India Energy Week 2025, scheduled from February 11 to 14 at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi, has emerged as a landmark event in the global energy landscape. In its third edition, India Energy Week (IEW) has grown to become the world’s second-largest energy event, demonstrating India’s increasing influence in the sector.

The event brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and energy professionals from across the world to discuss sustainable energy solutions and India’s ambitious roadmap for energy transformation.

PM Modi’s Vision for India’s Energy Future

In his inaugural address via video conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized India’s role as a key driver of global economic and energy growth. He outlined five foundational pillars shaping India’s energy ambitions:

  1. Resource Utilization: Maximizing India’s vast natural resources to ensure energy security.
  2. Innovation: Encouraging technological advancements and research in the energy sector.
  3. Economic Strength & Political Stability: Leveraging India’s economic growth and stable governance to attract investments.
  4. Strategic Geography: Capitalizing on India’s location for energy trade and regional collaborations.
  5. Commitment to Sustainability: Aligning energy initiatives with global climate goals.

These pillars set the stage for India’s leadership in the global energy transition while ensuring economic growth and sustainability.

India’s Progress in Renewable Energy-India Energy Week 2025

India has made remarkable strides in renewable energy over the last decade, positioning itself as a leader in sustainable energy solutions:

  • Solar Power Expansion: India’s solar energy generation capacity has grown 32 times, making it the third-largest solar power producer globally.
  • Non-Fossil Fuel Energy Growth: India’s non-fossil fuel energy capacity has tripled, reflecting its commitment to diversifying energy sources.
  • Paris Agreement Targets Achieved: India is the first G20 nation to fulfill its climate commitments ahead of schedule.

These achievements showcase India’s dedication to a cleaner, greener future.

Ethanol Blending and Biofuels Initiative

One of the key highlights of PM Modi’s address was India’s progress in ethanol blending. The country has achieved a 19% ethanol blending rate, leading to:

  • Reduced Dependence on Imported Fuels
  • Higher Revenue for Farmers
  • Significant Reduction in Carbon Emissions

India is on track to reach the 20% ethanol mandate by October 2025. Additionally, with 500 million metric tonnes of sustainable feedstock, India’s biofuels industry is poised for expansion. The establishment of the Global Biofuels Alliance with 28 countries and 12 international organizations further strengthens India’s commitment to clean energy.

Hydrocarbon Exploration and Gas Infrastructure Expansion

India has introduced key reforms in hydrocarbon exploration, including:

  • Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP) to attract investors.
  • Exclusive Economic Zone Openings for increased exploration.
  • Pipeline Expansion & New Gas Discoveries to boost natural gas consumption.

These measures will help India reduce energy dependence and strengthen its energy security.

A Global Platform for Energy Transition

India Energy Week 2025 has drawn participation from over 70,000 energy professionals, including 20+ ministers and 100 Fortune 500 CEOs. The event solidified India’s role as a leader in shaping the global energy transition.

As India continues to drive innovation, sustainability, and policy reforms, it is well-positioned to lead the world toward a greener, energy-secure future.
