B.Arch (Bachelor of Architecture) is an undergraduate degree in the field of architecture. This five-year full-time programe is a blend of theory and practical knowledge for students to learn the art of planning, designing and constructing physical structures of various kinds. From ideating to mapping and overseeing the construction, a qualified architect is involved at every stage of any construction project.

NATA (Architecture)

Council of Architecture (COA) conducts the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA). And COA is competent & final authority for making any norms and standards for architectural institutions. The council is authorized to conduct Common Aptitude Test in Architecture at National Level. This is a single window exam for appearing in Architecture Admission Aptitude Test which facilitates students and institution for the admission into the First year of 5 years B.Arch. Degree course in COA Affiliated Institutes.

 

JEE MAIN Paper 2 (for B.Arch.(Architecture) and B.Planning)

Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is conducted by CBSE. The exam is conducted in two parts i.e. Paper 1 for Engineering aspirant and Paper 2 is Architecture Aspirants. The candidates seeking admission in IITs, NITs and SPA must appear for this exam. Although Council of architecture announced NATA as a mandatory exam for admission in Architecture course in India.

B.Arch (Architecture) Eligibility and Top Entrance Exams 

To study a full-time B.Arch (Architecture) program, students must fulfill the eligibility requirements given below:

  • Aspirants must have passed their 10+2 examination or equivalent with Mathematics as one of the subjects.
  • They must have secured a minimum of 50 per cent marks (45 per cent marks for reserved category) in 10+2 or
  • Should have passed 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognized by Central/state governments with 50 per cent  aggregate marks or
  • Should have completed their International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50 per cent marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.

The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) and the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) are two of the most popular B.Arch entrance exams. The former is widely accepted by colleges offering this programs. The AAT is an entrance exam for admissions to architecture programs offered by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

JEE and AIEEE organize a common entrance exam for both the architecture and engineering courses. The entrance test includes only questions of objective type. The NATA exam is of 3 hours duration and is divided into two stages. They are Aesthetic Sensitivity test and Drawing test. The Aesthetic Sensitivity test is a one hour online test.
