# Mathematics

When we say mathematics, we basically mean the study of numbers, different shapes, processes of counting, etc. Our daily life is almost impossible without basic maths. For example, if we have to go somewhere, we use maths to analyze how much time it will take us to reach there, or how far that place is. It is just the units that differ. Probability and statistics use different mathematical concepts to predict various events that may happen in the future. For example, if we toss a coin, we can predict whether it will be head or tail using the concept of probability. It organizes, analyzes, and interprets a broad collection of various data. The scope of this branch of mathematics involves studying the principles governing various random events and numerical data.

In addition to this, there are various branches of advanced maths. They are matrix algebra, game theory, set theory, complex numbers, operation research, cartesian geometry, etc.

## How to study Mathematics:

There are many people who think that mathematics is a tough subject. But in reality, it is a very easy subject if you understand it properly. People fail to grasp the initial concepts and call the subject hard. Whereas there are many students who call it an easy subject. The question is what makes a subject easy or tough? It is the understanding of the basic concepts that makes a subject easy or hard. For instance, if you understand something, it becomes easy for you. But if you do not understand the same thing, you call it hard. This thing is applicable to every subject, not only maths. In this section, we will talk about how to study this subject effectively. Let us have a look at the following points which illustrate how to study mathematics properly:

You cannot jump into advanced maths if your basics are not clear. While it is also true that you are not always going to get easy problems in maths. Anyone can solve an easy problem. But that’s not effective learning. You must learn A, B, C, and all the 26 alphabets of English to write an English word. Similarly, you must learn A, B, C of mathematics too. People often do this mistake. They do not read the theory properly and go to solve the numerical at the end of the chapter. So, it is very important to clear our basic understanding. For example, let us talk about trigonometry now. #### Practice as much as you can:

There is no shortcut if you want to succeed. You will have to work hard. The same theory is applied here too. To be able to understand mathematics properly, you must practice as much as you can. Without practice, you will forget things. Once you have learned any theory or mathematical formulas, practice problems associated with it. The more you will practice, your concept will keep getting clearer. You can’t just learn the chapters of maths, you will have to understand the concepts and keep practicing. Then only you will be perfect in mathematics. So, practice right from day 1 and practice as much as you can.

#### Always start by solving easy examples:

Often people have a habit of starting maths problems with hard examples. See, you can’t drive a car directly in the fifth gear, you have to start from the basic that is the first gear. Similarly, start solving easy examples given in the book. They are fairly easy to understand. As you move forward, increase the level of difficulty. Following this, you will not feel much hard. Solve examples in your textbooks. See if your steps are correct or not. If they are correct, then there is nothing to worry about. If they are not correct, find out where you went wrong. You can have a lot of progress that way. Once you master the simpler problems, move to the complex ones. That is how you are supposed to study Mathematics.

It is necessary to clear each and every doubt. Do not leave it at all. Ask a teacher, or a friend – doesn’t matter. You can also refer to youtube videos.
