What started as a small tea stall in 1978 has now turned into a national favorite. Cafe Niloufer, a name that represents Hyderabad’s tea culture, has just opened its newest and biggest outlet — a huge 40,000-square-foot space in Hitech City. With this, it proudly becomes India’s largest tea cafe, both in size and in spirit.
The new cafe is located in Tower 2 of the Orbit Building and is easy to spot thanks to its bold black look and three-level design. The ground floor is for quick service, the first floor is for relaxed dining, and the third floor (coming soon) will host private parties and events.
This 40,000 sq ft outlet isn’t just India’s largest tea cafe — it’s a dream come true for the founders.
Cafe Niloufer’s journey is closely linked with the story of A. Babu Rao. He started off working at a local tea stall near Lakdikapul and had one simple dream: to serve strong, flavorful tea of the best quality.
“Tea should never be weak,” he says even today, often checking the tea blends himself. His son, A. Shashank Rao, now manages the business side, bringing in new ideas while keeping the old charm alive.
The new cafe is warm and welcoming. The design uses colorful Athangudi tiles from Tamil Nadu, terracotta finishes, and lots of natural light. The cozy seating and earthy colors make it a perfect spot for a quick break or a long chat with friends.
No wonder people are calling it India’s largest tea cafe with the heart of a home.
Cafe Niloufer doesn’t try to fight other tea cafes. Instead, it chooses locations carefully. “We don’t go where others are already doing well,” says Rao. This smart approach is part of why they’ve grown so big.
With over 1,200 staff and more branches planned, they’re growing fast — but still staying true to their roots. That’s how India’s largest tea cafe is being built — one thoughtful step at a time.
Cafe Niloufer’s journey offers valuable lessons for aspiring entrepreneurs and business leaders:
Cafe Niloufer shows that with passion, purpose, and patience, even the most modest ideas can brew into iconic success.
In India, tea is more than just a drink. It’s a break, a moment, a story shared. Cafe Niloufer has served all of this and more. From a small stall to India’s largest tea cafe, their journey is proof that big dreams can start with just one cup of tea.
As Hyderabad celebrates this beautiful new space, the whole country watches with pride — and maybe a little tea envy. Because now, everyone wants a sip from India’s largest tea cafe.
