly provided in detail. It also contains details about the syllabus, examination fee, exam process, reservation provisions, and eligibility criteria for the exam. Also, the NTA has included all the details about the application process, registration, and other general instructions to the candidates. In addition to it, details about admit cards are also given. NTA has clearly prescribed the form in which photos and signatures need to be uploaded. Also, the process of fee payment by different modes is available in the notification. Since this exam is for entrance into post-graduate streams in AYUSH. So, it is important for the candidates to have the eligibility covered to appear for it. Accordingly, the NTA has provided the eligibility conditions for the exam.
There is basically no upper age limit to appear for this examination. Thus, anyone irrespective of their age, who is otherwise eligible can appear for this examination.
The examination is purely for AYUSH Courses. Therefore, it is compulsory that the candidates need to be graduates in the AYUSH streams. That means, the candidates possessing degrees BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine, and Surgery)/BUMS (Bachelor in Unani Medicine and Surgery)/BSMS (Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery)/BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) are eligible for AIAPGET Exam.
Also, the Compulsory Rotating Internship Completion Certificate should be there for appearing in AIAPGET 2021 EXAM. And the cut-off date for completion of an internship for AIAPGET 2021 is now increased to 31/12/2021 from previously notified 31/10/2021. Also, the candidates appearing in any of the courses that are, Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, or Homeopathy should have permanent or provisional registration certificates for BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, or BHMS.
Thus, it is clear that the NTA and Ministry of AYUSH have not set very high eligibility criteria for the AIAPGET exam. However, the candidates need to mandatorily possess the required qualifications mentioned above to appear for this exam. Because if candidates fail to meet these, they will not be allowed to take the examination. And no request will be considered in this regard. So, the candidates are themselves responsible for being disqualified in the later stages if it is found that they were not eligible for the exam.
So basically, the reservations are given only on the number of seats. Thus, the seats are reserved for eligible categories in the AIAPGET exam. Accordingly, in institutes run by the central government, 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates. 7.5% are reserved for Scheduled Tribes candidates. For OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), 27% of seats are reserved. And, 10% of seats are reserved for EWS candidates. Additionally, each category will have 5% seats reserved for PwD candidates with 40% or more disabilities.
Also, for institutes run by state governments, the reservation policies of respective states will be followed.
The registration and application process for the AIAPGET exam is mainly divided into four parts. First, the basic online registration is done using an email id and mobile number. Next, the candidates have to fill in other details for application. After this, an application number gets generated. The candidates should note it down. In the next step, there is the photo and signature upload process. Importantly, the applicants should compulsorily follow the prescription for image upload. Next, in the final step, the candidates will have to pay the exam fee through different modes. All these steps are given in detail below.
So, after completing the above-mentioned four steps, the online application is complete. Finally, the candidates should properly check all the details before final submission to avoid any inconveniences later on. The AIAPGET exam has multiple-choice questions. And It is of two hours duration. Basically, the exam is a computer-based test. So, a total of 120 questions are there. And each carries four marks. Also, the exam has negative markings. Accordingly, each wrong answer deducts one mark. But no marks are deducted for unattempted questions. Also, the exam is available in English and Hindi for Ayurveda. And, it is available in only English for Homeopathy. For Siddha, it is available in English and Tamil language. After this, the candidates can challenge the answer keys. Subsequently, the NTA uploads the final answer keys. And then it declares the result. Finally, the successful candidates get the seats across the country as per their ranks, courses opted for, preferences, and reservations applicable.

The candidates should note that only online admit cards will be available for the AIAPGET exam. So, no admit cards are available by post or any other means. Therefore, the candidates have to download the admit cards from the website of NTA, https://aiapget.nta.ac.in/. So, it contains all the important details about the examination. Details like the registration number, roll number, date of birth, father name, exam center name and code, exam center address, the shift timing, and other relevant details are all available on the admit card. Importantly, the candidates must bring this admit card on the date of examination. In the absence of these admit cards, the aspirants cannot appear for the exam. Also, they should not mutilate it and handle it with care.
Also, it is necessary for candidates to bring one passport size photograph along with this admit card. And one government photo id proof should also be there with this admit card. Since aspirants failing to do so will not be allowed to appear for the exam. Therefore, the candidates should follow all the instructions given on the admit cards very carefully. After the exam is over, the NTA declares the result on its website. Based on the final answer keys, the NTA prepares the result. Importantly, the aspirants should note that they will not receive any scorecards by posts, Hence, the candidates should download their scorecards from the website only. The actual score determines the results. Also, there is no provision for rechecking in AIAPGET Exam 2021. A national-level ranking will be provided to the candidates after the results. Based on this, they will get admission into various institutes offering post-graduate courses in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy.
The counseling takes place separately. It takes place after the results. Notably, candidates get seats based on what stream they opted for, their All India Ranks, and reservation provisions applicable. It is also important to note that NTA entertains no grievances after the results regarding any issue related to answer keys. Therefore, the candidates should raise their objections when they are called after the uploading of provisional answer keys.
